Previously Lieutenant Varres crash landed an Aquila Lander carrying a load of gene-seed recovered from Space Marines who sacrificed their lives during the Battle for Macragge. He navigated a field of spore mines to reach the distress beacon and rally a squad of guardsmen to the crash site.

The gene-seed and Lieutenant Varres we're now under the protection of Sergeant Jackson's Guardsmen of the Beinirham 42nd, but it seemed that the fates were conspiring against them. Jackson's auspex indicated that the lander's fusion core was going to overload, and if they could not disarm it quickly, they and their precious cargo would be destroyed in the blast. Gathering clouds of dust on the horizon told them that quicker, deadlier Tyranid organisms now knew they were here.

"Pierre O'Techno, erect the power field," growled Jackson, "Here is where we stand and fight."

Objectives:
*Guard win if they kill 12 Genestealers and remove the fusion core within 6 turns
*Tyranids win if they kill the Guardsmen in 6 turns.
*Draw if the fusion core explodes

Turn 1 Lt Varres fails to disarm the fusion core.
Genestealers destroy a sheid projector. Spawn 3.

Turn 2 guardsmen kill 3 Genestealers.
Guard kill 2 in overwatch. Genestealer kills 2, respawn 5.

Turn 3: Guard kill 1 in melee. Lt Varres disarms the fusion core.
Guard kill 2 in overwatch. Genestealers kill 1, respawn 3.

Turn 4. Guard kill 3 in melee.
Guard kill 1 in overwatch. Genestealers kill 3, respawn 4.11

Guard have killed 12/12 Genestealers needed for a victory.

"By the Throne, these hellspawn are fast!" Yelled "Jolly" Joe, his lasgun spitting death and blowing an advancing Genestealer apart in a spray of chitlin and blood. "They are without end!"

Jackson glanced towards Varres, now laden with the insert fusion core, and again across the battlefield to the approaching hordes. Against such odds, there was only one course of action - a fighting withdrawal towards clearer ground. They would fall back, shielding Varres and raining fire and fury down upon the Xenos. They were the Emperor's finest and they knew no fear. "Squad One, fall back now. Kill the aliens! Kill them all!"

Objective:
Guard win if at least 6 guardsmen and Varres with the fusion core and gene-seed reach the exit on the other side of the battlefield.

Tyranids win if they kill at least 6 guardsmen and Varres.

Turn 1: Guard kill 3 in overwatch. Genestealers kill 3, respawn 3.
Guard kill 2 in melee.

Turn 2 Genestealers kill 4. Respawn 2.
Varres tries to run.

Turn 3 Genestealers kill Varres and the remaining guardsmen.

Tyranids win.

Turn 1: Guard kill 3 in overwatch. They can only target one unit in overwatch. Genestealers kill 2, respawn 3.
Guard kill 2.

Turn 2: Genestealers kill 3, respawn 2.
Guard kill 1.

Turn 3 Genestealers kill Varres and all of the guardsmen except Sgt Jackson.

Genestealers win again.

Lt Varres concedes.

Turn 1 Guard kill 1 in overwatch. Genestealers kill 2. Tyranids won't respawn this time.
Guard kill 2.

Turn 2 Genestealers kill 1.
Guard kill 3. All of the Genestealers are dead. Lt Varres and 7 guardsmen can cross the battlefield uncontested to reach the exit.

Next attempt, Genestealers will be able to respawn, but must form a squad of 6 to move.

Turn 3 Tyranids respawn 6. Tyranids respawn at the end of their turn.
Guard kill 6.

Turn 4 Tyranids respawn 6.
Guard kill 2.

Turn 5 Genestealers kill 4, respawn 2.
Guard kill 3. Lt Varres reaches the exit.

It is a draw because the Genestealers have killed 7/6 guardsmen required, but failed to kill Lt Varres.
