Grand Secretary Elections: Debate Goes Awry, Chaos Reigns Supreme
By meatlickercitizen9

KUM CITY – The nine Grand Secretary candidates went head-to-head in a live televised debate, which was conducted in the Rungra Island First of May Stadium.

The debate touched on a variety of issues, but the heated atmosphere and cut-throat nature of the competition pushed the debate into a riotous brawl. Hardly a minute went by without one of the candidates angrily interrupting the other, whether it was on the military, nuclear policy, education, the economy, or anything else - including a plethora of personal attacks.

“Will you shut up, man?” candidate Huang Duzhen snapped at opponent Zheng Meiyue. “Hitler ate your lunch,” she shot back at Huang, questioning his ideological similarities with the Austro-German dictator. At one point, punches - and other missiles - were thrown.

Moderator Lin Kai-fang was forced to intervene in the debate for at least 50 times. Security teams had to be dispatched thrice as the situation got ugly. There were also reports of livestreamers taking bets on the fights between the candidates, which led to nine hospitalisations at the end of the event. A convoy of ambulances were seen as EMTs escorted the candidates out of the stadium to applause.

Here are the highlights.

"Mr Huang, You are a Nazi!"

When questioned about their political beliefs, candidate Huang Duzhen was challenged on many fronts for his leanings to the far-right, which many have characterised as "Hitlerist" and "indicative of Nazi tendencies."

Many fellow candidates, such as Chae Won-tak of the Chollima Movement, Chung Eun-hun of the Jeonguidang, and Hua Meilian of the Yellow Flower Movement allege that Huang's platform revolved around dangerous "fascist" ideologies similar to that of Austro-German dictator Adolf Hitler. Professor Chae slammed his opponent, loudly proclaiming, "Mr Huang, you are a Nazi!" Huang responded dismissively and stated that his views "were necessary for the continued existence and propagation of genuine, legitimate, Asian values and tradition." He then reiterated that these points relied upon evidence gathered via "cherrypicking the most inflammatory statements and using them to slander my platform".

Huang has come under fire in multiple instances for his harsh rhetoric. In the debate, he labelled Christianity as a "vile foreign evil that will destroy the core and fabric of Asian society", pointing to the Linkancestral rites controversy which saw the Catholic Church condemn and ban Qing worshippers from partaking in age-old ancestral rites. He has also called the religion as a "weapon for the white race to justify and uphold Neo-imperialist tendencies in Asia", with his latest remarks surrounding "total war" against the UKOB as a means to "purify Asia from foreign influences".

Throughout the debate, Huang made some comments which others have accused of being "far-right in nature". This includes his claim that the "Asian race is the one which mastered the art of civilisation: while the Europeans were huddling about in wattle and daub houses, we had massive palaces and gardens that rivalled their cities. Their attack on our civilisation when they labelled us as 'barbaric, godless Orientals' is nothing more than a farce. Attacks against Asian groups have skyrocketed in the west. If we want to survive, we need to focus on protecting ourselves and asserting our sovereignty so it cannot be questioned...unlike the humiliations of 1841, 1858, 1900, 1931, 1933, 1937...and so on."

Insults Get Personal

Zheng Meiyue and Ri Pak-Hye, two candidates who were embroiled in a scandal surrounding a potential romantic relationship, were attacked by conservative candidates Kim Joo-yong, Dmitry Neverov, and Huang Duzhen in the debate. Slurs and insults were tossed by both sides, with Huang berating the pair as "dykes", while Ri reiterated her comment on Huang as a "wannabe neo-Nazi". The trio reaffirmed their support for the "suspension or disqualification of candidates Ri and Zheng from the elections" due to potential conflicts of interest.

Previously, a series of online leaks showed photographs and private text messages indicative of displays of affection as expected in a romantic relationship. Although both have refused to comment on the state of their relationship, it has become an open secret that the two female candidates are romantically involved, especially following a series of testimonies from alleged former classmates who were part of their graduating class. Public approval ratings have been mixed amidst the revelations, with both candidates receiving an increase in popularity by 5% amongst the 18-30 demographic, and a 3% decrease in the 60+ age group. LGBT voters have also come out in support of the candidates, particularly Ri Pak-hye, for her pro-LGBT+ agenda.

However, the insults didn't stop there. Chōjun Naagusuku of the Internet Party of Asia was accused by Boris Zhirinovsky of Northern Prosperity of nepotism, where he appointed his children as managers in his own IT startup. “Foreigners ate your lunch, Mr Naagusuku. Your sons then go in and take out billions of dollars."

“That’s simply not true,” said Naagusuku.

Zhirinovsky continued with another claim: “Why is it, just out of curiosity, that Moscow gave your son $3.5 million?”

“None of that is true,” Naagusuku replied.

“He didn’t get $3.5 million?” This kind of sparring continued for several minutes, until other candidates got involved.

“Here’s the deal. You want to talk about families and ethics? I don’t want to do that. His family, we can talk about all night,” Hua Meilian said, referring to Zhirinovsky's adult children. “This is not about our family. It’s about the people and their families.” The moderator then changed the subject, after Zhirinovsky joked about Naagusuku's first son being "mentally rétarded".

Punches Thrown

Zhirinovsky's joke was not taken lightly by Naagusuku, who attacked him ferociously. The other candidates intervened to stop the fighting, but it was rather too late. Footage shows that Naagusuku had leapt across the podium and tackled Zhirinovsky, bloodying his nose and pushing him off the podium. Both sides scuffled for thirty seconds, each bloodying the other, until security teams stepped in and separated the two.

Both were hospitalised after the event.

Professor Chae and Huang came into conflict after Chae accused Huang of intentionally ruining the country. Huang then claimed that Chae was a "Soviet agent sent from Moscow". Both men jumped up and threw punches at each other, with Chae downing his adversary after a punch to the head, which resulted in a concussion. Once again, security teams intervened to separate the pair.

Several people at the event who live-streamed the fights reportedly started taking bets, especially once the fights grew larger in size. At one point, Kim Yoo-jong found herself facing off against Zheng Meiyue, while the two FEUP candidates brawled with various other party members after Ri Pak-Hye proposed curtailing the Supreme Leader's powers. It was thought that at one point, over $550,000 USP worth of bets was circulating online before the fights ended. One user boasted about making "$20,000 USP off of Chae's knockout", and satirised how Chae's "communist leanings benefited [the user] in a capitalistic manner".

Knives Out

The debate was forced to an end near midnight when Cao Kaiming of the Veteran's Party drew out a knife when Yoshiko Shii of the Kyōsan-tō proposed demilitarising the PDF with a 25% reduction in active personnel.

"You'd be killing the livelihoods of a million of our dearest patriots," he shouted, drawing out his knife as he rushed towards Yoshiko. He was tased by the moderator - who at that point was given a taser by security guards - and disarmed. Huang applauded the move by Cao, saying that "there is no room for peace when greedy conspiring imperialists such as the UKOB and Romanovskaya exist!" As they started exiting the venue to make their closing statements, an unidentified man presented Huang Duzhen with a petition to spearhead the FEUSSR's nuclear programme, asking for his signature of support. The other conspirators, who appeared to be various citizens of different ages, crowded round him to offer support. The man grabbed Huang's shoulders and pulled at his shirt in the fray - Huang then shouted, "Why, this is violence!"

One of the conspirators simultaneously produced a knife and made a glancing thrust at the candidate's neck. Huang turned around quickly and caught the man by the arm, shouting "You villain, what are you doing?" The conspirator shouted, "Help, brothers!" Within moments, the entire group surrounding Huang struck and stabbed at the man. Huang attempted to get away and succeeded, but blinded by blood, he tripped and fell. Security intervened and shot the conspirators, arresting all 60 of them. Huang was hospitalised with 23 stab wounds.

According to a physician at the hospital, another conspirator falsely disguised as a nurse stabbed Huang again in the buttocks, but was shot and killed by police. The physician said that all 24 stab wounds were not fatal, and that Huang would survive this altercation. Massive outrage and uproar has been fuelled by this event, particularly by followers of the Asia First party, who alleged that leftist political groups had orchestrated the event, and that the country's law and order was being betrayed by internal enemies.

High speed trains in a railcard.

SINGAPURA-NAKHONRUANG
RAILWAY: DREAM OR REALITY?

NAKHONRUANGLinkThe Far Eastern Communications Construction Company (FEC3), LinkFar Eastern Railway Construction Corporation, LinkSEPCO, and Samsung C&T have announced plans to form a consortium to lobby for the Singapura-Nakhonruang High Speed Rail line, as part of a wider regional effort to link the entire continent via the Pan-Asian Railway Network. Plans for such a network have been in the works since 2007, but no serious work was done until recently, when FEC3 announced its plan to revive the Kuala Lumpur-Singapura railway. Its supplemental pledge of support for Eulumian plans to extend the Bandung-Jakarta HSR to Surabaya has renewed interest in railway projects, given its profitability due to Asia's large population demand.

The proposed Singapura-Nakhonruang HSR, abbreviated to the SG-NK HSR, will be an extension of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapura HSR, with construction based on a complete revamp of pre-existing railway lines in Vashnal to reduce its footprint - primarily the Southern Line, which terminates at the Eulumian border in Yala and Narathiwat. Being 1,144.29 kilometres long, the SG-NK HSR will run from the Eulumian border through Hat Yai, Thung Song, Surat Thani, Chumphon, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Ratchaburi, before terminating at Nakhonruang City. Construction is expected to last no more than 7 years, since most of the infrastructure is currently in place; most of the work will be centered around replacing its meter-gauge tracks to 1,435mm standard gauge, and electrifying the railway to be compatible with HSR rolling stock.

The Railway Construction Consortium (RCC), based on the aforementioned companies from the FEUSSR, have made plans to provide local groups with machinery, assistance, equipment, and funding for the project. The RCC is expected to invest up to $35 billion USD in the project over a period of 3 years, with an average return of 7-8% annually upon the northern segment's completion in 7 years or less. The RCC has also assembled a team of over 500 technical experts, surveyors, and engineers to chart the proposed route, and has said it would hire over 60,000 workers from Vashnal for the project.

SECURITY EMPOWERMENT ACT COMES INTO FORCE

MOI-PSF traffic police on duty.

SHUNTIAN – The Soviet of the Union and Supreme Soviet has promulgated the Security Empowerment Act into law, providing MOI-PSF and MNP officers additional rights to help them discharge their duties. By doing so, it is hoped that the FEUSSR's law enforcement agencies will be more capable in bringing law and order to the country, helping construct a socialist society ruled by law, and ensuring social harmony across the nation.

The SEA grants the MOI-PSF personnel the right to detain and interrogate civilians if it is believed that they have committed a crime, assisted in the commission of a crime, or have knowledge of a crime committed by others. Furthermore, MOI-PSF personnel can be authorised by city authorities to destroy any property that poses a significant health risk to the environment, which can include tainted buildings, contaminated properties, and so on.

The SEA also applies to MNP officers as well. If MNP or MOI-PSF officers have reason to believe that a person has consumed illicit narcotics, they are entitled to the right to subject said person to a urine test and/or a hair test. Failure to provide a specimen of urine for a urine test, or refusal to provide hair for a hair test is a summary offence, which will be punishable by a maximum of 3 years' imprisonment, will result in a fine of $20,000 USP. Additionally, if a FEUSSR citizen or resident consumes illicit narcotics abroad, consumption will be dealt with as if that offence had been committed within the nation's sovereign borders, and will be punished accordingly with either a 3 month imprisonment term, court-mandated therapy, a $56,000 USP fine, or any combination of the listed. Random checks are conducted at entry points such as airports, ports, or roadways - these checks will be to test if travellers have consumed illicit substances prior to entering the country.
