The Red Faction.

Slightly ecoterrorist/communist like, greatest threat to the EDF, number in the millions and are made up of mostly miners and rouge soldiers that controls 90 percent of the Badlands sector(the area outside the other sectors and the largest but least populated section of the planet comprising 80 percent of Mars.

Though this may seem like an easily solved problem through military force, but the RF resistance bases of operation are almost entirely underground in mines but more commonly the vast network of empty lava tubes across the planet. Thousands of miles of large underground tubes with access to ore, thermal power, nearly unlimited space and water, and millions of entrances throughout the surface of the Mars, each of which supplies the underground with air.

When the RF takes and occupies an area they carry out massacres both random and of captured prisoners, and government collaborators. They promptly fortify all areas with trenches, mines, bunkers, checkpoints and other military like installations.

The RF combat tactics include ambushes ,sabotage, assault raids, petty warfare, hit-and-run tactics, IEDs, assassinations, kidnappings, terrorist and suicide attacks. The RF has used these tactics to great effect often severely hampering the EDFs affairs, cash flow, and military’s ability to respond and retake territory.

The RF fund their activities mainly through illegal mining operations throughout the Badlands, minor and major item theft, drug manufacturing and trafficking, human trafficking, arms manufacturing and trafficking, kidnapping and ransoms, racketeering, fraud, money laundering and small amounts of cash and material donations.

The RF is armed with everything from knives and pickaxes to firearms from 19th and 20th centuries(mainly Soviet weapons) to artillery, mortars and armored vehicles to their most powerful weapon, the V1 rocket which they assemble from scrap metal and with old 1940s specifications. Above all they have nearly an unending supply of explosives and man power.

Around a decade into this renewed conflict, the red faction announced they had gained the ability to produce old world weapons on their own with foundries and factories underground.

They said with this and the fact they have the schematics for all weapons pre 1991, they are able to produce thousands of each kind of the following weapon a month.

We know they have made 1000 of submarines model’turtle’ and ‘Hunley’ as well as at least 100 each of the recon submarines “El Ictineo”, “intelligent whale”, “ fenian ram”, “goubet”, “gymnôte”, “delfino”, “Gustave Zédé”,ranging from 1 to 5 crew and at least 250 each of the “argonaut” , “Trieste”, “Aluminaut” , “Deepstar”, “deep quest” and at least 25 command recon submarines “India”.
