Hello esteemed nation!

You'll receive a lot of these telegrams from prospective regions, and you may not even be certain what NationStates is yet, let alone what you want out of a region. NationStates is a website for developing a simulated nation by answering Issues that appear on a set timescale, and by voting in the World Assembly. There's a few more aspects of the website game, but if you want more outside of just building a simulated nation you may choose to participate in a region, a collection of in-game nations that act together toward a common goal.

That goal can be raid and gain control of other regions, to guide World Assembly policy, to have fun, to engage in diplomacy with other regions, or to simulate a certain government style. Most regions choose many and more of these goals, of course. It's okay to not know what you may be interested in yet! The best thing to do is trust your gut and try a lot! You'll notice by default you've been placed in what we call "Feeder" regions. One of a few regions new NS players are put in to. They have a lot of power, and are very active and well managed, but it is also very hard to move up the ranks, or find meaningful participation in these regions.
