Mohea
The Republic of Mohea, or simply Mohea, is an island country in Oceania. It consists of three provinces– Carolina, Gilbert, and Naoero – that are spread across the western Pacific. Together, the provinces comprise around 891 islands. The islands lie northeast of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, south of Guam and the Marianas, west of the Marshall Islands, east of the Philippines, about 2,900 km (1,802 mi) north of eastern Australia, 3,400 km (2,133 mi) southeast of Japan, and some 4,000 km (2,485 mi) southwest of the Hawaiian Islands. The sovereign island nation's capital is Nicolau, located in Phonpei County, Carolina.

History
Mohea was founded by Fo'u Mohea in 1879 after he had left Guam to explore the Pacific. Mohea, a group of Phonpei natives, and a group of Mohea’s fellow Chamorro settlers established the Republic of Mohea on June 29, 1879, which initially consisted of just Phonpei island. The island, like other islands the area, were inhabited solely by native tribes, and were claimed, yet unsettled, by Spain. Mohea, being the settler of Phonpei, was the first president of Mohea. He established the country's central government. Following the establishment of the Republic of Mohea, more people relocated to Phonpei. Chamorro settlers built 3 settlements from 1879 to 1888: Fo'u, San Felipe (now Madolenihmw), and Kitti Falls (now Kitti). As the years went by, Moheans, mostly of Chamorro decent, explored the Micronesia region settling across the Caroline Islands.

Fo'u Mohea was president until 1903, when he abdicated from being president. He chose Unga Seguam to suceed him. Unga Seguam was Mohea's first Mohean-born president, as he was born in Phonpei to Chamorro settlers. Seguam established presidential terms, deciding that one shall be president for every 10 Years, until another election is held. If one is re-elected, they can go for a maximum of 2 more terms (3 total terms). However, he decided that this rule shall only begin after his presidency came to an end. He was highly criticized for this rule. On September 6, 1930, it came to an end after Seguam died from drowning in his swimming pool. This led to the first Presidential Election taking place. On December 2, 1930, Grünstadt Irun, the young mayor of the Chuuk town of Villa was elected president, winning the election over Dura Labasa. Irun ruled for a long 53 years. He was so popular that Congress allowed him to override term limits. Political apathy also assisted in allowing Irun to stay in power for so long.

Irun was president during World War II, in which Mohea stayed neutral. Both American and Japanese ships and planes would stop in Chuuk and Kosrae, where soldiers would steal gasoline and other supplies from the islands' airfields. Mohea refused to help either nation during the war, but they couldn't stop them from taking advantage of their location in the Pacific. Regardless, they managed to stay out of the way during wartime. After the war, Mohea traded heavily with the United States, who took advantage of Mohea's guano resources. Australians had moved to Mohea to run guano mining operations, where they employed many miners from Asia. However, feuds broke out between the Australian employers and the Asian migrant workers throughout the early 1950's. Both sides began attacking each other in different ways, and thousands of migrant workers, along with hundreds of Australians were deported. Because of this, Australia has failed to influence Mohea despite influencing most of the Pacific.

Each election year during his rule, no one ran against Irun, as Mohea experienced high political apathy. Irun's run came to an end when he died in 1983, the year Francisco Rosario was elected. In 1990, Rosario was allowed a special extension by Congress for his second term to be extended seven years, therefore he was able to be president until 2018.

The last president of the Republic of Mohea was the Liberal Democrats' Camille Munro. Elected in 2018, she was the first female president of Mohea. She was ousted in a coup by the Martinez family, but was allowed to become Prime-Minister, until being ousted again in 2021 by a referendum. The peaceful 2019 coup turned the republic into a United Kingdom, in which the head of state became Dylan Martinez, who’s title was King Dylan I.

King Dylan I died of old age on June 1, 2022 and was succeeded by his only child Daniel Martinez. Daniel’s title was King Daniel I. King Daniel was coronated at the Royal Palace at Mangrove Bay on June 5, 2022. While king, he had been under fire for enacting controversial political reforms such as the ousting of Prime Minister Tinto Itineang, banning multiple political parties under unproven allegations of treason, and ensuring the Mohean constitution does not uphold Mohean elections to be held democratically. All these reforms turned the kingdom into an autocracy. Because of their dismay with these reforms, on June 14, 2022, a group of about 300 Marxist extremists, most of whom were from socialist revolutionary group PRAM unsuccessfully attempted to raid Mangrove Bay, the royal palace in Nicolau. The attempted raid left 13 people injured. 143 people were arrested for their actions during the affair. King Daniel’s reign also saw an increase in executions. An estimated 800-900 Moheans were executed in July and August of 2022. Most notably executed was former Yap MP Vinny Conway, the founder of PRAM.

On September 5, 2022, during a Labor Day ceremony at Mangrove Bay in Nicolau, King Daniel was assassinated while giving a speech about the economy and the Mohean workforce in front of a crowd of about 5,000 people. Four members of PRAM (The People’s Revolutionary Army of Mohea) in the crowd at Mangrove Bay charged towards him and began shooting in his direction. 8 bullets hit the monarch, killing him. 3 military personnel guarding him were also killed, as well as 1 civilian. 5 civilians were shot and injured. Military personnel began shooting into the crowd where the PRAM shooters were, but about 400 more PRAM members were in the crowd, most of whom were armed. PRAM members began shooting back at the military personnel, while other members alongside hundreds of civilians stormed Mangrove Bay. Hours later, the Mohean Capitol Building was also stormed. These events are known as the Labor Day Putsch. In total, about 200 people were killed during the Labor Day Putsch, most of whom were King Daniel’s military personnel. PRAM members took over Mangrove Bay and the Capitol Building, forcing military personnel to surrender.

The People's Republic of Mohea was established on September 8, 2022 by the People's Revolutionary Army of Mohea headed by President Oldak Toga and Vice President Carl Taulung. The Republic was a socialist unitary dominant-party presidential republic under a military dictatorship, that party being the Mohean Communist Party.

Gilbert, led by Ethan Shoda, seceded on September 14. Naoero, led by Benjamin Waters, seceded on September 15. Naoero would later join Gilbert in November. Kosrae, led by Katharina Soler, seceded on October 4. Gilbert rejoined Mohea on December 13. Kosrae was invited to rejoin Mohea but declined.

The United Kingdom of Mohea continued to exist on the island of Chuuk. The kingdom was governed by King Daniel's daughter Tina I, and by head of government Miguel Ramires. However, on October 10, 2022, PRAM invaded the island and took Ramires into custody. The royal family fled the island by ship. On this day, the United Kingdom of Mohea finally ceased to exist. It is unknown what happened to the Mohean Royal Family. Many speculate they fled to Spain, however this is unconfirmed.

Toga‘s government revamped the structure of Mohea’s government and its provinces. Many of these changes went into effect on March 14, 2023. This includes the establishment of many counties into their own provinces, a new parliamentary system, and most notably an election for president as Toga chose to relinquish his position as head of state. Former Prime Minister Tinto Intinang of the Liberal Democrats was elected president and took charge on March 14.

Culture

Music and Dance
"Stick dancing" is a popular form of dance in Carolina. The Yapese are particularly known for their skills in dancing. In Mohea, men participate in various dancing competitions, which are segregated by caste; the lower castes have some distinct dances, such as a woman's standing dance, but can only dance when authorized by a person of a higher caste.

In Gilbert, folk music is very popular. Gilbertese folk music is generally based on chanting or other forms of vocalization, accompanied by body percussion. Traditional songs are often love-themed, but there are also competitive, religious, children's, patriotic, war and wedding songs. There are also stick dances which accompany legends and semi-historical story-telling. These stick dances or "tirere" are performed during festivals.

Cuisine
Regional cuisine varies by province. In Gilbert, a staple diet includes an abundance of seafood, rice, and coconuts. Seafood is usually eaten sashimi style with either coconut sap, soy sauce or vinegar based dressings in use often combined with chilies and onions. Carolinian cuisine includes local foods such as cassava, taro, yam, potato, fish and pork. Fruit bat soup was commonly referenced to be a Carolinian delicacy, however, following the COVID-19 pandemic, the consumption of bat meat is now being seen as unconventional and risky. Naoerans consume lots of seafood, as well as food made with coconut and fruit. Coconut fish (raw fish, often tuna, served in coconut milk with seasonings) is one example of a traditional Naoeran dish.
