History
Founded by His Royal Highness Sevastian A. Legano XI, exiled member of the royal family who returned to Novanuki and established the party in 1937 with the hopes of returning Novanuki to the royal family which had traditionally ruled the ancient Novagasque kingdom in medieval times. The party initially advocated for an open attitude to the industrial revolution, a reinforcement of traditional Novagasque values (including language, food, history, etc) which the Republic of Novanuki was failing to preserve, and the reinstatement of the Novagasque royal tradition. Disaffected Novagasques quickly backed the new party, originally simply named Monarchist Novagasque Front (Frente Novagasque dela Monarchia) in order to rid themselves of the ineffective and weak Republican government. In 1939, the Royal Novagasque Army staged an uprising with the support of the people, defeating the Novagasque Republican Army and taking control of the country in seven months. The party established the constitutional principality system which remains today, with His Royal Highness Sevastian A. Legano XI taking power as the first Prince, and Prime Minister Sevastian Nattovia becoming the first prime minister after elections were held in 1941. The party has remained in power almost exclusively barring intervals from 1962-1964, a short stint in 1987, and a period from 1997-2001. The parties that governed during these times were the Novagasque Social Democratic Front, the International Worker’s Party, and the Liberal Party.
