Avuron in Hot Water

(Okusha, Avuron) - If there has been any nation in hot water with the international community recently, it has been Avuron; this is the result of being involved in multiple conflicts such as the Minudanian Civil War, Central Osean Republic civil war, Aylwater Invasion, and Cold Alliance Invasion. In spite of this, the country has seen consistent success in every battle it comes across. However, after analyzing the facts, it becomes very apparent that Avuron is preparing for a huge plateau.

Following a recent “press conference,” Queen Scarlet of Avuron, and self-proclaimed heir to the Sarkish throne, alluded to taking in, “...hundreds of thousands of refugees. . . this is the result of the COR war” (Brave, Scarlet). Official investigative reports affirmed that the statistic lied somewhere in the millions. Unfortunately, Avuron is not such a stable country, hence the staggeringly low HDI of .704. This as well as the rampant military expansion have revealed the tainted imagery of what truly is Avuron. Not-so-secretive, however, is the problem with all the refugees that just keep ‘pouring’ into Avuron.

Just yesterday, news outlets leached onto the government promising to start construction on a new, high-speed, Osea railway that would stretch from Antiyard to Lorigia. It would be a very expensive endeavor, nevertheless Queen Scarlet has offered her opinion to be favoring to the megaproject. She claims that it would assist in making the jobs for the millions of ‘neo-Avuronians.’ Moreover, Scarlet has also confirmed feeling favorable to making her own Avuronian canal, though more on that later.

Back to the struggles, Avuron has just been struck with a looming tax surge as an additional fifty-thousand refugees were spot sprawling at the Avuronian border. Likewise, other immigrants have sought the chance to migrate into Avuron and escape their worse-off territories. However, it appears the situation is dire and everyone is losing. This conclusion can definitely be attributed to Avuron as the Avuron jewel has already plummeted 13% in value. Unfortunately, inflation is on the rise and all Avuronians are breaching for a huge economic recession.

This is just the beginning of the hurricane of events to follow as the ship of Avuron sails through the tyrannical storm of an uncertain future. May we pray that Queen Scarlet finds a way to refocus the nation’s attention to rebuilding itself, or she may just go the “Avuronian way” and declare another war.

A Dramatic Change

(Griswall, Asthea) - The Emiko Family, who are the Royal Family of Asthea, have been removed from power due to breaking a large amount of laws, as well as the constitution. A few days ago, Parliament found that the Emiko Famliy:

•Had obtained a high amount of various drugs

•Once gave orders to their Secret Guards to eliminate a opposition party

•Gave orders to kill a Nymph tribe in Wakaranai

•Took slaves from other countries to use for labour

Phase 2 of the new Asthean state ended with Princess Hana Emiko died and Post-Civil War Asthea. In other words, now, in phase 3, their populace doesn't like the Royal Family that much. And then, Astheanians became more aggressive over each other, and that aggressiveness carried from corruption between corporations.

Large Asthean corporations control the government and the parliament is powerful than the Royal Monarch. Hard Nationalism is heard by Astheanians along with some Racism, government shutdown, and even possible assassination

The Family, however, are thankfully in safe hands; they have fled to the Triekru. Emperor Hirohito has now risen power, making changes to the constitution and changing the motto. Asthea has now become a Nationalist Imperialist country. Inhao Kizuka has taken control of the Grand Royal Guards, and the rebellion was led by Hidora Natsu.

Madanhoffgate

(Madanhoff, Lapathiya) - On May 9 of the tenth year of Communism, the Proletarian Guard—the elite shock troops of the Lapathiyan Revolutionary Army, who oversee the security of Madanhoff Castle—seized and detained six men in an attempt to wire the meeting-room of the Committee of Public Safety, nine men who oversee the internal security of Lapathiya. Five of these men were Lapathiyan citizens and counterrevolutionaries; the sixth was a Heulian citizen, an agent strongly suspected of having government connections. His name and identity have yet to be revealed by the Guard. Shortly afterward, the Madanhoff Sovyet convicted the men on charges of espionage. They currently reside in the infamous National Prison of Madanhoff Castle, and are to be tortured and guillotined on May 13, at noon precisely.

This was not their first break-in, as, upon investigation, six functioning bugs were discovered, while the foreign detainee was carrying two more, along with an identification that, according to the Guard and the Committee, proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that the man was directly linked with the government of Heulia, and that this was therefore an attempt by the said government to compromise Lapathiyan national security. An ultimatum has been issued by the Varna Sovyet, and the government of Heulia has yet to reply.

The Guard first suspected a burglary on the date of May 4, just five days after Revolution Day, when a late-night custodian reported hearing a “suspicious scraping sound” emitting from the Laurel Room, the meeting-place of the Committee in the upper chambers of the Imperial Palace, now the National Museum and Archives. Upon investigation, he found nothing wrong, and could no longer detect any sort of unusual sound, nor anything amiss.

The custodian reported the incident to the Guard approximately an hour later, when his shift was terminated. Upon closer investigation the next day, the Guard discovered a carefully-jimmied lock on one of the doors, without any perceptible damage showing on the doorknob or the door itself from the outside; this was indicative of the finest known espionage tools. A bookcase was also believed to have been moved and returned to its place, due to the absence of dust on its edges; thus the “scraping”. The room was carefully and thoroughly scanned, but nothing could be found.

Three nights later, a man was reported by an anonymous passers-by to have been lurking outside the Palace in a very suspicious manner, peering through windows and acting very agitated. The Castle itself, including the famous Revolution Square, is always open, but the Museum closes at sunset for security reasons. When the suspicious man tried the latch of a long-unused scullion door, the individual called for help. Eight IRA (Internal Revolutionary Army) soldiers showed up on the scene, but the man had, by that time, disappeared. No fingerprints were discovered on the latch. The incident was reported to the Madanhoff Sovyet the following day, and—being the second suspected break-in in three days—caused a minor upheaval, resulting in the decision to increase the Guard surveillance on the Palace at all times.

It was two days after the second incident when the men were caught. Fyodor Polinsky, a non-Proletarian security guard working at the Natasha Institute of Scientific Advancement across the street from the Castle, complained of a throbbing headache and begged his fellow staff members for a work release. They agreed, and Polinsky walked across the street to summon his wife via the 24-hour telephone access at the Castle. Upon finding Saint Stefan’s Cathedral closed for the night and unguarded, he hurried to the Palace, where he asked the guards for telephone access. Perceiving his need, one guard led him just inside, where Polinsky contacted his wife. The guard then took a quick break to relieve himself, instructing Polinsky to wait nearby. Polinsky, out of boredom, casually paced just outside the restroom door, which was across from the kitchen. Entering the kitchen, he noticed tape covering the inside latch of the same scullion-door. Alarmed, he at once notified the guard, who sounded the alarm. Rushing up the Palace stairs, six armed guards apprehended Vasily Pugnetszov, a Lapathiyan once arrested on suspection of petty theft, later released due to lack of evidence and testimony. Pugnetszov, who surrendered upon sight, had been acting as a lookout man, but he claimed to be working alone. Not satisfied, the guards conducted a thorough search of he upstairs, and the remaining five men were captured in a dark, out-of-use closet close to the Laurel Room. They were subsequently taken to the National Prison, where they were scrutinized and all current information was collected.

The Madanhoffgate situation has since developed into a diplomatic crisis, and the men will soon be executed for their antics like any other worthy criminals convicted in any other country; but the situation shows just how dangerous it is to attempt such a thing in a land where the people are the police forces, and their eyes are everywhere.

SAWTOOTH BADLANDS INVADED BY VAPIAN KINGDOM

(Keruke, Sawtooth Badlands) - The Sawtooth Badlands is aptly named, a harsh, hostile desert with a population gritted and molded by it, creating tough, resilient, and brutal people. The Kingdom of Vapia decided to invade the region, after the murder of Vapian Soldiers who accidentally killed a citizen of the nation. So far, it's gone horribly. After gaining 3 miles with an invasion force of 300,000, the Sawteeth began a horrid scorched Earth campaign, destroying all valuable assets to the advancing armies. The average lifespan of a Vapian soldier on the lines is 2 minutes, according to the Vapian Commission asked to comment. Field Marshall Alfredo Guzzino has stated when asked to give his opinion, that "If you wanted to know what Hell on Earth was like, Spend 1 minute in the Sawtooth Badlands."

We also sat down with Carlos Ironhorse and got his take on the situation. What was said was extremely Sawtooth sounding. Including "...This is not a war to us, it's a matter of honor. And there is no greater honor than destroying the enemy of the people." This quote surely shows that the sawteeth and their resolve is something that a modern Military of any size or type would have massive issues fighting. Even with only 50,000 mobilized at first, the Vapian military had a hard time pushing in. Now they want to mobilize an additional 400,000 troops, and if the Vapian military was having this much trouble with odds of 6 to 1, then being outnumbered must spell disaster for them.

That basically sums up the situation, the war is going much worse than expected for the Vapians, that's clear. It's unknown and mostly unlikely that they can hold on for much longer with casualty statistics like this. Most nations would be unable to hold on, but the vast Vapian empire allows it to be possible. And things need to change, fast, in this reporters opinion if the Vapians hope to gain any more than 8 miles.

The Aurora

(Fond du Lac, Waupun) - Nothing is better than seeing the northern lights in the northernmost capital of the world in the northernmost nation in the world. People that live in the north most of the time are not quiet about the natural wonders that happen in their nation. In fact, a lot of people love to talk about the natural wonder and phenomena that is the aurora of lights of the northern lights.

"The auroras, both surrounding the north magnetic pole (aurora borealis) and south magnetic pole (aurora australis) occur when highly charged electrons from the solar wind interact with elements in the earth's atmosphere. Solar winds stream away from the sun at speeds of about 1 million miles per hour." (Source: Linkhere)

The northern lights can't just be seen up in Waupun. They can also be seen in Tanabon, Puczovska, northernmost Vapia, Kovichnia, Wizardia, the Baldan Islands, northernmost Guyomartand, Tohru, northernmost Lapathiya, Lucedeia, northernmost Minuda, Slovanksaia, northernmost Creole Union (named Vetvick), Leonlandia, northernmost Tommatito, Eastern Stire, northernmost Volstokn, Greenland, and in Libertandonien. All of these lands are far north enough to see the Aurora Borealis (or the northern lights).

However, the Southern Lights (or the Aurora Australis) can be seen in nations as well. The same sensation can be seen in Glacea, southernmost Lapathiya, southernmost Libertandonien, southernmost Lungha, southernmost Krinslo, southernmost Isobania, South Armatas, Alunya, the Union of Blob Regulators, the Block, southernmost Vapia, and southernmost Asthea. The toughest one to see is the Glacea Southern Lights. However, that is the small sacrifice that one would have to pay to see the greatest view of the Southern Lights. Glacea, because of its little-to-no pollution, is the clearest place to see the Aurora.

No matter which light show you choose, you will always be in for a treat. In fact, you might even for a better amount of fares. KanginiarfikAir, Air Greenland, Creole Airways, Tanabonian Airlines, and a number of others are making this journey more affordable for the average middle-class family. The fares for a round-trip to the north or south nonstop are better than numerous competitors.
