Welcome Guide to the Kingdom of Great Britain (KoGB)

Welcome Guide to the Kingdom of Great Britain (KoGB)

Introduction

Welcome to the Kingdom of Great Britain which we call KoGB for short. We are glad you found us and hope that you will consider moving your nation here, or if you have already then joining us as a citizen.

I can promise if you become a citizen there will be great politics, a fun community, and friends to be made.

We have a LinkDiscord (A Instant Messaging Platform), and a LinkRegional Forum (Where the formal business happens.)

Please Note: You need an account to see the forum and most of the forum can't be seen by non-citizens, but when you get citizenship you will be able to see it all.

If you are interested in being a citizen please read on.

The Pitch - Consider Joining KoGB?

The Kingdom of Great Britain is a political simulator with real people, but we are more than just politics, we are a nation simulator where you get to be a citizen who can make their mark.

if have you ever dreamed of being:

- A Member of Parliament;
- A Minister;
- A Prime Minister;
- A Lord/Lady of Parliament;
- A Lord/Lady Chief Judge;
- A Great Officer of State;
- A Speaker of the House of Commons;
- A Bar Certified Barrister;
- A BBC Journalist;
- A Chief Editor of your own Media;
- A Leader of your own Political Party and;
- Much more.

Then here is your chance because any/all of those things are possible in KoGB.

But it's not just about political positions, we have much more more: As a Monarchy we have Titles of Nobility, and Orders of Chivalry which get awarded in Honours Lists to those who contribute to making our region better, so if you have ever dreamed of being and/or having:

- A Lord/Lady You, Baron/Baroness of Somewhere Great;
- A Sir/Dame You, Knight/Dame of the Garter;
- Post-nominals after your name You OM (Order of Merit).

But it's not just about political positions and honours, beyond the in-game politics we are a community of friends who do everything from streaming games with each other, to debating in real life politics.

A Brief History

KoGB dates back to August 2013, and has being going strong ever since.

While there have been a few British regions that have existed, KoGB has lasted. This is because we are unique, we are not just a carbon copy of the real life Great Britain but our own version.

What makes us different is we are a little bit more Monarchist with the focus not just being on a House of Commons with complete supremacy, we also let other organs of government have some power. We lean into this focus with opportunities to become a knight, or a noble working your way up the levels of peerage, and we have events with the good old pomp and ceremony that also focuses on that side of things.

You can also start businesses, societies, media/newspapers, and more.

We are also a pretty socially active region.

Our current Monarch is His Royal Britannic Majesty Charles III, and as of writing this dispatch we are in our 47th Session of Parliament.

How to Turn Off Receiving Recruitment Telegrams

The first thing you might want to do is turn off your recruitment telegrams. If you're returning to NationStates after being gone for a while, you'll notice you're receiving a lot more of them. This is due to changes to the telegram system that now allow regions to spend money or use automated scripts to send recruitment telegrams. Chances are the people sending you telegrams right now aren't even here!
Just follow these steps to disable recruitment telegrams:

1. Go to your telegram Preferences.
2. Look for the options under Filter.
3. Click Block All next to Recruitment.
4. Click Update Filter.

And you're done! No more annoying recruitment telegrams!
