It's official: Nadiya to apply for SSTO membership

A daily discourse of the affairs of the State of Nadiya

TRYVALA NADIYA, MAY 16 — On Monday afternoon, the Chairwoman of the Council Elders, Yana Stanislavivna Hajduk, announced that Nadiya will seek to join the Saldanha Security Treaty Organisation.

Hadjuk formally made the announcement in Nadish and Yuányǔ, saying that Nadiya was entering a new era.

"This is a historic day," said the head of state, noting that she had begun the day by visiting the graves of the war dead in the Nadish Independence Memorial.

"These decisions will strength, not weaken, our security."

According to a government statement, the national Foreign and Security Policy committee finalised the report on Nadiya's accession to SSTO on Sunday evening. The Grand Assembly has approved the letter of application, and the Council of Elders approved it soon after 5 pm.

"Historic" shift in Nadish security policy, Chairwoman of the Council Yana Hajduk
spoke to a large group of international media on Monday.

The application, filed last night, marks a dramatic shift in Nadish security policy, away from its traditional military non-alignment.

Before the rise of world tension, support for joining any military aligned alliance had long been heavily against among the Nadish people. During this spring, public support rose from less than half to more than three quarters, according to the Daily polls.

The Grand Assembly begins consideration of the issue on Thursday morning. The open-ended debate lasted till Saturday, and following a speech by Under-Secretary Hawthorne of the SSTO on Sunday, the Grand Assembly approved the move to join the alliance.
