AQS Report | Estoslav-Zsegedslev War

AQS Report | 26th of September, 2020 | Duluth, Estoslavia

The Battle of Stephangrad, as it came to be, in the midst of Operation Prime

The Estoslav-Zsegedslev War is a theatre of conflict between the People's Republic of Estoslavia and the Federal Republic of Zsegedslevenza. It encompasses the southern portion of the Eoruisian continent from the beginning of September 19, 2020. The battles of Stephangrad, Truskotskygrad, Fitzpatrickgrad, and other cities in the initiating weeks of the conflict constitute the greatest military confrontation in history and are distinguished by comprehensive maneuvers of inordinate proportions, systematic utilization of biochemical weapons, all-encompassing strategic bombing campaigns on the part of the Zsegedslavs, and immense loss of life.

Introduction

The region which encompasses the nations of Estoslavia, Zsegedslevenza, Buertnovogrod, and Italza embodies a tumultuous history that constantly makes way for the materialization of profound contradictions. This, for a considerable period, has been the pattern of life for the people living there, and the conflict that is presently placing Zsegedslevenza in opposition to Estoslavia is a quotidian chapter in the history of the region.

As a consequence of this historical turmoil, both the Estoslav People's Liberation Army and the Zsegeslev Federal Army have established a combatant system in which their people are mentally and physically conditioned for war. In the conflict, this aspect expresses itself in the form of vast reserves maintained by both participants.

Both nations are also endowed with a rich military heritage through this turbulence and have independently developed concepts of manoeuvre warfare, combined arms, mission-type tactics, and other operational arts. Discipline in the Estoslav People's Liberation is inculcated through the "24 Virtues" supplemented with military drills and exercises. Indoctrination in the Zsegedslev Federal Army, on the contrary, has only latterly begun under the leadership of Sarek Klev.

With all these influences taken into consideration, the Prusdorian General Staff, as an institution that must strengthen the readiness of the Qestrilian Army, is compelled to document the new possibilities to war that the two armies have acquired knowledge of in the battlefield.

Assessment of Urban Warfare

A substantial part of the frontline cities, except Stephangrad, have been conquered due to swift operations and comprehensive aerial support enjoyed by Zsegedslev Federal Army. Although an effective encirclement was made in Stephangrad, ensnaring at least 70,000 infantrymen, they resolved to defend themselves tenaciously under Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Tokorov.

Through the use of the meticulous work of many war correspondents, the Prusdorian General Staff was able to attain a clear perspective on the tactics and focus of the Estoslav People's Liberation Army in urban warfare.

1. To counteract the close air support and artillery of the Zsegedslevs, the Estoslav soldiers lessen their movement during the day to a minimum. The tactical doctrine developed also encouraged soldiers in active combat with the enemy to navigate as close as possible to reduce the danger of air attack, as the Zsegedslevs feared they may target their very own troops.

2. Constant small-scale counterattacks in the event of a Zsegedslev offensive were to be executed. In conducting these counterattacks, "storm groups" were necessitated, which were minor parties of soldiers under company strength, supplemented by engineers, anti-tank riflemen, and any residual special weapons.

3. The advent of tank offensives in the city called for the basis of every position to assume “anti-tank defenses."

4. Buildings must be transformed into strongpoints and networked by delving communication trenches to prevent their isolation. They must also be able to interlock their fire in the approach of enemy elements.

On the Employment of Chemical Weapons

The state of biochemical warfare in the Estoslav-Zsegedslev War is comparatively inhibited. The presence of biological agents is also absent, however, lessons can be derived from the employment of chemical weapons in artillery barrages. The utilization of both irritation and pulmonary agents facilitate the temporary immobilization of enemy units. In the current course of the war, no defoliant or herbicide chemicals have been utilized. There are little to no mention of the usage of napalm by the aerial force of both sides.

Squad Comparison

The Estoslav squad, the most basic unit of the Estoslav People's Liberation Army, is comprised of 12 men: the Squad Leader, 1 Machine Gunner with 2 Assistants, 5 Riflemen, an Anti-Armor Fireteam, and a Designated Sharpshooter. The squad leader, riflemen, and the assistants of the machine gunner are equipped with an Avtomat Kalashnikova. The machine gunner is equipped with the Ruchnoy Pulemyot Degtyaryova. The anti-armor fireteam are equipped with an RPG-7 And the designated sharpshooter is equipped with a Dragunov sniper rifle.

The Zsegedslev Squad has an identical configuration, however the anti-armor fireteam is absent and the assistant has been converted into a riflemen. The squad leader, riflemen, and the assistant of the machine gunner are equipped with an M16. The machine gunner is equipped with a MG3 machine gun. And the designated sharpshooter is equipped with an M24 Sniper Weapon System.

The Estoslav squad has a combined firepower of 5492 rounds per minute, whereas the Zsegedslev squad has 8900 rounds per minute. Although the Zsegedslevs have superior firepower, much of the combat between the squads is circumvented through the use of substantial armored and aerial assistance. The Estoslav squad, by its superior experience, may even outnumber the Zsegedslevs at platoon level. Logistics must also be taken into consideration, with the concept of balance, once the frontline approaches Duluth, the lack of infrastructure and a navigation system may overextend Zsegedslev supply chains, and the Estoslavia Sustainment Command may find it reasonably needless to provide their squads with ammunition due to the proximity to supply locations in this manner.

Recommendations

The Qestrilian Army must utilize the information acquired to enhance the Qestrilian Land Forces' readiness in urban warfare. A manual referencing the real experiences may serve to advance this end. The substantial allocation of resources for a biochemical program is also encouraged, as it has demonstrated its practicality in the war. Lastly, the Prusdorian squad must adapt the principles which has given the Estoslav squad an abundance of initiative, and at the same time, integrate armored and aerial support into the movement of the squad.
