South Pacificans Minions of the World, Unite!

It is I, your benevolent deletocrat, Supreme Leader Admiral Delegate General Amerion, addressing you once again from the steps of Saint Stewie at the Delegate's Super-Secret Volcano Lair located somewhere in the South Pacific ocean.

I have but three important pieces of information to share with my dear minions on this fine November day.

Vote against Commend Twobagger

The Office of WA Legislation strongly encourages that all nations cast a vote AGAINST the current Security Council resolution, Commend Twobagger. As per the OWL's analysis:

『 Twobagger was a defender with the South Pacific's ally 10000 Islands before defecting at the beginning of this year to join the infamous raiding organization The Black Hawks. The proposal appears to be commending him for his contributions to defending, which the South Pacific would normally support. However, closer inspection reveals that the proposal's author is Jakker, a longtime commander in the Black Hawks. It is clear that Jakker chose to commend Twobagger specifically in order to anger 10000 Islands. South Pacificans should not tolerate such action against an ally of ours. The fact that out of all the notable defenders and former defenders in the world, Jakker chose to propose a commendation of the one who defected and switched sides to become a raider suggests that his motivation is merely to bring another World Assembly badge into the Black Hawks. But the proposal never even explicitly mentions that Twobagger is now a raider, leading uninformed voters to think that they are commending a military hero when in fact they are rewarding a military enemy. Furthermore, Twobagger's own actions as listed in the commendation proposal are not terribly special and do not meet the typical standard of the Security Council. The duplicitousness in this proposal is outstanding and it should be called out for what it is: an attempt at trolling our ally, the defender community, and the World Assembly. The Office strongly urges a vote against. 』

In addition, the Cabinet has issued this statement regarding the proposed commendation:

『 “Commend Twobagger” is a product of the worst habits of the Security Council and the Gameplay community in general. Let’s be clear: Twobagger betrayed 10000 Islands and joined their enemies in The Black Hawks. Regardless of the motive or anybody’s opinion on that, they are not an active defender and 10000 Islands does not approve of being used in such a manipulative way to commend them. The commendation purposefully misleads the rest of the game into thinking that Twobagger is a current wonderous defender, when in all actuality they are a turncoat raider. 』

'Condemn The Free Joy State'

Background Information

Proposal title: 'Condemn The Free Joy State'
Author: Cretox State
Purpose: To recognize The Free Joy State's tremendous work in the Got Issues community, and their notorious dystopic nation-building.

The Office's Analysis

Commendations and condemnations are extremely prestigious and selective awards. The Free Joy State authored three Issues before joining the NationStates site staff as an Issue Editor and writing/editing several more. While the Free Joy State is clearly an important and valued contributor to the Issue-writing community, their work thus far does not rise to the exceptionally high standard of a condemnation. They should be applauded and encouraged to keep up their good work, but authorship of three Issues on its own is not nearly enough player accomplishment for recognition by the World Assembly.

Tepertopia is a legislator in the South Pacific and a senior staff member of OWL.

Tepertopia wrote:Now, as already pointed out, having written three Issues on its own hardly warrants recognition by the SC. The thing here however is that the SC rules explicitly forbid mentioning a NS staff member's work as such a staff member, thus sadly disallowing honoring the many more Issues the nominee wrote or edited. In the discussion thread for this proposal, Noahs Second Country brought up a statement by NS Admin Frisbeeteria here, made during the discussion of SC 235 "Commend Candlewhisper Archive", a resolution also seemingly meager in reasons for SC recognition which passed nonetheless, where they commented on how much of Issues Editors' behind-the-scenes work goes regrettably unnoticed. Therefore, I think we should follow the precedent of SC 235 and condemn the nominee.

HumanSanity wrote:TFJS has a meaningful career in RP, issue writing, and issue answering. To the extent that some of this can't be written about, it's largely due to strict SC rules about C/Cs for Issue Editors and what can be mentioned in them, not due to a lack of quality work by the nominee.

Starfyre/Kuriko is a former Delegate of 10000 Islands and a prolific World Assembly author. They posted the following on the on-site discussion thread for this proposal:

Starfyre wrote:The Free Joy State has done a lot with issues and has been a huge part of that community for awhile, and to downgrade that to "just three issues" is a bit disingenuous I feel. Full support, and well written I feel. Can't wait to vote on it

Amerion is the current Delegate of the South Pacific.

Amerion wrote:The dastardly Deletocracy of Amerion is actively engaged in mass infiltration operations of no less than several World Assembly members at any given time, yet where is the condemnation for the Admiral General? To say that three operations is sufficient for a condemnation is to gravely offend the Supreme Leader who still yearns for a C+C badge to go along his 264 self-awarded commendations, including the Kim Jong-il World Peace Award.

Auphelia is a current Local Councillor in the South Pacific.

Auphelia wrote:Where is the evil? Where is the passion? As a condemned nation, I see none of the trademark villainy and dastardly doings that marks a great force for fiendish ends. While I do appreciate this cleverly constructed Condemnation, I cannot counsel us to continue on this ruinous course. When you look deeper at the matter, this nation is far more deserving of a Commendation than the one they are nominated for now. How utterly revolting that this is what Condemnations mean now! Is it time for us to simply allow anyone to be marked as a scourge to NS? Must we allow these anti-heroes to be cast in the same light as moi? I agree with Amerion in this matter entirely. Even his evil streak wouldn't be worthy of condemning, so why should this mixed-up glorified filing clerk be given one? This is clearly an attempt to give a good nation a Condemnation. If they were nominated for a Commendation, I would fully support it. As for this proposal? In the words of a great TSP sage: "get out of here with that weak sauce".

Aumeltopia is a former Delegate of the South Pacific and the current Secretary of OWL.

Aumeltopia wrote:I normally strongly support commendations or condemnations of players in the issues community. I think it's a tremendously important part of the game that requires a lot of work and often gets overlooked. That said, I just don't feel like this proposal is... enough. The content basically only mentions three issues FJS authored -- that's not C/C-worthy, imo. And I understand that a lot of their work was done as site staff, so it can't be mentioned in a C/C -- but still, C/Cs are for player achievement, so we shouldn't really be giving someone a badge if they don't merit it absent their staff work. Perhaps the proposal itself could be improved, or perhaps it really is the nominee, but as it stands: I want to support something like this, but I can't support this one.

Comfed is a citizen of the South Pacific.

Comfed wrote:The nominee does not deserve the badge. A few issues and a staff position is not enough.

Porflox is a citizen of 10000 Islands. They posted the following on 10000 Islands's offsite forum:

Porflox wrote:I feel that the nominee shouldn't be condemned for writing high-quality issues, which in my eyes is a positive impact upon our community

Bhang Bhang Duc is a former Delegate and Minister of World Assembly Affairs of the West Pacific. They posted the following on the on-site discussion thread for this proposal:

Bhang Bhang Duc wrote:To be honest while the proposal is well written it just leaves me cold. I personally don’t think there is enough in it to warrant a Condemnation. A somewhat overlong preamble, three issues and then a couple of clauses describing the alleged evilness of the nominee. Doesn’t do it for me - no support. Edit: on re-reading again those last couple of clauses feel more like a laundry list, how much supposed evilness can we squeeze into a few lines.

Wallenburg is the Minister of World Assembly Affairs of the East Pacific. They posted the following on the on-site discussion thread for this proposal:

Wallenburg wrote:This is well prepared, but I just don't think three issues is enough to merit commendation. Maybe three issues in conjunction with regional service or successful military operations, or WA authorship, or exceptional roleplay, but not three issues alone.

Refuge Isle is the founder of Refugia. They posted the following on the on-site discussion thread for this proposal:

Refuge Isle wrote:Personally, I feel like the proposal is low of content and high on fluff. If ... you cannot include anything else because it would be an R1 violation, that seems to indicate that you want to condemn someone for their work as site staff and simply aren't allowed to. If that's the case, the Security Council is probably not an appropriate method for their recognition. That is to say, if there isn't enough content from the player as a regular player, then it's not the right time to pass a resolution to recognise them.
