Vote Against SC resolution Convention Against Heisting
Resolution Analysis
Overview
This resolution seeks to outlaw the practice of heisting, or seizing bank from other nations without their consent by unintentionally or intentionally undercutting their bids on international artwork. To do this, the author defines a serious of best practices related to transfers of international artwork.
Recommendation
While we are of the opinion that any theft from nations is in bad taste and may even rise to the level of being despicable, we cannot condone a resolution of this nature for a number of reasons. First, while the recommendations in this resolution are helpful, they fail to capture the gist of why things like pull events and transfers happen?realities the author should be aware of before writing about the international artwork situation. Second, this resolution also fails in adequately defining international cooperation to rectify the issue?instead encouraging intra-regional methods of problem-solving. Finally, the author applies a good faith tactic to an often bad faith tactic by the heister, a strategy which in less malicious cases might succeed, but a strategy whose failure really can't be used to surmise malice or innocence.
For the above reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote Against the Security Council Resolution at vote, "Convention Against Heisting".
