The Empire of Meretica (also known as the Belecthorian Empire, the Old World, the Great Atlantic Empire, the Meretican Empire, Belecthoria, or Meretica) is a large nation stretching across four islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It consists of 15 nation-states, three of which are semi-independent but still have Senate representation. It currently has a population of around 148.9 million.
Meretica was founded as a nation called Belecthoria in Year 0 of the Belecthorian Calendar (1066 B.C.E.). King Michael Dragonheart I served as its first monarch, ruling for two years until his death. His wife, Astoria I, succeeded him as his son Vilnius was a toddler.
