FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Luraqau's Distinction

Luraqau became a citizen of the New West Indies on May 1st, 2018, and they are currently the longest remaining resident of the region besides the Founder. Two months later, on July 1st, 2018, Luraqau became the first Secretary of Internal Affairs (then called the 'Secretary of State for Internal Affairs') in New West Indies history under Secretary-General Canilu.

Luraqau remains the longest serving Secretary and government official ever in the same position, consecutively serving as Secretary of Internal Affairs from July 1st, 2018 until their resignation on November 14th, 2019. That term amounts to 501 days (or one year and 136 days), and that led them to achieving the First Class Government Award, the first official to (retroactively) do so. During that span, they also served under three different Secretary-Generals, garnering a unique perspective on regional administration.

More than just a longstanding official, Luraqau provided a sense of stability for our nascent region. As Secretary, they managed the regional roleplay map and issued citizenship, which were necessary for world-building and community growth, respectively. This reliability allowed the government to focus on other tasks. Additionally, they helped administer the in-character census, which detailed general information about all roleplay nations. They also helped create the first Puppet Registry and multiple social polls on-site that increased our security and culture, respectively.

Without Luraqau, the New West Indies would not have known the same stability, assurance, and opportunity to grow as it has.

For longtime service to our Internal Affairs, Luraqau shall be inducted into the Order of Harmony.
