Our Recommendation
Rationale & Analysis
Overall, there’s not much to be said about this particular proposal. It’s well-written, it’s very clear in what it seeks to achieve, and it stresses the importance of public safety regarding nuclear waste management.
Seeing as how nuclear waste can indeed be very harmful to the populations of member states, it is the hope of this proposal that the process for disposing of it will be much safer as a result of the resolution’s passage. Some mechanisms for enforcement include the formation of the nuclear Energy Safety Commission – NESC – and the implementation of obligations for member states to investigate how nuclear waste is being disposed of and to ensure that it’s being done in a safe manner as per the committee’s guidelines.
We find this to be appropriate and an improvement over the status quo.
As such, Ministry leadership has directed Kethania to vote FOR “Safe Disposal Of Nuclear Waste” and we encourage all WA member nations within the Bloc to do the same.
