Partnership for Sovereignty Writers Corner Resources

The Partnership for Sovereignty LinkDiscord hosts the PfS Writers Corner, which is a drafting space for friendly prospective Security Council authors used for early draft feedback, idea generation, and writing collaboration.

The Writers Corner also offers a variety of programs and resources meant to assist authors who choose to take advantage of these, including an SC 'buddy' mentorship program, proposal sponsorship by the PfS, and access to the community of friendly delegates that the PfS maintains for approval campaigns.

The overall goal of the Writers Corner is to offer a friendly space for both the experienced and the inexperienced to improve their drafting process and share ideas or feedback with one another that they would not have otherwise. It is intended to be a positive, welcoming area that educates for the betterment of the SC overall with improved access to tools and resources that most individual regions do not offer on their own.

What is the Writers Corner?

The Writers Corner is an open drafting space hosted in the Partnership for Sovereignty Discord meant to provide idea generation and friendly feedback to SC authors as they work on proposals. This space is intended to be an area of constructive criticism and free of political posturing to provide authors with the most helpful feedback possible when they draft.

The Writers Corner offers a wide array of prospective proposals that have yet to be passed for idea generation and notable SC history resources for those struggling with research, drafting tips, or general SC data while authors work. Participants are welcome to share their drafts or ideas and debate various concepts with one another in a more laid-back environment as compared to the public SC forum.

This space is also home to a community of PfS-friendly delegates who support the PfS' work and can be asked to offer approvals to submitted proposals backed by the PfS. Anyone who drafts in the Writers Corner is welcome to request notifying these delegates for approvals from a delegation member upon submitting their proposal.

To join the Writers Corner, come check out our Discord and give yourself the corresponding server role to view the drafting area.

SC Mentorship

The SC Mentorship program pairs SC-savvy players with inexperienced newcomers to help navigate the steep learning curve of drafting and SC etiquette.

Although Mentors are not required to meet any set of requirements/topics in mentoring, the aim is to cultivate a friendly and guiding relationship with a younger player that teaches the standards of proposal drafting and SC norms that are not immediately obvious to newcomers. In addition, Mentors should seek to offer advice on any prospective drafts made by the Mentee and guide the wider criticism process. As with any resource, how much a Mentee utilizes their Mentor depends on their own desire to do so, so each mentorship can and will look very different from person to person.

Mentorship does not in any way obligate the Mentor to support, sponsor, or co-author drafts produced in the mentorship. However, proposals drafted within the mentorship program will automatically be considered for the PfS Early Bird program outlined below. Mentors are also supported by members of the PfS in their time working with Mentees to help resolve any concerns or challenges that may arise.

If you are interested in requesting a Mentor or being a Mentor, you should join the Discord and request more information.

Early Bird Program

The Early Bird program is a sponsorship program with a wide scope of assistance that begins prior to the proposal being submitted and looks different depending on each author's needs. Proposals accepted into the Early Bird program receive a variety of advantages, including early voting recommendation support, access to the PfS voting network, and vote or approval campaigning should the author desire.

The Early Bird program process begins with the author submitting their final proposal text to the PfS prior to officially submitting the proposal onsite. The PfS will deliberate on the proposal and vote on whether to release a favorable voting recommendation which will determine the proposal's acceptance to the Early Bird program. Keep in mind that the PfS may take a few days to discuss and vote upon recommendations, so plan your submission timeline accordingly. If successful, the PfS will notify the author of the recommendation and begin the planning process to offer whatever assistance the author desires as they move forward with submitting their proposal for delegate approvals. Depending on the author's preferences, the PfS will offer support to the proposal throughout the entire process until the SC vote is finalized.

Although there are no formal requirements, this program is only available to SC proposals as the PfS is a Security Council-oriented voting bloc. Proposals authored in the SC Mentorship are automatically included in the Early Bird process at this time.

If you have any questions on the above or would like to learn more, don't hesitate to reach out to a delegation member or the Partnership for Sovereignty nation.
