Crime and punishment (mostly excerpts from F7 games)

Since F7 threads get deleted often, here is an archive of useful info

Art theft
Forced to return painting and up to half-value extra in punitive damages. Revocation of motor vehicle licenses permanently. Assuming that it was just taken while in a public space with no other crimes committed, a few months in prison. Any other crimes committed in the act (armed robbery, criminal trespass, etc) will be punished separately.

Playing clash of clans during a funeral, loudly
As long as it doesn't fall under noise pollution laws, it's not a crime. The owner of the place where the funeral is held can require you to leave, however.

As an emergency dispatcher, sending the wrong people to the caller’s location?
internal disciplining, possibly fired. However, since first responders can hear the 911 call while going to the scene, this usually results in a quick correction without penalty.

Vehicular manslaughter?
6 months - 6 years years in prison, fine up to damages which the victim is entitled to, permanently prohibited from using any motor vehicle. If committed without motor vehicle authorization, 1-8 years in prison. Judges usually are not lenient in these cases.

Stealing a motor vehicle and operating it: Sent to prison for up to four years. Permanent revocation of driver's license.

Stealing a historic artifact: Forced to return artifact and up to half-value extra in punitive damages.

Buying underage teens drugs and alcohol?
Not a crime: Age limits for alcohol are exclusively concerning purchase, sale, and use in a public venue. Cannabis is regulated the same. Any substances with a consumption age limit are on a prescription-only basis, so "underage" is not relevant. Teens tend to have connections to the black market and/or the police, so, in the case of substances which are outright banned, it would often be the minor buying the banned substances for their parents.

Necrophilic tendencies are non-actionable, desecrating/grave robbing a corpse is usually punished with a few months in prison(sentences vary). Of course, if the deceased's will expressly allows an action, allowing it is construed as post-death consent (this is usually used to allow organ donation).

Petty theft (under 1000 USD, translate to your economy)
thief is forced to return stolen goods (or equivalent value) and 10% punitive damages(victim and state split punitive damages)

Domestic terrorism is not an offense per se, but usually refers to actions which involve a lot of illegal stuff. Murder is usually punished with five years in prison, and there is a petty fine for detonation of explosives without authorization in urban areas. Property owners of damaged items will seek a lot of compensation.

Stealing a Railroad Locomotive?
Forced to return the locomotive and compensate for operational losses/infrastructure damage, + half (punitive damages), revocation of train operating license if one is had (2 months prison otherwise), 1.5 years prison sentence for interfering with railroad operations.

Assisted suicide is not a crime, unless it is unclear that it is an assisted suicide with consent of the dying. In practice, this means that Euthanasia is fine, but shooting someone who wants to be shot usually results in murder charges being pressed and dismissed.

Running an online casino is legal, but subject to regulation

Aiding a Criminal.
Same as if they committed the crime itself, if they were knowingly aiding criminal activity without compulsion involved. Providing legal counsel is protected, as is providing aid unrelated to crime (such as medical aid or providing food).

Illegal eviction
If eviction was in the wrong, the tenants are owed two years' rent and, unless the home was already decommissioned or rented out to another tenant, the wrongfully evicted must be rehoused in said home.

Burning a school down, but it's empty?
Probably 4 months imprisonment for arson, if you made sure nobody was inside. forced to pay damages and a half. Revocation of driving permit and firearms license, if applicable.

Driving under influence
Permanent revocation of driver's license, steep fine, up to two years imprisonment for first offense, any caused deaths will be treated as first-degree murder due to felony murder rule.

Stalking in a public place is not usually actionable in terms of punishment, but may constitute harassment.
