Andusre For MP

Andusre For MP

Hi Thaecians. My name's Andusre and I am running for a seat in the upcoming Midterm elections. I intend to keep this dispatch fairly brief, so first off here is my experience in Thaecia:
  • I'm our co-founder!

  • I have served as our Prime Minister from January 2019 to October 2019.

  • I have been an MP before, serving as Speaker of the House for one House term.

  • I was a Senator for a little under two Senate terms.

  • I led the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Bigtopia's administration.

  • I am currently leading the Thaempirial Army as Tagus / Secretary of Defence.

  • I authored 5 of our Legislative Resolutions, most notably the now-repealed bill which established the Electoral Commission and the Delegacy Transition Act.

So, why am I running?

To put it simply: I'm frustrated. I've sat back and watched countless events unfold over the past few months to my great despair. In the past few weeks & months we have seen the two chambers of Congress engage in a grossly unprofessional open conflict over an absurdly small issue which could have been solved easily; we have seen multiple people leave their posts in frustration over small things which escalate into major incidents; we have seen a legislature unable to trust the executive branch; we have seen Brototh & Islonia do much of the heavy lifting of law-writing instead of elected officials; amongst a slew of more unsatisfactory performances and problems.

I'm running to help restore calm, professional and effective functioning of the legislative branch. I'm running to make sure the legislature and executive work hand-in-hand together, not warring with each other at any given opportunity. I'm running to help our elections stay competitive, and I'm running to keep Congress running smoothly amidst a turbulent time in Thaecia and across NS as a whole.

What are my policies, you ask? Here are some things I support:

  • Amending the Positions Restriction Act (PRA) to allow Ministers to serve in Congress.

  • Simplifying the Constitution.

  • Supporting - but still regulating - the executiuve branch and giving it more autonomy and freedom from restriction with which to properly govern the region.

  • Amending the Military Commission Act (MCA) to loosen restrictions on the military, protect operation security & empower our region's great army.

  • Amending Thaecia's citizenship rules to protect the integrity of Thaecian elections whilst also not restricting R/D.

  • Defining the definition & procedures of what a "resignation" is.

  • Repealing LR 36.

Now, many will ask the question of if I intend to resign my position as Tagus / Secretary of Defence of the military should I win a seat, which is a valid question. To put it shortly: no, I probably would not resign my position as Tagus. The reason I say no is because there is currently a repeal & replace for the PRA, which would make my service to Congress whilst remaining at the helm of the regional military legally possible. Having been in the military since its inception, I know for a fact the appropriate precautions & regulations of the military can still be upheld despite the Tagus / Secretary of Defence being a member of Congress.

I have yet to decide whether or not I will make a run for the Speaker of the House should I win. It's something I am actively considering especially, with all due respect, given my disappointment in the current Speaker of the House Marvinville. Marvinville is a competent bureaucrat and manages his job as the Speaker well, but many of his decisions over the past 2 months I view as grave errors of judgement which make my support of his prospective re-election bid as Speaker untenable.

I hope to have your vote in the upcoming election, thank you for your time!
