Repeal: The Sliding Union Act 21/08/20
- 1. Roles of the Sliding Union
a) To guide member states in a similar, but inclusive direction.
b) To provide laws applying to the Union as a whole, therefore advancing article 1a and advancing policies in all member states.
c) To ensure peace and goodwill to the best of its ability.
d) To improve the economies of the member states.
e) One policy for article 1d will be advising, although not enforcing, the use of the Sliding Dollar in member states.
f) To keep the citizens of member states safe and ensure their basic rights.
g) To protect member states by member states agreeing to defend any other member state in times of conflict.
- 2. Definitions of Roles
a) "To guide member states..."

i) Acknowledges that not all member states will be accepting of all decisions
ii) Believes an opt-out system is the best way to ensure that this guide is maintained
ii) Therefore all Sliding Union legislation will include opt-out clauses

i) Ensures that legislation is provided through the democratic process
ii) Ensures region-wide issues take precedence over the Sliding Union issues
iii) All laws will be voluntary, acknowledging that not all nations in the bloc will possess the ability or motivation to adhere to all legislation
iv) Any nation that has an interior mandate for ending involvement with the Union may leave the bloc
v) Laws opted in will hold prevalence over national laws
vi) An independent body will be set up as a watchdog to ensure that nations involved abide by their commitments

i) Believes that heightened co-operation and discussion between the member nations of the Sliding Union will in itself prevent conflict
ii) Recommends all nations in the bloc become members of international co-operation groups, i.e. the sporting association

ii) Creates Sliding Union Defensive Organisation (SUDO)
iii) Stresses that no individual nations are required to raise military spending to accommodate less-militaristic bloc members, pacifism is welcomed
a) All nations are considered equal in the Sliding Union, with no allowances for population, economy or any other indicators
b) No vetos will be present
c) Regional officers or Assembly members will have no extra powers
d) Members will send a puppet nation (preferably new) to the newly established region for debates on the Sliding Union
e) Simple majorities only required for all legislation

Acknowledges the good intentions of the Sliding union act.
However noting the lack of activity within the region, and the embarrassment this might cause to the region.

1. Strikes the Sliding Union Act from the Slide Countries Law.
