UKMC Season 2 - Part 1

Amatsumikaboshi, Pupatory, United Kingdom(BGM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAZKjQZFLOg)
The sun was up, the sky was clear, the blowing wind from the sea blows directly through the silky curtains.
Hearing the sound of the calm waves, as if time itself has slowed down.
“Kana, Wake up~ Wake up!”
The short light gold dyed haired girl rolling onto the side facing the wall, burying her face deeper into the pillows. Ichihara Kana attempts to ignore both the sound of the alarm and Mashiro’s voice.
“Ugh- what's with you today.... just one more hour, Mashiro~”
“We’ll be late for class, Kana. Mr Konishi will be mad at us again!”
Getting annoyed by her roommate’s voice, she threw her pillow at Mashiro, tackle, and pushed her down on the floor in her blanket Causing a mess in the room as plushies fell from the shelves.
“How dare you disturb my beauty slumber!~”
She smirks and said to Mashiro, who was now trapped under the blanket with Kana on top. Except it didn’t happen.
None of this did.
What Kana pushed down was nothing but card boxes, no plushies fell, because they simply weren’t there. So is her friend.
Awaken from her daydream, facing the cold cracked ground of a plant covered ruined apartment complex, Kana sits up slowly.
The alarm clock was still beeping.
[jr]
Slowly reaching for the alarm and turns it off.
Looking out the shattered window, A strange feeling of nostalgia hits.
The same town, the same view.
Beyond the sea of green ruined buildings, construction of the bright white New Amatsuikaboshi city could be seen in the distance as massive cranes are being installed.
Picking up the pillow and stood up in her pajamas.
Looking around the room, nothing much from the past was left, only this cracked picture frame.
A picture of an older, easier time.
A picture of Kana, Mashiro and three more of her friends smiling on stage in front of the local coastal monument.
The sky in the picture was as clear as it is today.
‘Celestial5 idol group Amatsumikaboshi concert 6/4/2008’
Although some may say it was a period of illusion and blind happiness.
To her, whether it was blind or not, it didn’t matter. What matters is that it happened.

After taking a shower from the waterfall that formed when this building collided with the next, connected to the mountain.
The songs of birds and the calming sound of leaves could be heard along with the waterfall.
Putting on a straw hat, all shorts, she returned to her room.
She quickly packed her belongings, including the picture frame, and began to slowly climb down the ruins by sliding down the vines.
“Safe~”
She said once she touches the ground.
The half collapsed ruins and the plants made a rather interesting shading on the campus. While the campusis indeed covered by the shadows, tiny streams of light were able to leak through. A perfect balance between light and dark.
Turning on her radio, she dances as she walks through the campus.
Passing through the library, boys dormitory, the labs, the office, and finally the rusty gates.

She stopped in front of the gate, closed her eyes.
A lively town and campus could be heard and felt.
Students of that era lining up at the bakery across to get breakfast. The old lady who always talks with the patrolling police in the morning, the security guard who slacks off.
And finally, herself, she racing with her friends to the campus entrance despite that fact they’re university students.
And the same police would always tell them to stop with such childish acts.
“It’s nice to be young”
The old lady would always say.
“As if I would let you get a 3 streak in a row, Kana!”
“Sigh, why are we doing this every morning…. I wanna sl-”
“Mashiro surely has it easy, having Kana waking you up every morning.”
While the four were chattering, Kana reaches the gates again. Laughing with pride.
Daydreams are nice.
It allows you to dive into your memories to experience lost things once more.
Opening her eyes, Kana turns and looks at the now ruined campus taken back by mother nature.
“I think it looks better this way”
She said, as she bows at the campus before leaving.
Walking along the beach to avoid road blockades.
“The sand is surely hot.”
She said, quickly walks closer to the sea.
The clear and clear waves calmly washes her legs as the bright sun continues to shine onto the beach without any blockades of the clouds.
No ships, cars, nor people for miles, it was just her.
Taking out a camera, it was an old model. The camera had mascot stickers.
Standing on the beach, she took a picture of the green city ruins, beach, and finally the shipless vast ocean with the destroyed Rias space elevator in the distance.

Walking a little further, taking out her picture frame. Confirming the location.
It was the stage they performed on 12 years ago.
Due to the main structure was originally carved out of stone, it is well preserved.
However the stage is covered in collapsed metallic structures.
The seats are now covered in sand.
She carefully climbed onto the stage, avoiding sharp objects.
Standing at the center, the center of the stage, the center of the world.
“This surely brings back memories, right? Laruna? Charlotte? Chifuya? Mashiro?”
They four nodded in agreement behind her.
Smiling from their responses, she took out her the camera once more, and took pictures of the area.
And finally the group.
“These pictures will certainly make an attractive article.”
She said to herself happily, and continues her journey through the post apocalyptic nation, towards south, alone.[/quote]

5km from miraculum cell spiral tree, ground zero, Hinomoto, United Kingdom
The great Hinomoto wasteland is now covered in unknown harmless plantations caused by the outbreak of the miraculum cell and the incident back in the abandoned underground orphanage.
At the heart of it, there stood a 2.6-kilometer tree-like structure that reshaped the United Kingdom’s skyline in a single afternoon. Its pollen also cured the teardrop plague for Serpentuem, also ending the war on both sides. The massive tree is currently guarded by one of the few remaining Arsenal Rays. Ground zero is currently an extremely guarded area, however, it is not close to civilian visit, this is because of the teardrop plague treatment center Serpentuem set up there.
The United Kingdom never had time to nor the resources to prevent former residents from returning to the area to rebuild their homes. The people who returned to their home quickly adapted to the new scenery, massive craters, collapsed highways, plant-covered ruins, the spiral tree, and more. Despite knowing the United Kingdom would never be the same again after having casualties of 21 million and still counting, due to the large scale destruction of security cameras, law enforcement has greatly weakened. For the past months, the public security and the military police has launched a countless crackdown on self-governing criminal territories.

In this certain vast grassy plain under a cloudless sky, an old black diesel convertible car stopped by the side of the road, just next to the melted lamp post.
“So that’s where Jezabelstien’s laser was hit huh?”
Shinozaki scrolling the news on her phone as she lean on the seat, facing the sun under the protection on a pair of sunglasses.
Meanwhile Marissa went over to the bush to take a sample of the plantation that thrived on the glass like crater caused by Irene’s light.
Injecting the sample into a small handle testing device with both the SSS and Yotsubashi logo on the back. Waiting for the testing result, Marissa looked around for any incomign cars, then took off her hood, letting her feline ears out.
“As expected these plants are also caused by the miraculum cells.”
Marissa reported back to Shinozaki as she packs up the medical equipment.
“Do you really think Akko is still somewhere in there?”
Shinozaki asks Marissa as she turns to look at the branches spiral tree a kilometer above.
“If what that madman Mendelson said was right, the miraculum cells twists one’s wish into physical form. Just like what happened to the orphanage, and ever-improving organ production system, harvesting to learn, to improve, to save. However, it killed more than it saved.”
Marissa casually explained as she lay on the soft ground covered by grass as she looked up at the coloussal tree in front of her.
“The miraculum cells… perhaps it wanted a purpose. That’s why they take in desires and materialize them. That’s why I believe they are.”
Marissa said, closing her eyes and taking a nap under the warmth of the sun.
“Semi-sentinel single-cell organism theory huh. Not bad, but I wonder if those old people in the medical society could take it, especially when it’s a report written by someone who just recently joined.”
“You’re probably right Shinozaki, I doubt they would take it seriously hahaha.”
.
.
.
The two enjoyed the scenery and the close feeling of nature by the breezing wind.
“Well, I guess it’s time we should go.”
Marissa suggested as she gets up and puts on her hood.
“You sure? I’m not sure if you could see the tree as clearly as here in Edokyuuria, shouldn't you spend a bit more time?”
Shinozaki asks as she fixes the driver seat.
“I’m good, I’m sure I would be able to see it from the Senate Terminal arcology.”
“...”
Marissa walked over to one of the smaller giant roots of the colossus tree, hugging it.
“I’ll come to visit again, Akko.”
.
.
.
“We have no choice but to go through the northern ruins, the highway is pretty much collapsed.”
Shinozaki explained as she started the engine. Marissa puts the suitcase in the backseat as she helps to set the GPS guide.
“Ugh forget it, we’ll use the physical map instead.”
Shinozaki muttered in slight frustration since most of the listed routes are unavailable.
“Good thing your sister still kept a diesel car, otherwise we won’t be able to come all the way out here without recharging.”
Marissa commented as she took out the map from Shinozaki’s bag.
“Inaban isn’t a big fan of electric cars after all.”
Shinozaki replied as she stepped on the gas.

New Maidpara cafe, Senate Terminal Arcology, Edokyuuria crater
The military police intelligence branch that had been covered up as a maid cafe, Maidpara was unusually crowded today. The cafe was moved to the mall district of the Arcology, the original shop was destroyed along with the entirety of the great Edokyuuria urban district, which is now known as the Edokyuuria crater.
“And so? You came here to ask for love advice. What are you, a high schooler?”
Sutsushi replied, with disappointment. She is one of the military police officers stationed here, and also a former guard of the old Shinozaki administration. Along with communist force defector Albert Lionheart, she and Shinozaki fought their way to escape the former senate terminal during the civil war period.
Their friendship with Akima and Inaban was built after that.
“You do know that you're the only one I could ask.”
Akima replied, frustrated by her insult.
“Have you taken her out on a date?”
“Sieg is in ruins...”
“Perfect. I’m sure you can see the entire galaxy at night, there’s not much light pollution now isn’t it? Why not use that to your advantage?”

Naval Academy and HQ, Sieg-II
Meanwhile on the deck of the constructing DDR-N241, nuclear destroyer Hakuhou.
“Admiral, why am I here? And why are you asking me for love advice?”
Albert Lionheart asked after hearing the request from Inaban. He does not want to get involved in this matter at all.

Chancellor's office, Senate Terminal Arcology, Edokyuuria crater
Cleaning up the documents, piling them, putting them on the table was an unusual act of our lazy hikikomori Chancellor Fuyuki Mashiro.
“It’s finally done.”
She muttered as she took a long look around her organized office for the first time.
“I guess it’s a new start from here.”
She muttered as she carefully sneaked out of the office, putting on a pair of glasses, letting her hair loose, she casually took the elevator to the parking lot.
“Now I can’t be late for Tatiana’s hospital discharge can I?”

Vice GE Victoria knocked on the door, no response. Mashiro must’ve fallen asleep again, that’s what she thought.
She forcefully opened the door, slamming it as she called Mashiro. The room was extremely organized to a point she couldn’t believe it. She had to close the door and open them again to make sure it wasn’t an illusion.

Northern Edokyuuria Ruins, Old Miotus, United Kingdom
“Take a good look, Marissa. This place used to be part of the great Edokyuuria urban district. You’ve probably seen the old skyline from the pictures back in the orphanage 20 years ago… well if you remember-”
Shinozaki explained as she carefully drives through the plant-covered ruins. The district has completely returned to nature, forests were grown from the ruined apartments as water walls could be seen coming off from the former offices and malls.
“It’s hard to imagine this was once a metropolis.”
She replied, looking at the plant-covered concrete structures that seemed like it would reach the sky.
“Are these also caused by the miraculum cells?”
Marissa asked as she looked at the abandoned restaurants and shops covered in vines.
“Oh no, these places were here like this, way before the outbreak.”
“I see.”

“The bushes are getting really dense here…”
Shinozaki muttered as she slowed down the car even more. Marissa continues to observe the abandoned street view of the northern urban district. The two were unaware of something, falling above them.
“UNYAAAAA”
A girl fell into the back seat of their car. The two were startled, and Shinozaki immediately stepped on the break.
“That hurts…”
The girl said as she held onto the doors as support to get up.
“Shinozaki, did she just… fell... from..”
“She sure did. Marissa.”
The girl quickly swipes the dust off her pants and fixes her bag, judging from her camera showing in her bag, and the notebook in her hands. She seems to be a journalist of some sort.
“I did make it! Yay!”
She seems very proud of her jump.
“Excuse me… but who are you?”
Shinozaki asks, extremely confused by this girl’s behavior.
“Me? I’m traveling journalist Ichihara Kana~! A former idol of the Celestial Five~!”

Midquel 3
Block N4L2 Lobby, Senate Terminal Arcology, Edokyuuria crater
Mikel Blaney was certainly relieved the moment he saw the door of the crowded elevator opened. Office workers of sorts in suits quickly rushed out to head back after their lunch break.
Verteran Lieutenant Mikel Blaney of Serpenteum’s special force that survived the abandoned orphanage compound. He left the military, traumatized and decided to move to Edokyuuria following a suggestion by a frenemy he met during the operation, Sakamoto Ryoma, who seems to be on a mission to protect a strange girl, Marissa.
After the flesh and gore mass covered the compound were turned into plantation, creating the Spiral Tree Speranta Anomaly. The expansion and the restructuring of the miraculum cells formed a tunnel, allowing them to the surface. It was most likely Akko’s doing, that’s what Marissa insisted on. The moment they arrive at the surface, the war has stopped as the plantation continues to infest the wasteland destroying most of the United Kingdom’s Aragami security drones on the field. At the same time a compound of unknown within the pollen of the tree cured the Teardrop plague. It was that moment when both sides ceases fire. The tree could be seen anywhere in the United Kingdom after all.
“If you ever quit, come over to Edokyuuria, I’m sure I can get something to work with.”
That was what Sakamoto said, as he went on the chopper.

Stepping out of the newly installed elevator of the Edokyuuria Arcology, holograms could be seen everywhere simulating sceneries of pre-war Edokyuuria. In other words, a metropolis that reaches even beyond the horizon. Blaney has never been to Edokyuuria, he has only seen the city from television and other United Kingdom entertainment programs such as anime.
Despite the hologram covered hallway, different shops and government departments have hologram advertisements on their own. Making the scenery rather complicated, busy and somewhat annoying.
He walks over to the information center, asking direction for the immigration office within the ministry of foregin affair block.

Getting off the train, arriving to foregin affair block. Instead of holograms, the wall of the seven stories tall lobby was made of some sort of reinforced glass. There was even a door to the outer ringed balcony outside, where restaurants and cafes reside.
Blaney checks his ticket, there was still some time until when he is required to show up in the front office. He steps outside as everything turns to white due to the strong sun’s reflection onto the crater sea that last interrestial war has created. A single surviving Arcology above a small landmass at the center of world’s largest crater, and lake. Half submerged ruins of the former urban district could be seen near the shore of the Arcology. Four massive bridges stretch out to the shadows barely visible on the horizon. The wind was rather strong today, the flags of MoonBucks and WcDonalds could be seen blown straight toward the north.
He took out his binocular from his bag, a parting gift from the military. He then looks towards the shadows on the horizon with it. It was just a bunch of half submerged ruins. No land, the crater was clearly bigger than he expected.
Just how many people died here?
He thought. Remembering the holographic pre-war images of the capitol. Edokyuuria was destroyed by a Valrassari WMD about 9 months ago. The sole surviving structure was the mainframe of the Senate Terminal, now remodeled to an Arcology, due to the decreased population.
How many people made it out alive? The idea of tens of millions being incinerated within seconds has gotten his hand to shake in fear.
He decided this was enough, as he put away his binocular, a young woman crashed into him, pushing him to the ground, dropping the serpenteum military grade binocular to the ground, cracking one of the lens. At the same time, she dropped her glasses.
“I’m so sorry!”
She immediately apologized as she got up from him. Blaney slowly sits up, trying to absorb what just happened. A woman probably in her 30s picked up his binocular, including the shattered pieces. She brushes her brown long hair aside as she looks for her glasses. She was wearing a somewhat XXL size coat that was clearly not her size… she is giving off this clumsy type of person feeling.
“Oh- um- It’s fine.”
Blaney replied as he stood up with the support of the handrail on the side. She picks up her glasses from the ground and quickly puts it back on as if it was some sort of disguise.
“Ehhh…. Ehhh.. umm… well…… Right…”
Looking at the unique binocular model, it had an insignia of a snake engraved.
She thought for a moment and answered nervously.
“Here’s my contact. I’m sorry, but I’m currently in a hurry…… I’ll pay for the repairs.”
“Huh.. well… It’s fine-”
Before Blaney could reject her offer, the young woman just pushed her business card into his hand.
“I’m soooo sorry!”
Her apology could be heard as she ran off into the distance, toward the parking eastern parking block.
“....well.”
He muttered as he turned to the card in his hand. It was something that looked like a supermarket discount point card. She must’ve mixed it up.
“Seriously... “
Blaney sighed and put the point card into his wallet.
He waited outside until it was about time to enter the warrant office. Checking his phone as he sat at the waiting area, trying ignore the discriminating stares from the Miotian elderly next to him. And some gossip from the Candorian girls behind him.
That’s right, despite both governments being willing to work together again, the scars of war obviously haven't been healed on either side.
Blaney felt their stare could and gossiping could crush him any moment, hoping for his queue number to be called soon.
“No. 235 Please come to front desk 04”
Blaney was relieved when he heard the announcement. He quickly picks up his bag and left for the counter.
Waiting for the office worker to finish copying his documents, Blaney looks up to the glass ceiling after a commercial airship passes by.
“An airship? That’s rare.”
The airship seems to be some sort of government advertisement. It had a simple display hanging below the hull. Posters of different politicians could be seen.
“Come to think of it, it’s almost time for the Miotia-Candor’s election.”
Blaney mumurred. As the blimp changes its angle, a certain candidate caught his attention. This young candidate was running for her second term. However, something about her looks seems to be familiar to someone he...
“Wait a minute.”

Yotsubishi Tanabe Pharma Akademe Hospital,Akademe-Stadt-II, Edokyuuria Crater
When she was getting off her car, her long brownish black hair was stuck, and curled up on her seat.
“Ack- That hurts.”
Mashiro mumurred after her first attempt to get off her car resulted in pulling her hair. Quickly untying them from the seat.
When was the last time she let her hair loose like this? She questions herself as she closes and locks the door. She then turned her attention at the small burnt and deformed mascot figurine hanging from the rear-view mirror. On the back of the mascot “6/4/2008 Celestial-5 Concert” was printed onto it.
“...”
After a long sad look at the mascot, she turns and walks toward the hospital entrance.

Following the nurse’s guidance, Mashiro arrives at room 014 at the local Yotsubishi Tanabe Pharma Hospital. Opening the door, the full special Tod division was already there. Graf, Hijikata, and Okita were already there talking and laughing as they played a sort of card game. Tatiana was on the patient bed staring out at the Edokyuuria crater lake like a doll.
“Who’s there!?”
Hijikasta asks immediately, turning toward the door as he drops his NoU cards. They obviously couldn't recognize her with her disguise.
Mashiro takes off her glasses after she closes the door with a big smile and said:
“It’s me Mar*o!”
“Give the 4th wall a goddamn break!” x3

“So you sneaked out… of your office again…?”
Okita asks as he shuffles the deck of cards for a new game.
“How rude! I came out here to ‘visit war veterans’ and gain supporters for the upcoming elections!”
Mashiro replied sarcastically before breaking into a giggle.
“Right. Right. You’ve got your priorities right.”
Graf agreed with an unconvinced tone.
“So how is she doing?”
She changes the topic and turns over to Tatiana, who is still staring out at the lake.
Silence quickly filled the room as no one wanted to answer.
“When she activated the stone, something caused the miraculum emulated neurons in her amygdala to change. Even good old war criminal Pure Gene Research Institution’s bioengineering copyright code has been messed up. If she did develop any emotion before the incident just like you people claimed, she must’ve lost it during it. ”
A voice could be heard from behind. The group quickly turned over to the door, realizing the doctor just entered.
“You are?”
Mashiro quickly puts on her glasses and asks.
“I’m Alfred Heller, the doctor in charge of her treatment.”
The man in his 40s claimed as he leaned on the door.
“A Heller… you’re the army minister-”
Hijikata muttered, he was quickly cut off.
“Nick? Yeah, he’s my brother.”
He explained with a smile.
Unlike the rest of the operatives, Mashiro felt uneasy. The combined ministry of defense led by Inaban Fuyu was short lived, independent military branches returned to their original command structure right before the start of the Serpenteum war back in May 2019.
Despite the navy under admiral Inaban continuing to support the democratic side, the army that has been getting their budget cut still mainly consist of the pre-civil war regime’s personnels. Not to mention how mysterious the airforce acts with their increased budget approved due to the ever growing threat down south. The only thing that prevented another coup after the both the Valrassari and Serpenteum war was the new ATHENA law enforcement system.
If anything, the army will want to get their hands on the miraculum cells research data to overthrow the evergrowthing military police due to the mass production of Aragami units under ATHENA.
This person, Alfred Heller is related to General Nick Heller. Has he gotten the data he wants from Tatiana? No.. this hospital has installed a stress scan…. Eh? What if Yotsubishi Corporation works with the army? Won’t that disable the stress scan within this building-
*beep*
“Eh?”
An alert came directly from Mashiro’s phone, cutting off her thought.
Even if it was just her imagination, the doctor seems to have slightly grin.
It was noticed from the ATHENA system, warning of her own stress level rosen by 4.34.
“Miss Mashiro?”
Hijikata asked after seeing Mashiro’s pale face for the first time.
“Yeah? Yeah.. sorry. It's something about work... “
Mashiro vaguely explained before packing up her belongings. She then walks over to Tatiana.
Tatiana turns over looking at her with the soulless eyes that resembles ones of a dead fish.
Holding her cold hands, Mashiro smiled as the sun shines into the room.
“How are you feeling?”
“...Who?”
She really doesn’t remember.
“Well, I’m Mashiro Fuyuki, nice to meet you, again.”
“Mahiro…”

“You’re going back already?”
Graf asks in slight disappointment, however he seems to understand. Mashiro walks to the door, passing by the doctor.
“Try to stay mentally healthy.. Young chancellor.”
The doctor creepily whispered as Mashiro passed by.
“You too... “
Mashiro replied without looking back at him.

Haruhabara-II, Edokyuuria crater
The capital of the United Kingdom’s anime and manga industry, Haruhabara has been rebuilt on a section of the reclaimed land just outside of the Arcology.
In the sea of electric cars, the was one that still runs on diesel.
“I don’t even know where we are going to find a gas station here if we run out of gas..”
Shinozaki complained as she drove. Marissa now with her hood on, covering her feline features is now looking at the new complex central district’s map.
“Shinyazaki. When you said Edokyuuria is a multilayer city hellscape, I didn’t expect this.”
Marissa complained, trying her hardest to assist Shinozaki in the rebuilt capital.
The unexpected guest, Ichihara Kana, a strange self proclaimed journalist started taking pictures of the scenery. Her face was full of curiosity like a child.
“Celestial five… isn’t that a famous university idol group that disbanded like 12 years ago after that certain terroris”
Shinozaki asks the childish but she was immediately cut off before she could finish.
“That’s not true! We’ve been traveling the nation performing lately!”
“Oh… is that so?”
Shinozaki replied, she isn’t much of an idol fan, its natural if she doesn’t know.
“Anyway where should we drop you off? We’re going to Haruhabara military police headquarters.”
Shinozaki asked as she made a turn to the indoor electronic street.
“Ummm, can you get me to Arcology entrance block N8L1?”
“No problem.”

URN Hakuhou N241, Naval Academy and Headquarters, Sieg-II
“She’s big.”
Inaban with a safety helmet commented on the Heavy aviation destroyer Hakuhou under construction.
“She surely is.”
One of her former students and New chief engineer Helena May next to her replied. They watch the second experimental nuclear reactor slowly being installed in the shipyard while other engineers are connecting the electric platings. A section of the CFRP hull is submerged in water to test the newly developed “Mask” device. One that generates bubbles to distract torpedo sensors as a last result.
As the two continue to admire the massive vessel, Inaban receives a phone call from the Naval Academy.
“Yeah?”
...
“What do you mean there’s a visitor from Feng standing in the front gate?”
Inaban left the shipyard and heads back to the academy to meet this unusual visitor.

Miotian Imperial Times
Deadlines and Ultimatum
Edokyuuria has sent an ultimatum to New Republic of Frontera midnight. Geographic records, safety documentation of certain Yotsubishi equipment, Trade deals after Rias Union, monthly report of corrosion within the Sitnalta frame, are all overdue.
This does not apply only to politics, even the private industries are affected by overdue work.
Edokyuuria suspects corruption within the high level of the Frontrean government. Edokyuuria issued an ultimatum, demanding New Republic of Frontera to either apply for an extension plan with clearly written schedules or submit their overdue work. They have 12 hours before the United Kingdom takes action.

We've also interviewed some of the naval personnel in the Naval Academy:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Voice1: What!? We're going to what now!?
Reporter: Edokyuuria has isussed-
Voice2: Inaban, we're going to invade Frontera?
Voice1: Just- shut up, Akima.
Reporter: Excuse me?
Voice1: This is outrageous... Must've been a suggestion from Hirosei-
Reporter: Hirosei? As in the Airforce's-?
Voice1: Nevermind that! Anyway, there's nothing much we could do about it, we will follow the schedule and depart if the worst happens.
Reporter: Wait- Wait a moment!
Voice1: Guards, take this unwanted visitor out of the hanger.
Reporter: Wait-
Voice1: Sorry miss, this is a restricted area in the first place.
Voice2: You do know that they're streaming live right, Inaban?

Hirosei Estate, Flugel, United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor
“M’lady, it seems like the first fleet has left the naval academy. Your transport is also ready”
The butler walked into the office and reported to Hirosei Hana.
“Thank you, I’ll be there soon.”
Hirosei replied politely and returned writing her email. The Butler left the room and closed the massive fancy wooden door quietly.
Now she is alone again in her office. The sound of a pendulum at the corner could be heard clearly again.
“Now then… let’s have some fun shall we? Inaban? Heller?”
She smirked as she put her coat on and sent the email. Taking a folder with her, with the insignia of the Voluntas Company.

Walking out to the sunlight, a transport helicopter was waiting for her.
Just as she took the steps into the vehicle, the sky suddenly turned dark.
It was an Arsenal Ray passing by, heading toward the west, Frontera.
“Well, it’s time for us to go too.”
She murmured as the door of the transport closed. Showing the seal of the Chief Staff of the Airforce.

First Fleet, URN DDVN Hakuhou, Nautilus, Frontera Weather: Foggy
F-37 began to take off, scouting the area ahead as fully anti-submarine equipped Ashigara-class DDGs scout the DDVN.
“Well, who would’ve thought her maiden voyage would be like this?”
Captain Akima commented as he came back inside to the bridge from the fog.
“That can’t be helped. While our real goal is to smoke out what happened to that governor plane that was shot down in Mendenwall back in december can’t believe we’re doing it by sheer force…”
Inaban signed, fixing her admiral cap as she leaned on the wall. She backed away from the wall quickly, realizing the paint wasn’t dry.
“Great…”

Second Fleet and the 3rd Battalion, Trinada, Weather: Foggy
As landing crafts reached the beach, the URA and the URN could see that the Fronteran were clueless on what’s about to happen.
The occupation forces were able to make their way through the Fronterans capital like tourists. While many other Frontereans take pictures, videos, etc, thinking this is a parade of sorts.
“...I do believe they are missing the point”
One of the soldiers said.

As the occupation moved toward the capitol building, the streets were suddenly cleared.
“Where is everyone?”
Not before long, a battalion of unregistered classes of green and yellow Aragami Sentries marches out of the mist in uniform. Forming a blockade.

“What is the meaning of this!?”
Chief of Army Staff Nick Heller shouted through the SOOM call conference.

Yotsubishi Tanabe Pharma, Sitanita, Frontera
“Who are you people!?”
Doctor Boikin asked the masked agents who broke into the foundation facility.
The masks had no facial features other than a thin line for eyes and mouth.
They broke into the facility copying and stealing the database, then destroyed it.
“Our higher ups had enough playing nice and friendly with the ‘enemy’.”
One of them spoke before leaving the room through a collapsed wall.
“Our?”
The mysterious ‘thieves’ left, however there is more suffering to come. The United Kingdom’s military is slowly breaking into the underwater city via hacking into the lockdown system. Due to the fact not a single shot was fired yet from either side. Neither side dared to spark it.

Unknown forces, Underwater tunnels.
“Hurry up!”
The masked one in lead shouted, holding the door open for the rest of the team.
“To think we could’ve saved the entire database into three SSDs.”
“We must take it back as soon as possible. Who knows when the ‘enemy’ would strike?”
“Like now?”
A man’s voice could be heard from behind, they have been followed by someone.
Sakamoto Ryouma, of the Neo-Sphinx division of the SSS 3rd branch and his team were all aiming at the ‘thieves’.
“You gave us a flavor of retrieving the blueprint from the 8th branch. Which we’ve always been suspicious of. I’ll thank you for giving them a hard day. However, I don’t like killing brats, it really does recommend you to surrender and hand over the SSDs.”

“The 3rd branch!? So that means the United Royal Navy is here already…”
The shorter masked agent muttered in panic.
“Oh? You even know about the ties between the navy and the 3rd branch huh?”
Sakamoto replied, impressed.
“We’re not your enemy.”
The masked leader said.
“Perhaps, but that doesn’t matter, we have our orders.”
Sakamoto insisted.
“The true enemy is-”

“I’ll count to 3, before that, surrender to us.”
Sakamoto said coldly.
“1”
The masked agents did not move an inch.
“2”
The tension rises as mine exploding could be heard through the walls.
“3”
“We refuse.”
The leading figure of the masked agents shouted.
“Tsk.”
The thieves reminded him of Marissa’s stubbornness.
“Why does this dirty job include killing kids so damn much…”
Sakamoto muttered in regret as he gave the signal to fire.
One of the older masked agents rushed to the front and took out what looked like a rectangular shield, blocking the heavy fire.
“What- there’s no way she could’ve carried that-”
Before Sakamoto could react, another masked agent released paralyzing gas in the area.
“These- these are extinct equipment from the former reign-”
The oxygen tanks and masks were very quickly destroyed by something that looked like a red hot cutter knife.
“Damn you-”
The Neo-Sphinx Division quickly fell unconscious.

“Quickly! Get on the boat!””
The leader of the masked agents ordered as the fog gets even thicker on the surface.
“I can’t wait to get back home and tell everyone about our trip.”
The little seems excited.
The boat quickly departs and disappears into the fog, heading toward an ancient shadow.

First Fleet, URN DDVN Hakuhou, Nautilus, Frontera Weather: Foggy
“This is DDH Aoshima to DDVN Hakuhou, the 5th battalion has secured the underwater city and the 8th branch of the Yotsubishi Corporation.”
“This is DDVN Hakuhou to DDH Aoshima, secure to the central command center of the hospital, we don’t want anyone from activating the underwater fortress. That thing is the equivalent of Edokyuuria.”
Akima replied via transmitter as he looked out into the fog.
“Unde… sto…”
DDH Aoshima CIC replied, however the signal is getting weaker.
“?”
Suddenly the first officer Oriba Ooyama slammed open the hatch and called Akima back inside the bridge.
“We’re being jammed.”
“What!?”
“We’re being jammed. Sir!”
“What do you mean we’re being jammed!? We’re in goddamn Frontera!”
The next moment and explosion could be seen in the thick mist. Which shocked the entire fleet, the fighting has begun.

“All hands, Battlestation!”
Inaban ordered as Akima climbed down from the upper deck into CIC.
“What’s the situation!?”
Akima asked as he walked over to the radar officer.
“Sir, our FAF system has been hacked, every single ship and jet out there is labelled as hostiles-”
Before the officer could finish, an explosion shocked the entire ship.
“We’re firing at ourselves sir.”
“That’s impossible-”
He cut off and turned to Inaban, both nodding in agreement. It’s a backdoor in the program planned by Yotsubishi Corporation.
“Use morse, while we try the radio, I want every single jet and ship to switch to the preinstalled 2016 FAF right now.”
Akima ordered.

“So that’s why they wanted me on board…”
IT department chief sighed at the corner.

One by one the red spots on the radar slowly return to blue.
Everyone in the CIC sighed.
Akima quickly asked for a damage report, which turned out one F-37 destroyed and minor damage on the DDG Awoo.
“Well, it could be worse-”
Just when he thought the wave was over, a new blue dot appeared on the radar.
“There shouldn’t be anymore-”
Before the radar officer could finish, the radar data was mysteriously malfunctioning. Making the last blue dot appearing all over and there.
“Captain, you probably want to see this!”
First officer Oriba Ooyama called from the bridge.

Inaban and Akima quickly took the lift to the bridge. Upon arriving, other than the malfunctioning electronics, a massive black shadow could be seen in the distance.
“I don’t remember any landmarks here on the map.”
Inaban said as she went for a closer look with her binocular.

“This is really strange, it's like one of those phenomena in Kuzikistan sea, or what the Second Combined Fleet encounter during the Serpentuem war.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about Ooyama.”
Akima commented on the first officer’s muttering.
“Our tracking system won’t-”
“Incoming!”
Inaban shouted.
“Incoming? But missile won’t-”
Before the crew could react An explosion coming from the deck and DDG Fubuki could be seen.
“What was that!?”
Akima asked as he held onto the wall until the ship stabilized.
Looking out the window, DDG Fubuki’s superstructure has been completely destroyed, the vessel was on the verge of capsizing. DDVN Hakuhou’s deck sustained mild damage due to the double plat conduction armor she has.
“That’s no missile… that’s a goddamn naval gun!”
Akima shouted as he walked over to the center of the bridge.
The giant shadow approaches at a stunning speed that could rival Hakuhou’s.
As the mysterious vessel approaches, four twin 35.6cm caliber naval guns could be seen aiming at DDNV Hakuhou and DDG Awoo.
“It’s a Haruna-Class Fast Battleship, the one my father told me about.”
Tactical officer Hayato Amamori said in shock.
“A ghost ship.. huh?”
Oriba Ooyama suspects as he orders to have the four AGS-X target the unidentified battleship.
“All AGS-X prepares for HP rounds, we need to disable those 35.6cm or we’re good as dead!”

“You’re telling me that thing is a Haruna-Class? The one from the Kkhano war!?”
“Yes Captain, I’m sure of it.”
“It’s a hundred year old-”
The four 35.6cm guns on the Haruna-Class fired. The shockwave and fire from the guns could be seen breaking through the thick fog.
DDG Awoo broke into two and sank, for DDVN Hakuhou while the electric plating took most of the damage, more than half of the hanger was destroyed.
It was a direct hit.

“How the hell did their electronics work in this area?”
Ooyama asked as he tried to get up from the floor.
“Eyes. they’re using their eyes.”
Amamori answered calmly as he admired the ancient battleship passed by.

“Why aren’t we firing!?”
Akima shouted at the AGS-X gun mounts.

Inaban stood on the edge of the balcony, admiring the floating relic. Noticed a paint over of some sort of wolf-like logo.
The crew of the Hakuhou watches in silence and admiration as the FBB Haruna passes by, leaving the heavily damaged first fleet behind.

??? FBB Haruna
On the bridge of the ‘ghost ship’ was filled with masked crew members.
“Sir, we’ve broken through the last line of the URN occupation fleet. As planned, we will reach our destination in half a day.”
The masked crewmen reported.
“We must leave this area before the fog clears. Her excellency is waiting.”
“Yes. Of course.”
The masked crewmen answered and returned to his post.

“We’re certainly outdated, but we’re not outgunned.”

Slowly in the fog and mist, the flag of the Voluntas Private Military Company could be seen flying by the FBB Haruna.

Afterward
The occupation of New Republic of Frontera and Mendenwall was successful. Edokyuuria launched an investigation of the crashed flight that carried a government corporation overseer of the Yotsubishi Corporation.
Furthermore, the URA has been putting pressure on the Fronterean government to finish their overdue works, ranging from internal governing to trade deals that should’ve been done back in mid 2019.
Other than the URF surrounding Fronterean ministries pursuing them to finish up their work, both Republics returned to their ordinary days.

The first fleet is rumored to be heavily damaged during the occupation, however the navy did not release any more information on the topic.

UKMC Season 2

Dear Itashikir,

How are you doing? Despite the unfortunate warfares that had taken place over here, I’m doing very well over here in the Republic.
Do you still remember that fateful day we met? Wheatfield that goes as far as to the horizon. Visible waves of wind passed through the field as we sat, and enjoyed the view of that summer starry night.
My memory of that day was as fresh as if it was yesterday.
This field where I currently settled certainly reminded me of Omoikane, our home.
Today marks the 23rd anniversary since we left.
I know it is still difficult for you to accept.
Please.
Return to us. In our new home.

Love, Opere

June 4th, 3:20am
The humanoid figure puts away the letter as the Shinkansen emerges from the tunnel. The ruined and plant-covered view of the former Amatsumikaboshi could be seen. Especially the former local university campus and the concert stage at the beach. The fans and families of the victims of the Celestial 5 idol group gathered at the stage as the annual memorial ceremony held by the local university began.
To their own surprise, he did not turn away from looking at it.
They remember the scenery twelve years ago very well. They were simply following the chairman’s orders at that time. Morally blinded by their people’s fury and helplessness, they finally did what he was told.
For a certain period of time that guilt of what they did haunt them. However, these feelings started to turn dull as the years went on. Reason was one of the few things they still hold onto.
They know the path he chose was not of a hero’s.
“Justice must be done through heaven’s fall.”

June 5th, 2020, 12:16am, United Kingdom of ???, central capital: Edokyuuria
“Hold on!”
PHS operator Haru Shinozaki shouted as she forcefully turned the wheel, drifting through the alley.
“Just what the hell is happening!?”
Hawk Graf, the retired veteran in his casual clothes, asks as officer Albert Lionheart passes a pistol to him.
“As if we’ve got any idea.”
Albert replied while busy contacting the other field officers.
The sound of bullets hitting the armored vehicle could be heard as the chase continued.
Tatiana Graf, lost her consciousness after she was hit by a paralyzing round from the enemy. Officer Rika Sutsushi, and a good friend of the operator, sat beside Tatiana and monitored her health status.
“Have you figured out what caused her to pass out?”
Albert asked, lowering the window to return fire from the pursuers.
“The chemical found in the needle is similar to those used by the failed anti-Miraculum life contamination units.”
“Rika, I thought that project was abandoned!?”
“Either the Yotsubishi gave them the data or they had spies within the Corp.”
Shinozaki commented coldly as the vehicle returned to the main road. A curfew has been placed under the entire capital after the unfortunate events hours ago. A friend or foe filter was installed on the Athena crime prevention system. The United Royal Army moved in from Izanagi to seize control of the parliament. A state of emergency has been declared throughout the entire Republic and its overseas territories.
“Will she be ok?”
The girl in casual clothes who was sitting across from Tatiana and Sutsushi asked worriedly. She seems to be about the same age as Tatiana.
“The AMLCU failed to contain the spread of miraculum infestation in Hinomoto, I’m sure she will be fine.”
The officer replied, slightly surprised by the girl’s sudden question.
“Who is she anyway?”
Graf asks Shinozaki while he reloads his weapon.
“Not entirely sure. But Hirosei insisted on having her follow along.”
The girl in question did not reply, she stared at the red skyline of Edokyuuria as it got more distance from the vehicle.

June 4th, 2020, 6:50am, United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Edokyuuria, former ministry of defence
“Your move.”
Airforce’s chief executive Hana Hirosei said carefreely after she moved her chess piece.
On the other side of the table Army’s chief executive Nick Heller, was her opponent.
The two were sitting at the center of a completely empty and abandoned office of the minister of defence within the abandoned sector of the Edokyuuria Arcology.
Despite the fact there was no electricity, the two could see the chessboard surprisingly well.
“You’re going easy on me huh?”
Heller asked as he moved his piece and won. Hirosei smiled maliciously.
“What do you have in mind?”
Heller leaned back on the sofa and asked with suspicion.
“I was wondering what kind of future will you show the twin kingdoms?”
She asks him as the light of dawn shines through the broken window, causing a giant shadow of the two on the wall.
“...”
He did not reply.
“Uncertain huh? Or perhaps it won’t succeed if you let it out?”
“...”
“Well, either way, it’s time for me to depart. If you excuse me.”
Hirosei stood up and bowed at her colleague. Turning away from the table, her nobility aura could be felt just by looking at the movement of her cape.

Walking out of the abandoned sector, Hirosei makes a phone call, with the ID: V.
“It’s me. Get 053A out of the United Kingdom as soon as possible.”

June 4th, 2020, 8:00am, United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Kanatoro, Flugel, Airforce headquarters
In the vast desert of northern Kanatoro, a large group of trucks slowly approaches the Flugel Base. The base was not anything impressive on the surface, a runway, and a few buildings. However, it's an entirely different story underground. This is the largest airforce base within the United Kingdom, it is also the one that houses Arsenal Rays.
“Eh? A convoy of trucks?”
One of the guards asked after he saw the incoming convoy with his binoculars at the top of the control tower.
“Did our princess ordered some AAM-3 from Amason?”
The control tower asked sarcastically.
“I’m pretty sure Yotsubishi don’t sell AAM-3 on Amason, commander.”
The trucks stopped at the gate as the airforce guards slowly walked over.
“Whatsssuuuup-”
Before the guard could react, a bullet was put between his eyes. The next moment a squadron equipped with quantum stealth robes shot the other guards at the gate.
One of the soldiers had a rocket launcher aimed at the control tower.
“Sound the alert now!-”
The tower exploded, killing most of the officers.
In the burning remains of the control tower, the commander reached for the alarm.
“You’re not getting away with this… Heller.”

The alarm echoed through the colossal underground hanger as engineers dropped their tools and rushed to the shelter.
Gates to the surface slowly began to be sealed off one by one like airlocks.
The camouflaged force slowly advances into the surface base with little to no resistance.

June 4th, 2020, 12:10pm, United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Edokyuuria, The Citadel Square
“Is the World Union the answer? Was the World Union ever the answer? We did try to reach out to the world, and I believe that’s a good thing. Integration of Kjanu? Joining the WU? I believe that’s a grave mistake. Look at the current United Kingdom, you could hardly even call it administered at all. Do you really think the commonwealth would have approved the construction of the Midonia-Class orbital destroyers if we didn’t share the blueprints? Why did the Serpentuem Resistance War last so long? We have weapons of mass destruction, and they were in the silos rusting. If losing half of the country to Serpentuem forces isn’t enough to use them, when are we going to? The next time Serpentuem attacks we will use our nuclear arsenal.”
Saskia Piltz of the nationalist party furiously criticizes the Mashiro administration during this last debate right before the election on the 4th. The Citadel was the very top of the United Kingdom, physically and politically. In front of the capitol building, under a clear sky, the last political debate was held as seagulls gathered above.
“What good is there if we leave the World Union now? We’re a major power within the union if you haven’t realized yet. Rather than blaming it on the outside why don’t we have a look at the inside? We are one of the most technologically advanced nation, and yet we don’t utilize them in defence. Instead what the heck did we use these tech for? Entertainment!? Anime? We’ve been using the same infantry equipment for the past 3 decades.”
Nicola Lafrenz of the United Soicalist Party replied at Saskia Piltz’s comment.
“What? Are you going to take away the economic freedom of those industries? Why is war the first thing that comes to your tiny brains whenever we have a debate? Anyway, I’d agree that the integration of Kjanu is not well administered, it is necessary to bring the three-nation closer. If you look at the situation currently, we are only helplessly watching kjanu in chaos.”
Liberal Democratic Party’s Nagase Ryu added calmly, confident in her potential voters.
“Well, if they would allow the URF to head over there in the first place, there wouldn’t be such chaos. Additionally, have you all forgotten to demand reparation from those aliens? You actually expect us to sit here and do nothing while these war criminal Valassari or whatever they call themselves from other nations take our jobs? This is ridiculous, humans must always come first.”
Else Schnorr of the Neo-fascist party added.
“You know it would be nice if we just put the Imperatrix back in power-”
Morita Takejiro immediately got backslash from all parties.
“Ahem.
PRAISE BE OUR ETERNAL GODDESS IRENE.”
Stella Inder shouted through the microphone.

The stage was just a few steps away. Head of state Mashiro Fuyuki hesitated, still thinking about Tatiana’s memory loss and what Alfred Heller said to her back at the hospital. Yotsubishi 1st branch’s secret connection with the Army? Just what were they planning? The plane that crashed in Mendenwall back in december, was that Yotsubishi doing… or...
“What are you waiting for?”
Vice-GC Victoria Achenbach of the Constitutional Imperial Rule Party asked from behind. Kindly smiled at her.
“...”
“No one’s first job is the head of state. However, do not let those emotions get to you.”
Mashiro took a moment to organize her thoughts and nodded as her confidence returned.
However, Victoria did not come out with her.
Putting away her notes, she took a long look at the old bookmark. It was a good luck charm given by Laruna Kracht, a former classmate of hers. It was a memorial she received before her last performance as one of Celestial 5’s members, twelve years ago, on the exact same day as today.
Thought to be a change in the event script, Mashiro continues her way to the stage.
The crowd slowly returns to silence as the Imperatix turns her attention to the entrance of the stage,
The PHS in the back stage and at the windows of the parliament building are constantly searching for threats as tension grows in the square.

“Now it has truly saddened me that the invasion of Fronteran-Mendenwall was executed with a 88% vote within the parliament weeks ago.
Excuse me.

We’ve been through a lot for the past year, haven't we? Serpentuem declared war on us, some aliens, Valarssari declared war on us. Now? We’re allies, friends. We joined the World Union. Further uniting the world. We even sent a diplomat to Jezabelstien and he did come back. The Hinomoto desert…. Is no longer a desert. Look at that massive organic structure at the horizon. We did have teardrop plague, in the end, our cooperation with Serpentuem developed a cure from the particles of its pollen.
I’ve been elected because I was a meme. Yes. Laugh.
Throughout my past term, I have noticed even after we’ve moved to democracy, we’re still chained. Culturally chained, yes. Not by authoritarianism not by foreign powers, definitely not by money.
Our twin kingdoms are cursed and chained by hate since the dawn of time.
For 900 years we fought each other, chained to fight until the last standing, weren’t we pathetic? However, we did rise from those feelings of hate. We did break these chains.
And we can certainly do it again.
It’s all pain, sweat, tears, and blood. However, no revenge should govern our fate.
I’m talking to all of you, candidates.”
She paused to look at the other candidates.

“All within the state, nothing outside, nothing against the state?
We're a superpower at the world stage, think about the effects of our decision on the people of the world, damn it.
Focusing on rebuilding the United Kingdom and its relations to the FTF after the four major conflicts from 2018 to 2020 is the main goal of the Moeist Democratic Union of Cando-”

As the sun rises from the Eastern sea, casting the Miotian skies with a brilliant red glimmer, the subtle yet present sounds of slicing rotors can be vaguely heard from an unknown source. No shadows are present to expose its identity, however; a slight distortion in the morning sky can still be observed moving across the horizon towards the United Kingdom. It is as if light itself is being manipulated to slide off the sleek exterior of the unknown source by some sort of meta-material, creating a sort of optical camouflage as the foreign object continues its course.

"Thirty minutes till we arrive in the target city." announced the pilot of the Freysil.

Two unknown voices can then be heard from the back having a heated argument. One voice seemingly stemming from a young adolescence figure and the other from an older foreigner both wearing a sparrow insignia on their lapel.

"You sure we should be flying within the vicinities of the RIAS space elevator?"

"What? Would you rather fly over the chaotic zkylinez of Kjanu? Even with advance camouflage, luck will ztill be a large dependent factor if we chose that unztable path, I would rather not rizk our tezt flight to zome lucky zhrapnel or zhell. Pluz, I'm confident in this technology and thiz iz a good and zafe way to tezt it, we zhould pazz undetected."

"I do not understand why we must depart as well, the 12th and members of the 10th could've easily handled this themselves..."

"Fine, I'll bring the popcorn. Good lord fix up your accent, it's like talking to an alien with you."

A humanoid figure can be seen shimmering in and out of sight, his or her figure seemingly invisible as their body drifts in and out of view like a distortion created from heat. The figure moves quickly into position unnoticed via sight or sound, this thanks to Mashiro's loud speech being projected all throughout the square, even stress scanners from the ATHENA system have failed to determine the Health data of this unknown figure, making it no exaggeration to call him or her a living ghost. As the thunderous speech goes on, the figure can be seen crouching behind an empty row and... laughing? No, perhaps withering in pure utter rage... Or perhaps, maybe even been both, it is quite hard to tell with the figure seemingly transparent with light sliding off the cloak which fully covers the figure. Suddenly, deep breathes can be heard from the figure as he or she readies and assembles a weapon of unknown calibre hidden under the cloak, however; the sound of which is all still being masked by the raging speech. After attaching the scope, the tip of the barrel can be visibly observed as it leaves the protection of the cloak pointing steadily and directly at Mashiro's head before shouting his or her first words since entering the Citadel.

"1984 never forget!"

As the phrase rang out, echoing through the square, soundly revealing the general position of the unknown figure; another deep breath can be heard and then...

Two unknown figures can be seen sitting amongst the crowd in broad daylight, one offering popcorn to those sitting next to him and the other has their attention fully immersed on the speech, or more so, the podium housing a certain majesty which is behind the person making the speech. Both of these two figures seems to be wearing an odd sparrow insignia, this fashion choice was seemingly reflected in some of the audience within the crowd. As time ticks on a voice can be heard.

"Are the otherz ready for extraction? It iz almozt time... good lord, why the hell did they chooze to hozt thiz outdoorz during zummer?! The temperature iz terrible and itz like playing minezweeper when choozing a zeat with all theze zeagullz flying around." The focused individual asked.

"Yeah *munch munch* they should be ready *munch munch munch*. Just waiting for the signal *munch munch munch munch*." Replied the unknown figure finishing up his popcorn.

"Could you not talk with food in your mouth? Young people theze dayz have no mannerz." The first individual retorted as he places his feet on the row of chairs infront of him.

"I guezz it iz time, the zpeech is getting boring, let'z bring zome excitement to thiz boring atmozphere, let the symphony of change play to a new dawn! Nov Oridinis!" The first individual continued as he clicks a button hidden underneath his lapel.

'BOOM BOOM BWAM CLACK'

An explosion, born completely out of nowhere, engulfed the podium holding the Imperatrix and her group, killing them instantly as rubble tumbled throughout the stage like the drumming of a percussion instrument.

'BANG'

The sound of a non-silenced rifle can be heard bouncing throughout the sqaure, acting as the chorus to the unexpected tune of the explosion, harmonizing in an oddly horrifying and chaotic orchestration. However, a slight tune feels off and uncoordinated as the unexpected explosion and the scale of the blast ended up affecting the unknown figure's aim, causing him or her to miss Mashiro's head but instead, land a shot around the appendix area.

'THUMP'

The sound echoed as the chaotic orchestra draws its last chord. The sound, resulting from a body of a once prominent leader of an up and coming super power finally collapsing to the dark pressures that have haunted her for ages, spells the end of pacifist rule and bringing upon a new chapter for the United Kingdom and its subject. A new season, per se, of never ending hate.

As the conductor lays down his baton, cheers, caremes, and claps replaced by jeers, screams, and collapse. The unknown figure can be seen disassembling his gun before making his escape away from the panicked horde, hidden by his cloak marked with the word Cersarski, and vanished into the afternoon light.

Rather than an actual office, it’s just a cheap apartment rent by the company.
Journalist Kana Ichihara walks through the cramped hallway to get her way to the kitchen. The new office was still filled with boxes and unpacked equipment. Blaney Mikel, a Serpentuem immigrant who was hired by the company a month ago, was assigned here. There were only the two of them. Blaney does most of the unpacking and cleaning most of the time if not all of the time.
Blaney is usually seen at the lobby area where he sets up the equipment provided by the headquarters. However today was different.
Filling a few more named cups of coffee and placing them on the table with empty seats.
“Is there something wrong?”
Kana asked through the kitchen, where he saw Blaney poke his head out of the window.
“There’s something going on up there, Kana.”
“The debate?”
“Well, technically yes… but I don’t think it is simply just that.”
Black smoke could be seen rising at the top of the Edokyuuria arcology, the capitol building.

“I can’t believe you finished eating your 3rd big wac, Tatiana.”
“Is it wrong to do so, father?”
“It’s fine.”
Retired veteran Graf Hawk and his adoptive daughter Tatiana Hawk are currently having lunch unaware of the events that happened minutes ago. Tatiana was discharged from hospital a month ago. She suffered from the loss of memory after a certain event happened in Hong Kong. Although it is probably better this way, which allowed her to live a normal life.
She somehow developed an introverted personality. Which was quite troublesome when they were applying for schools.
At the corner of the restaurant, Graf has taken notice of a person dressed in a blacksuit looking at them the whole time. It was strange to see someone dressed so formal to be in a fast food restaurant in the first place, it just stands out.
Graf told Tatiana he was going to the washroom, and walked toward the man in the suit looking at them.
“Do I know you, sir?”
Graf asked with suspicion. Instead of replying, the man just handed him a note with the seal of the Hirosei clan, the Voluntas corporation, and lastly, a seal of an owl.
“Who-”
Before Graf could finish his sentence, the screen on the television switched to emergency broadcast.
“Take her with you, and go.”
The man in suit gave Graf a pistol only moments before a group of hooded individuals stormed the fast food restaurant.
A few of the customers who turned out to be undercover agents of the CIA started to exchange fire with the armed group as Graf ran to grab Tatiana’s hand. It was cold, unlike her previous self, she was in shock and scared.
They quickly retreated to the kitchen as the sound of ATHENA stress level contamination alarm rings in the area.
“You got a call, father.”
Tatiana who had his phone in her hand showed Graf the incoming call from officer Lionheart.
“Huh?”
Graf picked up the phone despite the gun fire outside.
“Where? Minervaindexca? Now?”

June 4th 4:20pm, Miotian Imperial Times
At approximately today at 12:40pm, a terrorist attack was carried out at the Citadel of the Edokyuuria Arcology.
The attack took place during the political debate, it has been reported more than 100 people injured and 40 dead. Including Chancellor candidates, parliament members and other government officials. It also has been reported her highness Yoshika Kurumi has passed away shortly after she was sent to the hospital.

Additionally,
After the careful consideration of such attacks occurring under the athena system, the Public health security has been deemed insufficient. As part of this decision, the following units has been mobilized: Northern United Royal Army, 1st division 1st infantry regiment, 5th infantry regiment, 6th infantry regiment, 2nd artillery regiment, 1st and 2nd armored battalion….

However since the revision of the Twin Kingdom Constitution by the Mashiro administration, all provision of martial law has been dropped by legal code...

Edokyuuria Arcology, Citadel, June 4th, 2020 11:45 AM
Marissa left the washroom after fixing her disguise. A shadow was caught in the edge of her sight the moment she stepped into the marble cathedral-like hallway.
The figure standing at the end of the empty neo-gothic hallway caught her attention. This section of the Citadel should’ve been off-limit to the public.
The sunlight shines through the arch windows, the marble interior reflects and delivers light to every end of the hallway. There was no one else, only her and the figure at the other end.
Checking on the time, Marissa decides to make her move and approach the figure standing in the shadow.
Passing columns and engraved glass, having her shadow appear and disappearing again and again between the streams of sunlight.
“You nya..the air force's-”
Marissa stopped halfway through the hallway when she recognized the figure.
“That will certainly make things easier.”
Hirosei replied as she walked out of the shadows, handing her a folded cloak in a plastic package.

Edokyuuria Arcology Citadel Square, Secluded section of the crowded viewing area June 4th, 2020 12:54 AM
Minutes after the explosion on stage, the citadel square is now engulfed in flames. Both civilians and officials alike are rushing toward the emergency exit. The security reinforcement was yet to be seen.
Taking off her quantum stealth cloak in the dense smoke, Marissa quickly ran toward the center of the half collapsed stage.
Leaping over the wide gap swiftly, she broke through the dense smoke and arrived at the smoke concealed center of the stage.
Horrified by the initial sight, however, a sense of relief returned when she noticed Mashiro was still breathing.
“You...are?”
Mashiro slowly opened her teary eyes and asked. Marissa quickly takes an oxygen mask and puts it on Mashiro before she responds.
In the jungle of ashes and sparks, only a shadow of a feline eared humanoid could be seen through her mask. She did try to say something, however, she fell unconscious before she could make out any sort of sound.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure we can fix those broken bones.”
Marissa said as she lifts Mashiro off the ground and carries her. Putting on the cloak, she jumped off the remains of the stage.

Kanatoro, Imperial Palace Complex, June 4th, 2020 1:00 PM
“The fire isn’t slowing down at all.”
A firefighter shouted through the radio. The wooden keep at the outer walls of the imperial palace collapsed into the river as the fire continued to spread throughout the pentagon-shaped. complex.
“Have we confirmed the safety of the royal family yet!?”

Miotian Imperial Times, June 4th, 2020 3:45 PM
Today at 1:30PM the Imperial Palace was destroyed by the fire burning from the outside in. The PHS is still investigating the source, however, it is highly suspected to be tied with the Citadel square attack earlier.
Unfortunately, the exits were blocked when the keeps collapsed, it is unknown whether anyone within survived the fire.

Neo-Tokyo Airport, June 5th, 2020, 3:04am
Shinozaki casually stops the bullet hole covered vehicle outside of the airport. The airport staff and travelers took a few steps backward when the door opened.
“Hirosei told me to give these to you.”
Shinozaki handed Graf three white passports.
“These are… fakes?”
“Oh come on, Graf. These are Academic passports.”
Shinozaki explained, flipped the pages of the one at the top.
“Unlike those two girls back there, you’ve got a Voluntas work permit, old man.”
She pointed at the stamp on Graf’s new passport.
“Voluntas? Shinozaki, what?”
“I’m not entirely sure either, but all three of these are issued by Voluntas Inc, the stamps here proves it. Well, that also proves that witch is not only the boss of a few yakuza groups, a noble clan, but also some high-level staff of the Voluntas company.”
Shinozaki explained carefreely, looking at Tatiana and the mysterious girl next to Graf.
“For what reason did she go so far for us?”
Graf asked.
“No, not for you, but for her….. That nameless girl over there, she must have something to do with it.”
The group turns to the girl next to Tatiana who won’t say her name.

Miotian Imperial Times, June 5th, 2020, 8:00 AM
...Unfortunately, none of the members of the royal family has survived the fire and the attack from yesterday. It is unknown what will become of the United Kingdom from this day onward. The temporary military government has not made any announcement referring to the royal family. According to royal code, the Grand Duchess of Rikura is a potential candidate monarch for the United Kingdom and her empire. While the hypothetical Unified States of Pupatory has been shown to be supported by a group. Some also suggest that Candor and Miotia should be separated as two Republics.

Hong Kong Pineapple Daily, June 5th, 2020, 9:00 AM
The whereabouts of the first and second princesses are currently unknown. Rumour has it the two were not present at the palace during the fire.
The remilitarization of Frontera and Mendenwall is still in effect by the Western government despite the events yesterday. Most of the URN was stationed within the Northern Wasaruan bay around the Rias Space elevator and at the coasts of Frontera.
Without the Imperatrix, the current empire is split into 4 self-governing bodies.
-Eastern states(Miotia-Candor-Kjanu)
-Western states(Aretnorf)
-Hong Kong
-Tiamat

Western Miotia-Candorian Empire capital/Republic of Frontera capital, Trinada, A certain abandoned museum
This place used to be an abandoned museum, the URN bought the building and it is currently being used as the Western States capitol building. The sunlight shines through the dirty massive windows of the rectangular meeting hall. As workers continue their restoration of the building, the Colonial government and the Republcian government is gathered here for the meeting. For the final stage of the establishment of the Western Imperial constitution. Despite the United Kingdom’s throne is currently empty. The deputy governor general of the western states, and the chief of staff of the URN, Inaban Fuyu insisted on following the old plans established by the Mashiro administration of Edokyuuria, before the transfer of power to the Army after the June 4th attack in the Eastern States.
With most of the royal family, the whereabouts of the 2 princesses and Chancellor Mashiro is unknown. Making the United Kingdom leaderless. The many states within the United Kingdom’s empire and unions have switched to self-governing for the time being. However they all know this won’t last.
“With this, the Independent Investigation Committee will be established. With the purpose of investigating future Fronteran corruption.
The committee director will be elected within the committee, however the vice director will be installed by us to oversee corruption within. In other words the Fronteran government, or the Imperial government? is back on track with one or two occupied Western Mendenwall territory to manage. Except for the fact, you’ll need the governor general’s seal of approval at the last stage on making a bill into law. In which case it’s me. Until the next monarch appoints another, you all will be stuck with me, so get used to it.
Next, consumption tax will be set to 9%.
The URN will remain in New Republic of Frontera as a defence force for both the state of Frontera and Western Mendenwall. The defence sector must receive at least 16% of the total tax money at all times.
Fronteran citizens are allowed to apply for Miotia-Candorian passports if they pass either the Miotian or Candorian language level of M1 or K1.
Furthermore we will nationalize the following bank in the list. Which will be used for standard government related transactions.
Next, regarding convenience stores. Here’s a system that will allow citizens to pay bills, taxes in these stores. Application extension of visa by foreigners, application for pension exemption, etc can be done in these machines, they’ll be provided by the nationalized bank listed above.
This will reduce the need for ward offices, which will also cut unnecessary government spending in the long run.
Due to the fact we’re lacking the ATHENA system, we’ll leave the Fronteran judicial system untouched.
That’s it.”
Inaban sighed as she leaned back on the chair at one end of the long table. Akima facepalmed at the corner of the room not entirely sure what they’ve done. Looking out at the balcony, a new flag is flying next to both the Frontera and Mendenwall’s.
“Any questions?”
Inaban asked the officials at the dead silent meeting.

Western Miotia-Candorian Empire capital/Republic of Frontera capital, Trinada, deck of URN [DDV] Hakuhou(Repairing)
Inaban was sitting on the edge of the deck, looking at the cityscape of Trinada.
“Just what were you thinking.”
Akima asked as he approached from behind, lighting his cigarette.
“We don’t have much of a choice don’t we, Akima?”
“Well yeah, Inaban, what you just did could’ve been considered treason by the current military Edokyuuria government.”
Both paused for a moment, listening to the sound of seagulls, ocean waves, cars, people chattering under the windy sunny weather.
“This place certainly reminds me of how Sieg used to be before the Valarssari War.”
Inaban said, laying her back on the deck.
“The Eastern Imperium is remilitarizing and we’re also remilitarizing Aretnorf. Don’t you think this is getting a little chilly?”
Akima asked as he sat next to her.
“The current military Edokyuuria will collapse. We just need to drag this rivalry as long as possible. That air force witch Hirosei is still there somewhere. Heller may be in power now, but I’m sure that witch has an ambition bigger than anyone else, this may even be part of her plan.
Anyhow, I’ve made a promise to the late Imperatrix to protect the constitutional monarchy for her daughter long ago. We’ll head back when the timing is right.”
Inaban theorized as she closed her eyes.
“How did you know the air force chief so well anyway?”
“We’ll…”
The two continue to talk on the broken deck of the URN Hakuhou, Heavy aviation destroyer as a Voluntas Airline passenger plane passes by.

“This was not part of our plan.”
Nick Heller said in frustration that the empire is divided after the death of the imperatrix, then he put away his phone as he continued to walk down the cathedral hallway. He is the current deputy head of state and the chief of staff of the army.
He opens the door to his Grand Chancellor’s office, his brother Alfred was sitting on the sofa waiting for his arrival.
“Alfred, What do you want.”
“I’ve got some interesting intel on the attack. I also found us a scapegoat.”
“Intel?”
Nick walked over as Alfred took out an old classified Candorian Intelligence Agency (CIA) folder from his bag.
The documents show a small amount of personal information about the long-gone Omikane Clan population. Many of them have already been crossed out and labeled as executed.
“This is one part of the final report of 1997, the last remaining surviving few of the clan after Operation Judgement in 1984. And This folder contains all of the most wanted individuals of the clan. Including those who were responsible for the 2008 attack.”
“The 2008 attack in Amatsumikaboshi?”
“Yes.”
Alfred continues to explain as he flips through the records one by one.
“There was one individual who was seen on camera that was never caught by the old regime during the 2008 attack….ah, here he is.”
Alfred turns the folder over for Nick to see.
“His name is Itashikir. This picture was from the 80s.”
The black and white picture shows a teenager.
“How can you be sure it’s this person? It’s been a decade.”
Nick leaned on the sofa and asked Alfred, refusing to believe his theory. Then he noticed something strange about this person’s record, unlike others, ‘A-000’ was written next to his profile. The strange 3 digit record number on Itashikir’s profile resembles modern-day ATHENA stress data.
“Is this-”
“I believe you have heard stories of selected Omikane individuals who were sent to become Director Simon Mendelson’s test subjects in the PGRI back in the old days?”
Alfred hinted.
If Itashikir was in Pure Gene Research Institution’s record, that meant he must’ve escaped the facility at some point between his capture in the 90s and his involvement in the 2008 June 4th attack.
“Unlike us and our friends overseas trying to get rid of Mashiro, Itashikir’s goal is probably the destruction of the United Kingdom government, Nick.”
“What evidence do you have to prove that Itashikir is involved in this attack, Alfred?”
Alfred paused for a moment, then he took out his laptop with a smile on his face.
“This.”
Alfred showed Nick data of the Citadel area stress scan of June 4th, 2020.
“Itashikir is the only person on record that is stressed(criminally) asymptomatic. Since the system’s activation, ATHENA has reported its first bug on that very same day, an unreadable individual has shown up at the rally. If we capture him, we can shift the blame and suspicion to him. Which will likely regain the colonial government’s trust after this has been seen as ‘cleaned up’”

Eastern Imperium, State of Miotia-Candor, Edokyuuria Arcology, PHS Headquarters, June 6th, 2020
Operator Shinozaki locked the door of the dark briefing room filled with holograms. The personnel of the Public Health Security’s Section 13 were all there, either standing or sitting around the room facing the main display. Chatter slowly quieted down as the director walked up to the front.
“From the investigation, we did within higher floors of the Citadel, we can safely say that the attack was planned by insiders of the government.”
That was one hell of a line to start meeting, Shinozaki said in her mind.
“The lid of the stress scanners at the hallways of the 30th floor of the north wing was opened.”
The director claimed, then he switched the slides to multiple images of damaged screws.
“These screws were forcefully opened. Traces of surface damage could also be seen on the cover. In conclusion, the eyes of the system were blinded during the time of the event with the scanners modified.”
Just as the director finishes, officer Albert Lionheart raises his hand.
“The unique programming language of the ATHENA system is only known by Yotsubishi Corporation. I suggest we should immediately detain Osamu Shinji, CEO of Yotsubishi Corporation for questioning and launch a full-scale investigation within the corporation.”
“Wait, wait. I’m not done yet.”
The director cuts Lionheart off.
“On the other hand, an error has been detected in the ATHENA system in the crowd. An individual with a stress level of 0. The system is impossible to be accessed from the outside alone. Keys of a few government officials, the imperial family, Yotsubishi, are required to access the system. It is unlikely the system was hacked, this might be the stress input the system is getting directly through the stadium scanner…”
The director explained as he zoomed in onto the imagery from the ATHENA bug report. Despite the fact the face is blurry, he was holding a gun.
“Wait a minute, didn’t the stage explode?”
An officer standing at the corner asked with a confused expression. Chatter and whispers between officers start to fill the room.
“So you’re saying, this man belongs to a different group from the ones who planted the bomb?”
Shinozaki asked calmly as she leaned on the door.
“That seems to be the case. Operator Shinozaki”
“Ugh. That’s annoying.”

About an hour later, dozens of police vehicles departed from the PHS headquarter, all heading toward different locations.
Officer Sutsushi watches the police transports below depart behind the window of her office as Shinozaki stares at the vending machine having a hard time deciding her drink in the hallway. Albert was taking a nap sofa.
The Public Health Security has just launched an investigation on the Yotsubishi Corporation nation. Drones were deployed to ruined and abandoned areas to find the lone assassin. Due to the Citadel being guarded by the Army, entry permission is unlikely.
“Come to think of it, we couldn't reach Hirosei after we got Graf, Tatiana, and that girl to the airport.”
Shinozaki said as she walked back into the office room with a cucumber soda.
“Right- right! Who was that girl anyway?”
Lionheart asked, waking up after hearing what Shinozaki said.
Sutsushi waited till the automatic door in the office shut. She took out her phone and showed the two of a satellite image of the air force headquarters in Flugel under lockdown by the army.
“Hirosei herself is probably hiding from the army. She is the air force's chief of staff after all.”
Sutsushi explained as she switched the pictures to the Hirosei mansion with the army’s personnel transports outside.”
“This is a total coup.”
Shinozaki commented and sighed. She walked over to the window to look at the upper floors of the Arcology.
“Well, about that girl that went with Tatiana and Graf..”
“That was the 3rd princess.”

Minervaindexca, Student Council Sanctum, June 6th 2020
In the interior of a neo-gothic 3D dimensional maze of glass and stainless steel with reflecting sunlight into every corridor of the building, an important meeting was taking place at the center of the complex, where the ceiling is open to the sky. Like a glorified panopticon, the triquetra table of the central hanging transparent aluminum platform is able to see to every corner of the Sanctum hall. From the library of the lowest level to the hanging gardens high above.
“The Imperatrix and the rest of the royal family seems to have passed away in the recent palace fire.”
Logistic Official Afer Artotrogus reports as he switches everyone’s screen to the latest Edokyruuia Daily Newspaper. The collapsed palace in ashes could be seen. A picture of royal coffins could also be seen below. It seems there were no survivors.
“So the United Kingdom will no longer have an heir to succeed the throne, huh.”
Secretary Misty Cloudius said carefreely as she leaned back on her chair.
“We weren’t expecting that, this was clearly beyond our calculated possibilities.”
Treasurer Marius Auxilium commented as he turned his focus back to his laptop.
“Well this accelerated our plans to conquer the United Kingdom, isn’t that right? Eudokia?”
Misty asked the President in silence.
“Have she arrived yet?”
Without replying to Misty, Eudokia changed the topic.
“With the intel provided by the United Royal Airforce, or specifically Miss Hirosei Hana. Hawk Graf, Tatiana (Cloudius) Graf, and… your sister, Himiko II will arrive by noon, which is in about an hour.”
Afer reported, showing the planes' arrival time.
“Very well….”
Eudokia muttered. She then opened a file of the transfer students' profile. “Tatiana, Himiko… in Fenrir campus huh? Interesting choice.”
“As long as SSS-053-1, Tatiana the catalyze is outside of the United Kingdom, the Nick Heller nor the ATHENA system could trigger a Miraculum Resonance on a continental scale.”
Marius reminded the council.
“The threat still exists. SSS-044 Marissa and SSS0-53 Shinozaki are still within the Resonance range. They are still within the United Kingdom.”
Eudokia commented coldly on Marius’s report.
Afer then shows a map of the Wasaru continent as the council returns to silence.
“The incident that brought peace to Northern Wasaru is yet another threat to humanity. While it is true that the Tree Speranta cured the Teardrop plague, and brought plantation to the desert.
Just a reminder that this is the power of a single individual’s will to do so. If another Resonance event were to be triggered, all living life above the mountain range of Jezabelstein will likely be altered or cease to exist. Even landscapes will be altered. There’s also a possibility that the terrain will no longer be habitable, it depends on the trigger or the Miraculum composition within the host in this case.”
Afer finishes his explanation with a sigh as he looks at the predicted contamination of Northern Wasaru. “We still don’t understand how Miraculum cells can spread so fast.”
Afer returning to his seat without switching off the monitor.
“I’m heading to the airport to give our guest a ‘warm’ welcome. While I’m gone I would like you all to have a read on this…”
Eudokia takes out a classified folder from her bag. Walking away from the crystal-like platform, heading into the reflection maze of the lower fortress.
The folder had a smudged label.
“SSS-001”

Minervaindexca, International Airport, June 6th 2020
Himiko quietly follows Tatiana and old man Graf passes the customs. Staring into the distance while she waits for her luggage to come.
“She never told us her name did she?”
Tatiana asked Graf curiously.
“No, she did not. I wonder why Shinozaki and Hirosei want her to come here with us?”
Graf muttered.

The three walked out to the arrival area with their massive luggage. The ceiling of the hallway was made of glass, allowing the bright sunlight to shine on them.
“Isn’t that a bit too bright…”
Graf complained.
“Hey, father. Are those people waiting for us?”
Confused by what Tatiana means, Graf returned his focus to the arrival hall. A girl in a plain white dress with sunglasses could be seen guarded by suited students, they were looking at them.
“It seems… so. But I don’t know them.”
Graf and Tatiana started to walk toward the group, however, they soon noticed that the girl with them was standing still held onto her luggage in fear.
This was the moment Graf realizes that the group’s target was not him nor Tatiana, but the mysterious girl that came here along with them.
The girl in the white dress takes off her sunglasses and hands them over to her guards.
“It’s been a while, Himiko.”
She said with a smirk. As if she gained an important piece to her ambitious goals...
“Eudokia….big sis…”
Himiko panicked and collapsed on her knees. The reality she tried so hard to escape, the reality she thought she has left behind in the United Kingdom has caught up to her.
“Why are you here!?”

Candor, Old Kandory, Omikane, Aug 15, 1984
“Why are you hesitating?”
The young recruit asked the boy whose rifle was seen shaking.

It was raining that day.
A group of young recruits from the human resources re-education institution were seen to have arrived at a ruined school building by military transports. Each of them carried a rifle, and they were heading toward a trench in the middle of the schoolyard. They lined up behind the prisoners. The prisoners had their face covered, so were the child soldiers. Under the order of their instructor, the children raised their rifles and aimed at the prisoner in uniform.
This was their final exam to become proper soldiers of the Candorian military, a life where they serve the descendants of gods, as a part of the ‘chosen people’ not as the heretics. These children were not Candorians by blood, they were defectors of the Omikane clan, a remnant of a kingdom of what was considered as heretics in the north most of the Candorian Kingdom.
Due to their different religion, culture, and ethics, they were seen as a threat to the cult of personality of the royal family. As a result, the eradication operation was carried out by the military with the use of re-educated recruits, this tests their loyalty and saves human resources for the military.
Itashikir and his older brother were taken away and were sent to the institution when they were kids. The brothers were taken away from their parents. The poverty and the large debt the family had slowly eaten away the family’s sanity, resulting in domestic violence. The two hated their family. Itashikir’s brother took a knife and stabbed his father’s left arm before the two ran off to the police station.
Naturally, Itashikir and his brother were thankful to have a chance to serve under the Candorian order. They were provided food and clothing, air conditioning during the burning summer, and a heater during the freezing winter. Not even once did they doubt the authorities.
The faint weeping of the prisoners could be heard despite the sound of the heavy rain as the recruits executed the prisoners one by one.

“Why are you hesitating?”
The elder brother asked Itashikir whose rifle was seen shaking. Itashikir did not dare to speak, he only held on his rifle tighter as he reloaded. The prisoner they were about to shoot had a familiar scar on his left arm, it was their father. It seems only Itashikir realized the woman they executed just now was their mother. It might have been hard to tell from the elder brother’s perspective, but Itashikir could see it clearly from his angle. They made eye contact. For the first time in forever, the prisoner, his father, was smiling.
The instructor ordered to aim again as the brothers followed.
“L-I-V-E”
Was the message the prisoner was trying to tell Itashikir.
“Fire”
The recruits fired undoubtedly.
It was all an act, from the beginning to the end.
Itashikir realizes his parents have always been protecting them. Hiding his emotions under the mask, Itashikir looked over to his brother, who already finished reloading ready to follow the next order anytime.

United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Hinomoto Prefecture, Nio, Dec 3rd, 1997
“So, what did the Inaban household name her?”
PGRI head scientist Simon Mendelson asked Dr. Reinhold, who just returned to the laboratory.
“They want to name the design child Haru, meaning spring. In contrast to their natural child Fuyu.”
Reinhold then walks over to the windows of the observatory deck, where Mendelson was standing. A nursery room with seven children and a nurse inside could be seen. The age of these children was different, some were older some were younger. However, they all looked alike.
“Aren’t they growing up too fast, Simon?”
“It’s a possible side effect from synthetic Miraculum’s rapid regenerative ability we implanted into them. Some will die before they become of use for the Shinozaki project.”
Reinhold remained silent. Mendelson quickly switched the grim topic to another project as he led Reinhold out of the observation room.
The moment Mendelson exited the room, he was startled by two young soldiers.
“Oh, the military assigned them to me. They were from the re-education institution. This is Itashikir and...”
Reinhold explained as he followed Mendelson.

“How’re things with Mashiro (Sayaka) and your daughter?”
Reinhold asked Mendelson’s divorce as the two walked down the bright white hallway. Mendelson paused for a moment.
“Things weren’t working out between me and Sayaka. Sayaka is preventing me from seeing Fuyuki.”
Mendelson answered without looking at Reinhold.
The brothers followed them quietly as they walked through the underground facility.
“Come to think of it, the Omikane blood seems to be able to resist and adapt to the transplant better than others. Satoshi, Akko were showing promising results, Marissa, Opere, and the others are beginning to show the side effects of the Miraculum experiment.”
Mendelson changed the topic again.
“Is it life-threatening?”
“No, their stress levels are stable, however, strange mutations are starting to show on their hands…”
As the head scientist continued his explanation, the four entered what looked like a hospital room.
Kids in blood-stained hospital beds attached to a series of medical instruments could be seen from the entrance to the far end of the room. They all had wounds of all kinds of shape.
Itashikir held his shock, anger, and fear back by biting his lips. He turned over to look at his brother, there was no sign of regret nor doubt serving the military seen within his cold-blooded emotionless eyes.
That was when he knew his brother was not coming back. He had lost him.

Itashikir quietly packed his belongings in the dormitory while his brother was sleeping. He had made up his mind to leave. He had no idea where he should go, but he must leave. Walking over to his brother’s military supply, he took the rest of the ammunition with him. Just when he closed the zipper of his bag, his rifle fell down onto the floor. Now his brother is awake.
“You’re leaving? Why?”
He asked Itashikir, very surprised.
Itashikir did not answer, he walked over to pick up his rifle and put it onto the table as he continued to pack the rest.
“Where are you going? I don’t remember them giving us orders to separate.”
His brother asked.
“I’m going to defect.”
Itashikir answered coldly.
“Defect? Why?”
His brother asked.
“Don’t you think there's something wrong with what we’ve been doing all this time!?”
Itashikir yelled at his brother as he reached for a knife inside his bag.
“I have no idea what you are talking about. They provided shelter, food, education to unlock those rotten parents of ours. The most important thing is... We’re alive. Thanks to re-education institution we’re alive, thanks to the military we have a place in society, thanks to-”
Before his brother could finish Itashikir already took out the knife and sliced his brother’s throat ending the conversation. He stood there quietly as he watched the pile of meat on the ground as his brother talked to him just a moment ago. Tears started to flow down from his eyes. These were not tears of regret, but fear. Fear of him had become. How decisive he was when he came to the decision of killing his only relative. Fear of how easy it had become for him to take another human life away.
Now he has done it, he is truly alone.

Sneaking past the corridors of the underground facility at midnight. He came across a child who was in the middle of the hallway alone.
“I’m scared, I want to see mom… Hey, Mr. Have you seen my mother?”
The child asked.
Itashikir paused for a moment, hating the fact his instinct was telling to leave no witnesses. He soon realizes that the child is blind.
“No, I have not, we could find her together, will you come with me?”

The two escaped the facility a few hours later heading toward the southern wheatfield.
“Hey, Mr. What’s your name?”
“Itashikir, yours?”
“Opere.”

Eastern Imperium, State of Miotia-Candor, Edokyuuria Arcology, Harurare district, June 5th, 2020

Dear Itashikir,

How are you doing? Despite the unfortunate warfares that had taken place over there, I’m doing very well over here in the Republic.
Do you still remember that fateful day we met? Wheatfield that goes as far as to the horizon. Visible waves of wind passed through the field as we sat, and enjoyed the view of that summer starry night.
My memory of that day was as fresh as if it was yesterday.
Today marks the 23rd anniversary since we left.
I know it is still difficult for you to accept.
Please.
Return to us. In our new home.

Love, Opere

Itashikir put away the letter into his jacket then put on his hood. After extinguishing his cigarette he headed for the exit of the bright red hotel room. Returning the key to the self-serving front desk he opened the glass door and headed out to the streets of the nation’s largest red-light district, Edokyuuria’s Harurarecho. Which is also the hideout of many major organized crime factions. Due to the implementation of the stress regulating system, the yakuza’s activities have quieted down within the country. The unregulated holographic displays that filled the streets delayed the face recognition of the few stress scanners installed in the area. This was one of the few blind spots of the ATHENA system within the United Kingdom.
Due to the location of the area being under the Arcology, Harurarecho has also been under the dark. Ignoring the immoral distractions from left and right, he entered a hostess club owned by the Utsumi group, one of the major yakuza that rules that area.
The interior was gold bright, with decorations comparable to a palace.
Walking pass and ignoring the receptionist, he headed straight to the far end of the room.
Men who were flirting with hostesses a moment ago were now focusing on the mysterious hooded men who just walked in.
Itashikir stopped and stood right in front of Asakawa Taro, the sixth chairman of the Utsumi group.
“What do you want?”
Taro asked Itashikir just before a hostess lit his cigarette.
“The way to get to the underground surface of Miostation.”
Itashikir replied as he pointed his finger to the floor.
“Why? Did you drop your phone into the sewers?”
Taro asked sarcastically and laughed. The hostesses and other men followed.
“The secret route is something we use ourselves, sorry kiddo, we’re not selling this piece of intel to you. Now get lost.”
Taro said carefreely as he continued to joke with the hostesses.
“I have the money.”
Itashikir insisted.
“I said get lost. Don’t make me say that again.”
Taro denied Itashikir’s request again. Itashikir signed and pulled out his pistol. Causing the Taro’s subordinates to quickly stand up with their weapons.
“Hold on there, kid. I know you must be new here. But you don’t come into my place, ‘my place’, and start threatening me with that water gun of yours.”
Taro said, then he and his subordinates quickly broke out in laughter. They all laughed until Itashikir started to laugh too.
“What’s so funny, kid? Did you hit your head or something? Do we need to call an ambula-”
Before Taro could finish, Itashikir fired and killed one of Taro’s subordinates.
“It’s really funny how the system had already tamed the so-called ‘yakuza’. Look at you all bringing a stick to a gunfight. Are you all that scared of the stress scanners?”
Itashikir insulted them while laughing.
Taro looked over at his laptop on the table, which had linked to the club’s modified stress scanners sold in the black market. The scan result on Itashikir was 0. His stress level cannot be read. The system will not be able to sound the alarm of stress contamination.
“How pathetic. Look at you, begging for the system’s help as a last result.”
Itashikir said coldly, looking at Taro with disgust as if he was looking at an insect.
“Come on. Handover the map. Your stress level is rising rapidly, do you want to alert the PHS of widespread mental health contamination?”
Itashikir pushed his gun onto Taro’s forehead, everyone else stood still, speechless.
Realizing the extent of Itashikir’s determination, Taro ordered one of his men to show him the way.
“Thank you.”
Itashikir said coldly as he dropped a pile of cash onto the desk before he followed the guide.

Journalist Ichihara Kana and her assistant Blaney Mikel walked out of the fast-food restaurant in a nearby district.
This was Blaney’s first time walking along with the sunless districts of the arcology since he moved here from Serpenteum. To him, it looked like something was coming straight out of a science fiction novel. Sakamoto, his frenemy who he met in their exploration in the abandoned underground orphanage facility during the war introduced him to this newspaper job. Since the end of the war, he has not met Marissa, not even once. The victim and the last surviving member of the abandoned facility. The SSS must’ve put her in some shady position, that’s what he thought. The fact a kilometer tall plantation pops out of nowhere during the tear plague still seems unreal, but life is surely strange.
“Hey, Blaney.”
Kana suddenly called, which startled him a little.
“Yes?”
Blaney replied as his sight followed where Kana was pointing at. A group of PHS vehicles was parked outside of Harurarecho.
“Give me a break…”
Blaney muttered as he quickly followed Kana who was already running toward the scene with excitement.
Soon an ambulance arrived at the scene too.
“Mafia fight?”
Blaney asked Kana’s opinion as they continued to run toward Harurarecho which is on the other end of the main street.
However the entrance to the district has already been blocked by the PHS, there was no way in or out.
“That must be major stress contamination.”
Blaney said, trying to convince Kana there is no way in.
Kana suddenly stopped and ended into a small alley.
“Ms. Ichihara?”
“We can get there using the old subway system, Blaney.”
Carefully walking through the cramped alley with their equipment. Kana suddenly told Blaney to be quiet and stay still.
There was one hooded person and a suited person up ahead, they were standing in front of the subway entrance.
The suited man seemed to be showing the hooded person a map, however, Kana and Blaney were too far away to hear their conversation.

“Be careful down there at the ‘heart’, that’s the most guarded area in the nation, not even us can map out the ruins in that area.”
Taro’s suited subordinate explained to Itashikir. The two did not notice that they were being watched.
After the suited man finished explaining the map to Itashikir, he left immediately.
Itashikir stared at the direction the suited man left for a while. He then turns around to ensure no one else was in the alley with him. The lack of stars and moonlight made it extremely difficult to see for him. On the other hand, however, Kana managed to recognize him. She has met him before. The unexpected shock she had kept her quiet. Itashikir then entered the abandoned subway with his lantern, he did not notice that he was being followed.
“Let’s get out of here, Ms. Ichihara.”
Blaney suggested worriedly, but Kana wasn’t responding at all, she was just staring at the entrance of the abandoned subway.
“Ms. Ichihara?”
No response.
Kana was just staring at the subway entrance.
“That man… I’ve met him before.”
Kana muttered as she walked over to the entrance. Blaney has never seen the energetic Kana act like this which frightened him a little.
“Are you ok?”
Kana ignored Blaney and walked into the abandoned subway as if she had been possessed.
Something she shouldn’t have forgotten, something that was locked away from her memories.
Something related to the incident 12 years ago.

United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Pupatory Prefecture, Amatsumikaboshi, June 3th, 2008
It was late evening, the color of the sky was pink and yellow.
The sound of the ocean and the calming wind could be felt in the clubroom of the Amatsumikaboshi University’s campus.
“Hey Mashiro~, Chifuya wants us to head over to the stage once we’re done moving the stuff to the truck.”
Ichihara Kana informed Mashiro (Fuyuki) through shouting from at the end of the hallway.
“Alright. Can you come over once you’ve finished putting up that banner? I can’t move this stove by myself.”
“Got it.”
Kana replied carefreely.
Leaving the stove to where it is while waiting for Kana, Mashiro walked over to the window.
The stage built on the beach in front of the setting sun on the horizon could be seen clearly from the clubroom. On the campus ground students of other clubs could also be seen preparing for tomorrow’s cultural festival. Some were in uniform, some were in costumes.
“Waddup?”
Kana said as she entered their clubroom.

“Careful now.”
Mashiro warned Kana as they both walked up the ramp up the truck slowly while carrying the stove.
“Gotcha~”
Kana replied.

“So that’s done.”
Mashiro sighed from looking at the club equipment that needs to be moved to the stage on the other side of the beach for the festival tomorrow.
“Is that all?”
The security guard of the campus asked from the driver seat.
“Yep.”
Mashiro replied as she entered the truck, making space for Kana.
Just when Kana was about to get on she suddenly remembered she had forgotten something important.
“Kana?”
“I’ll meet you at the stage later, I’ve forgotten something in the morning class.”
Kana said, and she quickly left for the western lecture hall.

Running through the hallways of the 3rd floor, passing through various clubrooms, she arrived at her morning classroom.
She quickly walked up the stairs and arrived at the seat.
“There it is.”
She said in relief as she took out a box of 5 handcrafted keyholders.
Running the way back to the exit of the building, she realized the usually locked storage room door was opened with a small gap at the opposite end of the hallway by looking at the uneven shadows of the wall.
Following her curiosity, she walked toward the room and opened the metal door quietly.

The sudden creaking sound of the metal door behind Itashikir allowed him to notice another’s presence in the room.
Itashikir held a screwdriver tightly behind his back as he turned toward the door. A female university student was standing there looking at him.
“What are you doing?”
The girl asked curiously, there weren't any suspensions of him in her eyes.
‘Candorians’ Itashikir cursed within his head before putting up his act.
“Installing a router, there have been complaints that the 3rd floor’s router range cannot reach the stairs. Might as well improve that before we can any visitors tomorrow, right?”
Itashikir lied. The box behind him was a remote-controlled explosive-packed within a shell of a router.
“Oh, that’s great. I hate our phones switching to using data every time we use the stairs.”
The girl agreed as she walked closer in excitement. Itashikir carefully kept his distance from the girl.
The girl then noticed a picture of Mashiro in his notebook laying on the ground. Luckily the notes were written in Omikane script.
“Heh, you’re Mashiro’s fan? Now I’m jealous of Mashiro, having such a dedicated fan like you.”
The girl said as she picked up the notebook.
Itashikir was ready to kill the student if she figured out what was written in there.
“Say… would you ask Mashiro out?”
The sudden change of topics made Itashikir’s mind go completely blank, and he was unable to react, he stood there dumbfounded.
“What?”
“Hahaha, look at you lol. It was a joke. Anyway, please come to our Celestial V summer performance tomorrow… by the way what’s your name?”
“Itashi”
Itashikir quickly came up with a Candorian sounding name by removing the last 3 letters of his name.
“Well see ya, Itashi. Good luck on the routers.”
Kana said carefreely before she left.
Itashikir sighed. He was glad that he wasn’t exposed. He picked up his notebook, flipped through pages with X marks before putting it back in his bag. The notebook was a kill list.

It was sometime near midnight when the campus was empty. Itashikir quietly walked toward the stage on the beach to meet the rest of the Omikane resistance, the surviving Omikane avenger's group.
“How are the installations in the lecture halls?”
The leader of the resistance asked Itashikir. The other members were finishing the bomb installations under the stage and the seats.
“It’s all done, sir.”
Itashikir replied.
“Good. With this, the last remnants of the PGRI will perish-”
The leader said quietly but he was cut off by another member.
“Along with the parasitic offsprings of the devils!”
Implying Candorians.
“Those flat-face pests.”
“It’s about time for them to experience what we experienced.”
A member with a burnt mark on his face said.
Itashikir stared at the horizon under the moonlight as his comrades cheered on.
Tomorrow will be the day that the Omikane clan will have its revenge on both the Candorians and the PGRI. Tomorrow, director Simon Mendelson's family will be eliminated along with the children of the higher classes and nobles whose families supported the genocide.

United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Pupatory Prefecture, Amatsumikaboshi, June 4th, 2008
“Where is Charlotte?”
Chifuya asked Kana in the dressing room as she fixed her hair.
“She’s standing at the entrance of the campus to greet fans.”
Kana explained as she locked her casual clothes in her locker.
“What’s wrong, Fuyuki?”
Laruna asked Mashiro who was staring at her phone for quite a while.
“There’s no response from home nor my mother’s phone.”
Mashiro explained sadly.
“...Well that’s-”
“She must be driving her way here. She can’t possibly answer your call if she’s driving right?”
Before Laruna could even respond Kana already rushed in.
“...yeah, that must be it.”
Mashiro replied. She then quickly stood up with a smile and pretended her worries were gone. She can’t afford to ruin the team’s mood.
“Anyway, are we walking out there like this?”
The stage and the dressing room had some distance, they’ll have to go through the front schoolyard to get there.
“Duh.”

The crowd of the frontal schoolyard quickly formed space for the campus idols to get to the entrance.
The four walk past visitors and students alike as they greet them with a bright smile.
“There are more visitors than we initially expected.”
Chifuya whispered.
The group proceeded to head over to the backstage area, however, something was bothering Kana who was looking for someone in the crowd.
“Huh, that’s strange. I wonder if Itashi is here.”

Itashikir and the resistance watched the stage area from a safe distance on the local radio tower. The audience settles in as the Celestial V members enter backstage.
“Assassination of Mashiro Sayaka was successful, now only her daughter Mashiro Fuyuki remains on the main target list. The sites are ready, we have control over the powerline in case of emergency escape.”
A scout reported to the leader who just entered the balcony of the tower.
“Wait till the concert starts.”
“Understood.”
Itashikir ignored the conversation behind and kept looking through his binoculars.
It appeared that the audience was beginning to enter the stadium. The reflections of the bright lights could be seen from the ocean behind the event area.
Until it, all suddenly went dark. From their night vision goggles, Celestial 5 idols quickly move into their position.
There she is, Mashiro Fuyuki, their primary target. Being the last she followed the other members on the stage. Kana, the girl he met yesterday was just meters away from their target.
He reaffirms his purpose, as he takes a look at the contact list of his phone in hand. Just one call, the stadium would immediately be engulfed in flames. And innocents will die.
“What’s wrong, Itashikir?”
The leader asked, leaning onto the fence of the balcony beside him.
No, there is no such thing as innocence. It’s only a scale of responsibility one must bear.
Remembering the time he shot his brother. He has made up his mind. It’s merely a number, it doesn’t matter how many die. Justice must be served no matter what the consequences are.
With those thoughts in his mind, he pressed the call button.

It was too dark for the audience to see in the stadium with the lights turned off. Just as Mashiro arrived at her position, her bracelet went loose and fell onto the ground, sliding to Kana’s side. She quickly turned around, hoping to be able to retrieve it before the stage lights were back on.
Kana quickly picked it up from the floor.
Just as she was to hand the bracelet to Mashiro, a series of phone calls could be heard.
The next moment she came to her senses, Mashiro was falling on top of her, shielding her from whatever bright light could be seen in front.
The two fell to the ground and slighted to the side of the stage, then a bright blurry light could be seen coming from the center of the stage.
Nothing could be heard, not even the sound of the ocean. As if she went deaf. Before Kana could confirm what happened on the center stage, Mashiro fell onto her in pain, blocking her view.
The two passed out shortly.

United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Pupatory Prefecture, Amatsumikaboshi, June 10th, 2008
“You were presented to the emergency room with severe burns on your back. It’s a miracle that you survived.”
The doctor explained to Mashiro, who is currently in a wheelchair with a traumatized expression on her face.
The news report shown from the TV on the corner of the room repeats the footage of the terrorist attack, and the murder of millionaire Mashiro Sayaka, her mother. Who was found dead at her house?
“Can I see Kana?”
Not sure what to do from life from now on, clinging onto the last person she can relate to in her world. She has been asking the same thing for the past few days, however, the doctors refused her request every time she asked.
“...Why won’t you let me see her? She’s alive right?”
Mashiro asked the doctor, begging to see her friend. Seeing that she was about to collapse at any moment, the doctor finally agreed.
He led Mashiro to the hallway just outside of Kana’s room. Looking into the room through the window, Kana has already woken from her coma, and she is acting very energetic.
Feeling a sense of relief, Mashiro immediately asked for permission to go in.
However, the doctor refused.
“She is not aware of the attack. She is subconsciously selecting the information she only wants. Television, news, nor explanation from nurses did not get through her. She even begins talking to imaginary representations of your deceased friends”
He explained coldly.
“We cannot have you to meet her, which will risk her current mental health…”
“I… I.. Understood.”
This was for the best. It’s better for her.
“Ah… it’s back to 0.”
Her world has been left in ruins, it’s all back to nothing.
“I wonder what’s father doing now.”
Mashiro muttered as tears began to flow down.
“Mother’s dead. He didn’t even bother to come to see me…”
She giggled crazily in complete despair.

The nurses lead Mashiro back to her room. The doctor returned to his office.
“I promised to not tell her, it was none other than Dr. Mendelson, her father who could save someone with such a severe burn.”
The doctor muttered, regretting not telling Mashiro the truth. This was for the best.
He then opened his drawer.
An empty bottle of an unregistered drug, the drug that was injected into Mashiro.
“Even though you’re a cold-blooded heartless monster just like the rumors said to be. Genocide, experimentation on prisoners… deep down you still retain some humanity don’t you, Simon?”

Eastern Imperium, State of Motia-Candor, ???, June 6th, 2020
“You’re finally awake.”
Waking from her dream, a blurry hooded figure could be seen sitting next to her. It took a few moments before the pain kicked in.
“Don’t move. It’s already a miracle you survived.”
The hooded figure said.
“Eh?”
At first, Mashiro (Fuyuki) did not understand what she meant. “Survived?”
’How did I get here?’
Mashiro spaced out for a moment.

..
.
“Something hit me and... It was hot? Cold? What was it…”
She tries to remember moments before she passed out. However, she does not have an exact idea of what has happened. “That’s right, we were in Citadel, and then…”
“There was an attack.”
The hooded figure provided Mashiro the answer without looking at her face.
“...but. Huh? So it was all a dream? Me shifting to politics and-”
Mashiro started talking to herself after a long pause in the conversation.
“What on earth are you talking about?”
The hooded figure turns to Mashiro, taking off the hood. Showing two additional feline ears. Mashiro paused for a moment, realizing she must be one of the rumored ex-bioweapon populations.
“What’s the date?”
Mashiro then asked, horrified by her hypothesis of the being in front of her, that she came up within her mind.
“The name is Marissa working for the PHS. Also, today is June 6th, 2020, the attack was days ago”
Marissa replied as she turned away to reach for her laptop on the table of the other side of the darkroom they’re currently in.
Marissa sighed immediately after checking the news.
“What’s happening, Marissa?”
“Don’t worry about it, you being alive is my, and the democratic faction’s top priority. We’ll stay here until your wounds are healed.”
Marissa explained as she closed her PHS intelligence sharing window, keeping Mashiro from knowing the current situation.
“...Alright.”
Mashiro agreed, turning her focus on the cracked ceiling. Despite the fact there were holes on the ceiling, it was unnaturally dark. The room returned to an awkward silence as Marissa continued to scroll through the news. She wasn’t reading, she was only pretending to be busy in order to escape the awkward situation.
Something has been bothering her, it was what she saw back when rescuing Mashiro from the rally platform in the fire. Why did Mashiro have a bullet wound if the terrorists planned to blow up the platform? Her instinct is telling her there is something more to this being an attack from a single faction-

“Where are we?”
Mashiro suddenly asked Marissa, breaking the silence.
Marissa paused for a moment to come back to her senses, then she leaned on her chair and reached for the curtains.
They were in an underground ruin, a massive one that was held up by massive fossilized trees. A pipe covered machine could be seen in the distance. The mechanical movements make it look like a beating heart.
“Miostation ruins, 800m below Edokyuuria.”

New Republic of Frontera, Unknown remote region, June 6th, 2020
Getting off the plain white van, Inaban and Akima arrived at the entrance of a small village in a forest near the Mendenwall border. The village’s entrance architecture is somewhat familiar to the two.
“Well, you're both governor-general and admiral. What’s next? Grand Chancellor?”
Akima teased her as he closed the door and waved farewell at the driver.
“Well, I’m sure the Hirosei and the airforce won’t be very happy seeing me being in the central government.”
Inaban replied as she took out an old tourist map.
“Anyway. Fuyu- I mean- Inaban, Why didn’t we bring any guards with us?”
“We don’t want to scare the refugees, Akima.”
Inaban replied as she and Akima walked into the entrance. The forest was dense, sunlight could barely get through.
On the other side of the tunnel of trees and bushes, there was a large village of strange yet somewhat familiar architecture surrounded by cliffs on all sides, hidden from the outside world.
“They are political refugees hiding from Miotia-Candor after all.”
Inaban muttered.

Doors and windows close as the two enter the perimeter of the village. Children on the street were taken into buildings as the two walked further down the main road. Villagers who noticed the military insignia of the two would turn their frightened gaze to a furious glare.
“Is this Opere person here?”
Akima asked as he followed Inaban carefreely.
“According to the post office records, she is here. One of the last survivors of both the Omikane clan and the PGRI unit’s experiments.”
Inaban explained with confidence as if she has read an entire book about it.
“Well yeah, and she might have something to do with the right-winged Fronteran conspiracy that the Yotsubishi and SSS 8th branch plotted.”
Akima suggested, taking out his pistol at the farm with the pitchfork.
“Put that down.”
Inaban ordered Akima, preventing a conflict from breaking out between the two and the villagers.
“We’ve arrived.”
Inaban said, showing Akima the nameplate of the Opere household.

The two sat down on the sofa, as Opere prepared tea for her guest. Opere is a woman in her late 30s, with long black hair with a yellow long dress.
The windows of the house were all closed, leaving two small light bulbs as light sources.
“You’re…?”
Opere asked the two calmly as she handed them the tea.
“We’re investiga-”
“We’re from the 3rd SSS branch.”
Before Akima could finish his lie, Inaban already introduced their identity.
“Akima, There’s no point in hiding from these people. They know more than we know.”

“And what do you want?”
Opere asked in a tired expression.
“About the Inspector plane that was supposed to be inspecting the Yotsubishi 8th and 1st branch back in December 2019. Who shot it down.”
Inaban asked coldly.
“sigh......Itashikir that idiot...”
Opere muttered.
“Tell us more about him.”
Inaban asked politely.
“He’s… had fought for us, for the freedom and right to live for all of us here. Everyone one of us here is thankful for him.”
Opere paused for a moment to take a deep breath.
“However, his definition of freedom differs from ours. To us the villagers here, freedom is what we can roam the world freely and openly outside without being targeted nor discriminated against. Itashikir’s definition of true freedom is to eliminate those who try to steal that freedom from us, killing them all.”
Opere explained as she looked down on the table, unable to face the two.
“Just as the PHS suspected, Itashikir was the one-”
Akima commented.
“No.”
Opere immediately interrupted him.
“It was back in November 2019….We were threatened by a group of mysterious militia and the Yotsubishi Corporation’s 1st, 8th and 14th branches.”
“1st!?”
“In order to protect our secret refuge here, Itashikir accepted their terms and leaked what he knew about SSS-001 back in the old PGRI unit.”
Opere continued her explanation, turning her head to the picture of her with Itashikir.
“They brought back that old hatred of the United Kingdom within him; they managed to convince him to join them in their effort to prevent a Miraculum Resonance.”
“Miraculum Resonance?”
Inaban asked, never heard of such terms.
“I do not know. But that seems to be what the 1st branch came for. It has something related to SSS-001.”
“SSS-001… so it exists.”
Inaban muttered. This was out of her prediction, 001 has always been thought to be a buffer. However, it seems the 1st branch has been plotting this all along.
“May I ask who was leading the 1st branch’s team when they came here?”
“A man named Alfred Heller-”
Inaban busted out in laughter before Opere could finish her reply. She immediately recognizes Deputy military head of state Nick Heller’s brother.
“So you’re telling me, Yotsubishi Corporation 1st branch is teaming up with the United Royal Army which currently controls much of the Edokyuuria government.”
Inaban took a sip of tea and choked due to her urge to laugh.
“Well if you think about it. Yotsubishi Corporation could just neutralize the stress scan in the Citadel area days ago during the attack, which would prevent any stress detection when they trigger the bomb. Which would then put Nick Heller in control of Edokyuuria.”
Inaban explained her conclusion and stood up, getting ready to leave.
“Please wait.”
Opere called.
“After Alfred Heller, the guards, and Itashikir left. The 14th and 8th branch opened fire on the remaining 1st branch personnel. Mentioned something about her ‘majesty is awaiting results in Minervaindexca.’ ”
Akima spilled the tea when he heard what Opere reported.
“So she’s alive. Who would’ve thought the 2nd princess would be part of the top brass of Minervaindexca.. And she’s ahead of all of us here… to prevent whatever this Miraculum Resonance event is.”
Inaban muttered walking towards the front door as Akima followed.
“Wait, what will happen to Itashikir?”
Opere asked worriedly before the two opened the door.
“Will he be able to come back?”
“...”
“...”
“No...”
Opere leaned on the wall for support, she was on the edge of collapse.
“No.. you people going to take everything from me again…”
Opere muttered as she glared at Akima’s military insignia.
“Justice must be served, Itashikir is involved in a terrorist attack. He must be brought to justice and tried.”
Inaban replied coldly. Opere fell into despair as painful tears started to flow from her eyes.
“However, Opere.”
“Eh?”
“If you come back to the United Kingdom. You will be able to be with him, after all this.”
“Just what are you talking about Miss Inaban. You think me, a descendant of the Omikane clan, could just walk back to Miotia-Candor without expecting to get shot in the head in the customs?”
“Opere-”
“Your people committed genocide on our people and this has stayed hidden within the global media. Transition to democracy? Why hasn’t the government admitted such crimes?”
“Oprere, listen.”
“And you expect that I could just go back and-”
“Opere! I am asking if you want to be with Itashikir!”
Inaban shouted back at the panicking women.
“Opere, answer me. Yes or no. You either live here alone for the rest of your life, or come back to the United Kingdom…. I promise... I will make this tragedy come to light.”
“...I…”
“This is for the greater good, the United Kingdom is desperately covering its past. We cannot move forward until those atrocities are uncovered.”
Opere was shocked by what Inaban told her. She looked into Inaban’s eyes, the admiral was dead serious.
“..I-”

New Republic of Frontera URN 1st fleet, DDVN Hakuhou, June 7th, 2020
“Weigh anchor!”
Captain Akima ordered.
The first fleet slowly moves out of the naval port. Inaban and Opere were both outside the bridge looking at the sunrise. Unlike when the fleet had first arrived, there was no fog, the sky was clear.
“As soon as we enter the Rias International Space Elevator Zone. There’s a chance we will be intercepted by the United Royal Army or Airforce. So be prepared.”
Akima announced.
“Nothing has really changed huh…you people are still fighting among yourselves.”
Opere muttered, looking at the light on the horizon.
“No. We have changed. This will be the final chapter of our dark past. This time for sure, we’ll end it.”
Inaban replied, leaning on the fence beside Opere, looking onto the horizon. The tip of the sun could be seen shining a bright light on to the water and reflecting it onto the URN Hakuhou.
“This time for sure. I will end it for you, Shinozaki. Let’s all go home together.”
Inaban muttered as she grabbed onto her Pupatoriaan cross amulet.

Eastern Imperium, State of Motia-Candor, Edokyuuria Arcology, Citadel, Grand Chancellor’s office June 6th, 2020
With blood covering her left eye, the former air force chief Hirosei pushes her revolver onto Nick Heller’s forehead.
Corpses of guards and witnesses filled the hallway and in the military government office.
Taking deep breaths to suppress the pain of her wounds, she continues to question the whereabouts of Alfred Heller and the conspiracy.
“If it wasn’t your men in the URA who killed Osamu, and it wasn’t Fronteran’s. Then who else can it be?”
“I don’t know anything! Please!”
Hirosei then takes out a PHS locked pistol and points at Nick.
Nick Heller’s stress level is currently at 121, below the recruitment for the PHS pistol to unlock its safety.
“Tch. I’d ask you again, where is Alfred Heller.”
Hirosei demands an answer and pushes the revolver into Nick’s mouth.
“He said he was going down to the system with hi-”
Before Nick Heller could finish it, the PHS pistol automatically unlocked itself as Nick Heller’s stress level increased at an inhuman rate.
“So that’s how it is.”
Hirosei giggled, finally realizing the true enemy. She then shot Nick Heller in the head, she had no intention of sparing his life from the start.
“Sigh, how many times will this throne be stained with blood?”
Hirosei turned her focus to the Grand Chancellor's office chair, the one which Shinozaki Fuyu, Mashiro Fuyuki once sat on.
She walked over to the office chair and took a long look despite the disgusting smell of blood in the room.
“That’s not a throne some sinners like me have the right to sit on.”
She shook her head and walked away from it.
Sat on the sofa, looking around Mashiro’s former office. Filled with decorations and manga, which used to be looking like a fan girl's room rather than a government office. Now all stained with blood.
She stared at the PHS pistol in her hand.
“Don’t play dumb… ATHENA system… unlocking a PHS firearm before confirming the target’s mental health…what are you trying to hide?”
She then takes out her phone with a cracked screen, scrolling through the contact list to find officer Sutsushi.
“I truly wonder whether or not our so-called god of judgment can judge its potential criminal talent through the system it is running on?”
She muttered before she called Sutsushi.

Eastern Imperium, State of Motia-Candor, PHS Headquarters, June 6th, 2020
“Yotsubishi’s CEO Osamu Shinji’s corpse was found in his mansion. Judging from the stage of the corpse’s decomposition, it’s safe to say he was killed at least a week ago.”
Division 2’s head investigator reported as he presented the pictures of the crime scene onto the display. The rest of the briefing room sighed.
“The question is who killed Osamu. The government insiders or this Itashikir person? But why?”
“No leads huh?”

“Osamu Shinji is dead. We have no idea who killed him”
Officer Lionheart asked Operator Shinozaki in their office.
Shinozaki puts down the magazine she was reading and sighed.
“Whoever killed him, it’s not for money-”
Before Shinozaki could finish, Officer Sutsushi’s phone rang. Sutsush stopped her paperwork, put down her pen, and picked up the phone.
“800m below...ATHENA’s what?.. What are you saying… Hirosei?.”

Eastern Imperium, State of Motia-Candor, 800m below Edokyuuria, Miostation ruins, June 7th, 2020
“It seems we’re trapped down here.”
Blancy said as he climbed up to the roof of one of the residential ruins.
“I’m sorry.”
Kana apologizes for her recklessness to enter the abandoned subway.
It’s been more than a day since Kana walked off on her own to follow a familiar face down to the underground ruins. Blancy followed her down to the ruins, the two ended up getting lost in the maze-like ghost town of Miostation.
“I’ve seen pictures in books, but never knew those ancient tree fossils were this colossal.”
Kana tried to change the topic,as she looked at the fossilized forest that supported the massive underground space.
“Yeah…. That’s not something you see everyday…”
Blancy replied. To a Blancy who was raised in Serpenteum, such a surreal landscape was beyond his expectation of the United Kingdom’s absurdity. Those giant tree fossils do remind him of something…
What if…no, no way.
Probably due to the stress he is experiencing, he probably over thought about his surroundings.
Meanwhile, Kana thought about the person she followed, the name of the person. Why was the memory of that day so blurry?
“Hey, Miss Ichibana. I think I found some help.”
Blancy reported from the roof, having spotted a small team of security guards and a man in a white suit.
“That’s great.”
Kana replied, pretending to care. Still blaming herself for leading Blancy here.
“Though they’re heading to that glowing core-like structure at the center… though I’ve never seen those armbands before…. We should follow them at a safe distance.”
Blancy suggested as he climbed down from the roof to his backpack. Those armbands bear similarities to those he saw back in the abandoned underground orphanage where he met Marissa.
“...Blancy?”
Kana asked curiously after she heard the recognizable sound of a pistol reloading its magazine.
“Sorry, I didn’t tell you that earlier, but I was a retired Serpenteum operative in the last UK-Serp war.”
“Eh?”
“Just in case.”
Blancy said while pointing at his pistol. Implying the group they’re following could be hostile.

Eastern Imperium, State of Motia-Candor, 800m below Edokyuuria, Miostation ruins, outside of the core facility, June 7th, 2020
Itashikir quietly follows Alfred’s force from behind. I took a long look at the colossal mechanical heart generator suspended between the bottom of Edokyuuria and the heart of Miostation.
The bottom half of the structure was ruins of the former Senate Terminal that collapsed into Miostation. The old fortress that stood above the authoritarian skyline before the civil war back in 2019. He too saw the collapse of it on TV, he remembered the sense of joy and relief when he saw it. Believing it to be the end of it all, but he was wrong. Not only did the new government not acknowledge or perhaps even unaware of the crimes their predecessors once did. And so, history repeats itself, he was so disappointed when the Speranta Tree rose from the underground abandoned orphanage. Those miraculum technologies of the past should’ve stayed hidden.
Alfred opened the gate into the core facility within the old senate terminal ruins. The ATHENA logo could be seen from the lobby within.
“Just as I expected, it was the same project.”
The logo of the ATHENA system was merely a modification of the old PRGI logo.
Those stress monitoring devices mentioned by Mendelson back in 1997 were merely a prototype, and Yotsubishi Heavy Industry finished it.
Itashikir quietly followed Alfred and his forces into the facility just before the gate closed.
Little did he know, Kana and Blancy were behind.
“That person, you were the one you were chasing after wasn’t it?”
Blancy asked Kana as he searched for an entrance into the facility with his binoculars.
“Yes… now I remember… his name was… Itashi…?”
Uncertain of her conclusion, Kana spaced out while she looked around the underground ruined city.
Blancy remained silent. He soon noticed a collapsed ruin of a large building that is leaning against the walled facility. It is possible to get inside by climbing over the ruined structure.
Unsure of his decision on whether approaching the facility was the right choice, but it seems like this is the only chance for them to get out.
“I’ve found a way in.”

Eastern Imperium, State of Motia-Candor, 800m below Edokyuuria, Miostation ruins, outside of the core facility, June 7th, 2020
On a certain clock tower, Mashiro Fuyuki and Marissa saw the whole situation.
“That’s the guy I met back in…”
Mashiro muttered as she looked at Blancy through her binoculars.
“Why is Kana here!?”
Blancy and Kana were climbing into the walled facility that Afred and his forces just entered.
Interrupting her observation, Marissa sitting beside her gave her a gun.
“This…”
Mashiro was about to reject it, however, she hesitated for a moment before accepting it.
“The core facility is the fastest way up to Edokyuuria.”
Marissa insisted that they have to enter the facility as well.
“Even if it wasn’t, I can’t leave my friends in danger, the truth of the ATHENA system is also in there as well.”
Mashiro replied with a smile.
“I knew you’d say that.”
Marissa took out her assault rifle as she led the way.

Eastern Imperium, State of Motia-Candor, 800m below Edokyuuria, Miostation ruins, Unknown facility, ATHENA system, June 7th, 2020
At the end of the bright white corridor, there was a giant door with overcomplicated mechanical locks. Alfred approached it and touched it with his hand.
“The rest of you stay here and guard the entrance.”
He ordered as the door scan his fingerprints, opening the complex mechanism one by one.
He then took out a sealed plastic bag with a USB inside from his pocket.
This was the USB the SSS 3rd branch, under the command of Inaban Fuyu, retrieved from a PRGI site near Inaritetsugen back in the spring of 2019. After a raid by both the airforce and the ground force at the naval HQ, a ceasefire was issued directly from the late Imperatrix due to the start of the Serpenteum war. Since then the USB has been kept in the Imperial palace until it was raided and burnt down by his men days ago.
“What Inaban did not know was that an executable file for the ATHENA system hidden within the hard drive existed.”
Alfred muttered. The door was now opened, bright light-shielded the inside, preventing the hallway from looking in.
“You have permission to fire at anyone that shows up .”
He ordered before he slowly walked inside the artificial heart of the United Kingdom.

The room inside the heart was purely white. It was a massive spherical space with a bridge connected to a smaller sphere, perhaps a coffin suspended by a white plantation at the center of it.
The Architecture of this scenery was like something out of this world, perhaps divine looking.
Extracted Nervous systems are stored within the walls of the spherical space, connected by white root-like circuits, all leading to either the bottom or the top of the spherical room. And Finally connecting it all to the center sphere.
A control panel could be seen on a monolith surrounding the center sphere.
Alfred took a deep breath and slowly approached the center.
“Welcome, Alfred Heller. We’ve been expecting you.”
A distorted yet familiar voice he heard from behind.
He turned around, reaching for his pistol, but there was no one.
He sighed and turned back to the sphere at the center, believing it to be a hallucination.
There stood a completely white female figure with nearly no features other than long hair.
“A hologram?”
Alfred asked as he put away his gun.
“Does this look like a hologram to you, fellow Miotian?”
The figure knocked onto the monolith with her hand, the sound of impact could be heard echoing through the room.

BGM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm_YGphn_VM
“What are you.”
Alfred asked as he continued to approach the monolith, but the white figure only giggled.
“I’m merely a shadow of a girl who is confined to dreaming for an eternity.”
She answered as she jumped and sat onto the sphere at the center.
“Confined to Dream?”
Alfred asked confusedly as he approached the sphere. He then understood what she meant.
“So that’s how it is…”
Alfred muttered, having realized the truth.
The sphere at the center of it all was nothing but a sarcophagus. Inside was the crystallized body of a young girl. Judging from her clothing, she was at least a century, if not centuries old.

Their conversation was interrupted when multiple gunshots could be heard from the outside.
Alfred turned around and saw a heavily wounded Hirosei standing on top of the corpse of his guards injecting herself with a military-grade painkiller.
“Just how far are you willing to go to stop me, Hirosei? When have you become so soft for the general public?”
Alfred asked calmly.
Hirosei leaned on the handrail as she walked into the white spherical room with blood dripping on the way.
“...”
Hirosei did not answer, she fired at Alfred instead.
The white root surrounding the sarcophagus grew rapidly and formed into a shield protecting Alfred before they returned to their normal forms once again.
“Tsk.”
Hirosei threw away her pistol before she collapsed onto the floor leaning against the fence.
“So you’ve decided to die here?”
Alfred asked Hirosei, who was now taking a look around the inside of the spherical room.
“So this is inside the ATHENA system huh? Not a bad place to die.”
She replied before she looked at the red pool at the very bottom of the heavenly spherical space.
“So those are the remaining failed synthetic humans?”
Hirosei asked after she noticed rusted humanoid figures could be seen on the side of the pool.
“There was once a group of idealistic foolish people, who thought humanity would become perfect and truly have peace if the 7 deadly sins were removed.”
The white figure explained as she walked past Alfred and headed toward Hirosei.
“However those were elements that made humanity human.”
She explains as she stood before Hirosei.
“...Dr. Mendelson..”
Alfred muttered.
“Without these elements, they would just be an empty shell. Being kind to someone just for the sake of being kind... Everything a human does has a motive for the benefit of ourselves. Being a better person for others is merely an action to preserve human relations.”
The white figure explained.
Alfred turned around and faced the monolith’s control panel.
“...Is this alright with you? Alfred?”
The white figure then turns toward Alfred who just plugged in the USB into the monolith.
“What are… you trying to do…”
Hirosei asked Alfred who was now accessing the mainframe of the ATHENA system.
Before Alfred could attempt to answer, Itashikir rushed in and opened fire at Alfred, however, his bullets were blocked before it reached Alfred.
“You’ve betrayed Osamu Shinji, Alfred Heller! Stop the Resonance process now!”
Itashikir shouted at Alfred. Their initial agreement was to prevent a Miraculum Resonance caused by SSS-001. Alfred ended up betraying both the Yotsubishi Heavy Industry and the United Royal Army in power.
“For power and wealth, those idiots would do anything for me.”
Alfred replied as he unlocked the sealed folder with the Miraculum Resonance program.
“The stress system itself is a buff. What it truly judge is people’s worth to the benefit of society...Osamu Shinji was deemed to be useless and a threat not by anyone but her...”
Hirosei explained as she pointed at the white figure.
“The system, the artificial god of judgment we’ve created through the minds of 600 minds connected.”
Hirosei explained her original hypothesis to Itashikir.
“Or so it seemed.”
Admitting she was wrong.

“But in the end, you did figure out what the ATHENA system truly is didn’t you? Hirosei?”
Alfred asked the fatally wounded air force chief.
“Ah yes... the true nature of SSS-001…”
Hirosei muttered as she looked at the white figure.
“Is the Materialization of-”
Before Hirosei could finish it, she was interrupted by footsteps.
“Alfred, we have more guests.”
The white figure said.
Blancy and Kana could be seen on the far end of the hallway outside.

“Itashi?”
Kana called out to Itashikir. Itashikir immediately recognizes her voice. This was someone he hoped to not meet again due to his guilt.
“Is that you?”
Kana asked again, starting to approach him. What Kana did not know was that Itashikir was the one who was responsible for the attack in 2008, the event that killed nearly all of her friends.
“Don’t come any closer!”
Itashikir shouted back at her.
“Please… don’t come any closer…”
Tears of regret and guilt began to flow down his face as he looked away to hide it.

“Kana!”
Mashiro shouted from behind Marissa inside the ventilation inside the ceiling as Marissa leaped into the hallway from the ventilation and fired at Itashikir’s hand, disarming him.

“Even the Grand Chancellor is here… We’ve got a party going here?”
Hirosei giggled as she covered her wound to slow the blood loss.
Itashikir quickly reached for his other pistol and fired at Marissa, but she dodged them.
“You were that child with the synthetic miraculum mutation back then… What are you doing
here.”
Itashikir asks as Marissa leaps behind him and puts a knife to his throat.
“Don’t move. 2 timer Terrorist.”
Having recognized Marissa, they met when she fell into Shinozaki and Marissa’s car back in the outer ruined districts of Edokyuuria.
“What are you doing Marissa!?”
Kana urges Marissa to release Itashikir as Mashiro comes down from the ventilation with the help of Blancy.
“Kana, this person is-”
Marissa began her explanation without knowing Kana both Mashiro’s situation of being former Celestial 5 members.
“Itashikir is a 2 timer terrorist who is responsible for 2008 and 2020’s attack.”
Alfred, the white figure, and Hirosei remained silent.
“Eh?”
Kana collapsed on her knees as memories of the past event came back to her.
The moment before Mashiro fell onto her on stage, the moment before everything ended up in flames. The moment when the silhouette of her friends fades in bright light. It all came back to her.
“This can’t be true right?”
Kana asked as she looked at Itashikir, who is avoiding eye contact with her.
Mashiro was shocked but she has no reason to deny what Marissa just said, she never had any connection with Itashikir after all. She will do anything to put him behind the bars.
“Why would you do that!?”
Kana asked in despair as the world of lies and deception by her own is crumbling. Looking down on the floor stained with the blood of the guard’s corpses.
A pistol could be seen on the belt of the corpse in front, within her reach.
She took the pistol and aimed at Itashikir.
“Kana, what are you doing!?”
Mashiro shouted at her former classmate and demanded her to put the gun down.
Kana glares at Itashikir.
“You deceived me back in the storage room, you killed all our friends…you dragged innocent people in this...”
Kana said in a quiet voice as she unlocked the safety of the gun. Blinded by the desire for avenging her friends, Kana ignored her surroundings.

“I guess you are correct… Alfred.”
Hirosei turned over to Alfred and said.
“...I’m now going to wake her up.”
Alfred turned over to the sarcophagus and said before executing the setup program for Miraculum Resonance into the ATHENA system.
“Is this truly fine with you?”
The white figure asked Hirosei who was about to lose consciousness.
“You’ve been dreaming for all of us for so long, why don’t you wake up and walk on the surface once more…?”
Hirosei replied to the white figure.
“Miraculum cell is just merely a by-product on the surface of the mystery. The so-called underground space of the United Kingdom is the true surface of the ancient world. The tree fossils were created by a regional scale Miraculum Resonance chain reaction effect long ago with the use of multiple catalyzes of overwritten minds and desire. The modern land and people of the twin kind is nothing but a mere materialization of a single dream by Miraculum effect. And that even to this day, that girl inside the sarcophagus is still dreaming. Refusing to wake up, for all of us.”
Alfred explained as he watched the setup program’s installation complete.
“I knew those fossilized trees had a similar structure to Speranta.”
Blancy mutters, attempting to stop Alfred, the white figure blocks and prevents him from further advancing to the monolith and the sarcophagus.
The white figure turns over to Kana now glares and aims her gun at Itashikir with hatred.
“In the end, multiple individuals processing free will will only spark conflicts. Two will only result in different opinions not being able to fully decide on an action. Three would start the act of oppression. With the concept of majority rules, the one with different opinions other than the two will have to follow their rules. Eventually end in arguments, conflicts, generalization, discrimination, hatred. Until it consumes all. Multiple individual possession of free will will end in suffering.”
The white figure claimed. Despite it not having any facial features, the tears could be seen flowing down the face of the white figure.
“Unlike others, we have the choice to return to one. That is to dematerialize the dream within her.”
Alfred said while looking at the girl inside the sarcophagus as he started the process of Miraculum Resonance.
Marissa dropped her knife and fell onto the ground. Her legs felt weak.

“Kana! Snap out of it!”
Mashiro shouted as she began to walk over to her as fast as she could, constrained by her wounds.
“You have every right to kill me, Kana.”
Itashikir said, turning to look Kana in the eyes.
Finally admitting his guilt.

“Killing Itashikir will only bring another conflict between the Omikane clan and the United kingdom, further deepening the wounds. That is what Alfred wanted.”
Operative Shinozaki said calmly as she, officer Sutsuhi and officer Lionheart arrived at the scene.
“So it has begun huh, the apocalypse?”
Shinozaki asked while she leaned onto the wall, weakening due to her body’s high concentration of miraculum property.

Earthquakes began to happen throughout the surface of the United Kingdom as the fossil trees supporting them started to collapse and return to dust form. With towns and even cities collapse into an 800m fall into the abyss.
The URA and URAF attempted to evacuate civilians, however even they started to feel heavy and slowly lost consciousness. The water from the crater lake began to drain and started to flood into Miostation. Sitting on the ‘origin tree’ the surrounding of Edokyuuria began to collapse into the underground slowly.
“This is Asteroid Ship Tiamat, ground control, please respond! Ground control, please respond!”
“This is URN Hakuhou of the first fleet, Sieg Naval Academy, please respond.”
“Captain, we’ve lost contact with the Edokyuurian airport.”

Not understanding a single thing the people surrounding her were saying, Kana lowered her gun a little as her consciousness started to fade too.
“Kana, come back to your senses. He is not worth getting your hand-stained.”
Mashiro said calmly as she sat beside her.
“...”
“I’m sure Chifuya would be mad at you if you do that. Charlotte and Laruna wouldn't want you to take the burden for them either.“
Mashiro hugged Kana tight, as the surroundings were being engulfed by a bright light coming from the sarcophagus.
“Prove them wrong, Kana.”
A familiar voice could be here in the light. It was her nothing more but her hallucination of her friends.
“Prove them wrong.”
Chifuya said with a smile.
“But you’re not even real…”
Kana replied in tears.
“Who’s to say? We’re currently surrounded by Miraculum particles.”
Laruna said in a joking manner.
“What’s real and not real doesn’t matter at this point.”
Charlotte added as she fixed her hair.
“What’s important is that we’re here.”
Chifuya walks over to Kana.
“People can never live alone. Kana.”
Chifuya and Mashiro slowly lower Kana’s gun.

The white figure smiled.
“I see… that’s what I hoped for deep down...”
The inhabitants of this land are merely her imagination, they are simply her. However, these creatures of imagination show what she does not know deep down about herself.
Having realized her true wish from her influences within her dream. She quietly and gently as she dematerialization.
The earthquake shows no sign of stopping nor does the increasing intensity of the bright light.
It soon engulfed the entirety of the Greater Edokyuuria district.

State of Miotia-Candor, 800m below Edokyuuria, Miostation ruins, June 8th, 2020
The sound of birds and running water could be heard.
Kana opens her eyes, the bright light of the sun shines directly onto her, forcing her to block it with her hand.
A clear blue sky could be seen. Looking at her surroundings, this was no longer the dark and underground space she remembered.
Collapsed cave ceilings and vegetation-covered terrain. Ruins of modern apartments covered in plantations could be seen below the holes where the sun shines down.
Those must’ve fallen here with parts of the surface.
Looking to her right, Mashiro was still laying there, unconscious.
Turning around, the ATHENA system’s core structure could be seen inactive. Most of the structure is still intact but covered in strange plantations.
Kana returns her focus to Mashiro, and pokes her until she wakes.
“Huh…? Let me sleep for another 5 minutes.”
Reminding her of her younger self. Kana rolls Mashrio’s face in the dirt.
“Goddamnit.”
Mashiro muttered, as she got up and wiped all the dirt away from her face.
She then takes a look around, unable to recognize the alien terrain.
“Are we dead?”
She asked based on her conclusion.

“I see.”
Kana replied to Mashiro after hearing her explanation of not seeing her after all these years.
“I’m sorry”
Mashiro apologized.
The two sat there enjoying the beautiful scenery.
“I wonder where the others are.”
Kana said as she stood up, searching for signs of human life.
“I truly do wonder how much the terrain changed… “
Mashiro muttered, knowing that there will be conferences about the disaster.
“You’re going to continue your political career, Mashiro?”
“I have something I want to change about this place.”
“That’s unlike you, having a proper goal for your administration.”
Kana jokes.
When the sound of a helicopter could be heard. The two immediately looked up, it was URN Hakuhou’s medical transport helicopter.
“I guess we’re not dead after all.”
Mashiro said and smiled at Kana.

Epilogue: United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Edokyuuria Arcology, Kana’s journalist office, September 29th 2020
Months have passed since the event known as the Northern Wasaru Greatquake. In truth, it was a name used by the SSS to cover up the near Miraculum Resonance event.
Major cities have been destroyed during the disaster, with the current population of Miotia-Candor mainland dropping from 186 million to 148 million.
Mashiro was reelected after she ordered the Candorian Imperial association to declassify the event that purged the Omikane clan back in the 80s. The late Imperatrix Kurumi was directly linked to the event, the decision of the reconstruction of the imperial palace has been put to a halt. Additionally, a memorial for the victim of the tragedy has been put at the city square of Omikane. The URN forces have withdrawn from Frontera after met with constant protest from all sides.
“Hey Kana, come to have a look at this on the TV.”
Blancy called from the kitchen.
“What is it? Blancy?”
Kana walked out of the toilet and asked while brushing her teeth.

Princess Eudokia has been using a false name in the Academy city as the Student Council Sanctum’s president, today she has shown herself in the public.
The 2nd princess Eudokia has announced her wish to delay her ascension to the throne until she graduates from Minervaindexca. Though she has no intention of ruling from the throne.
As many of the United Kingdom’s critical laws require the monarch to function, Grand Chancellor Mashiro has stated that there will be reform on the legislation system just as her highness wished.

“Well, this country just gets crazier every day.”
Blancy commented, comparing Miotia-Candor to Serpenteum.
“Indeed…anyway, I need to head out soon.”
Changing the topic immediately.

“Well, aren’t you a little late?”
Shinozaki in her car waiting for Kana asked her who just rushed down from the office apartment.
“Sorry about that.”
Kana apologies.
“Well, Mashiro is waiting for us.”
Marissa said as she lowered the back window.
Lionheart and Sutsushi could be seen playing mobile games in the car.
“Thanks”
She said quietly.

Epilogue: United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Omikane, Rehabilitation Facility, September 29th 2020
“Here he is.”
The guards opened the door to Itashikir’s room for Opere.
From inside the cell, a vast never-ending wheatfield could be seen from all sides of his window.
“It certainly does feel like home…”
Opere commented on the scenery.
“Sorry, I got caught.”
Itashikir apologizes with a smile.
“You had me worried sick leaving the village like that.”
“...I’m sorry.”
“For?”
“?”
“You wanted to come back to see this wheatfield, didn't you. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
“....”
“...why the silence?”
“She gave me a chance to live.”
“Who?”
“A victim of mine.”

[i]
Kana lowered her gun as the white light from the sarcophagus grew stronger.
“Why?”
Itashikir asked her.
“L-I-V-E. Don’t run away from living. Face and Atone for your sins.”
Kana said to him before the white light engulfed everything.
[i]

“She told me to don’t run away from living.”
Itashikir smiled as tears dripped from his face.
It reminded him of his father’s last word.

Epilogue: United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor, Amatsumikaboshi, Celestial 5 memorial, September 29th 2020
“You’re late Kana.”
Mashiro dressed in a black suit complained as Shinozaki, Kana, Lionheart, and Sutsushi got out of the car.
“Who would’ve thought you were that Dr. Mendelson’s daughter, Miss Chancellor.”
Shinozaki walked over to Mashiro and said carefreely.
“I and my father are a very different person, there’s no need for you to worry-”
“I understand, Kiddo Chancellor.”
Shinozaki joked and walked past her. Placing her flowers onto the memorial.
“Good to see you Grand Chancellor.” x2
Lionheart and Sutsushi greeted her.
“There’s no need for such formality… we know each other for such a long time…”
Mashiro replied as she watched the two officers walk toward the memorial.
“Hey Fuyuki”
Kana called.
“Yeah... Kana?”
It's been a while since Kana called her by her first name, surprising Mashiro a little.
“I saw our friends back then.”
“Back then?”
“When I was blinded by my desire for vengeance, there appeared before me. Do you think that was also a hallucination?”
Kana asked while she looked at the memorial and the stage.
“What’s real and not real doesn’t matter...”
Kana turned over to Mashiro, who was smiling back at her.
“You heard it too, Mashiro!?”
“I wonder.”
