Glaciosia For Senate

✯ Glaciosia For Senate ✯
Experience and Stability to Prepare for Our Future

Introduction

I speak to you today at an important time. We have been reaping the harvests of a period of high activity and population, but that is now waning. While we would all like to live in the world where activity and citizens abound, we must deal with the world as it is, and not just endure but thrive, and sow the beginnings of a more glorious future. To do this I believe we need stability and a mature and capable Senate, the heart of our region from which all else flows, and I believe I fit these qualifications. Up until the previous Senate term, I have served multiple successful terms as Senator and Speaker of the Senate, and while I cannot promise the same levels of activity as I had during the summer, I know that my record stands strong in showing that I have the credentials to help the Senate do its job.

Platform

✯ Finish and pass the Judiciary Act, which this region sorely needs. While the Justices have been doing an admirable job working on their own, the system calls out for more structure, legal substance and the input of the People.

✯ Finish the law format. The bill establishing the formatting committee, which I wrote and helped pass, was and is the right solution to properly defining the form and appearance of motions and laws, but needs one last push to get the format done and over the finish line. I would hope to encourage my fellow Committee members to finish the report, and would be proud to promulgate it should I become Speaker.

✯ I would hope to redraft the definitions act, ensuring that the definitions inside were appropriate and necessary, but it is possible that the definitions act is not the approach we need to solve, and I would not stubbornly cling to it if that were the case.

✯ It is my belief that the punishments for crimes should be enacted by the Judiciary, and that the Legislature should steer clear of prescribing punishments over their heads, and of keeping those things outside of the Criminal Code Act. Therefore, I would amend the Citizenship Act, and —if necessary— the Criminal Code Act to allow but not mandate the Court to strip citizenship of people convicted of High Crimes.

✯ The fifth anniversary of our region’s founding is an important occasion which should be celebrated, and a proper celebration requires significant forethought and planning. Such planning is made more difficult by the Presidential term expiring soon before the date, and so I would like to establish a structure to coordinate the Union’s efforts in this respect by establishing a committee or group empowered to work alongside the President to organize Union Day and the activities thereof.
