A Brief History of Miruma

The origins of the Miruman people go back almost 23,000 years. Present-day Miruma was first settled by the indigenous Genibus peoples, who lived in small villages along the coast. They thrived on the abundance of seafood and fertile land, especially along the Flumen River. As these small, isolated settlements grew into towns and then cities, they started to become more interconnected, especially after the discovery of the wheel and the construction of roads. They eventually united into the Mirum Confederation around 18,000 years ago. This empire flourished, occupying lands in what is now Miruma, Velly, and Moisus. As they became unified, they started shring ideas among one another. This period was known as the First Golden Age, in which the arts and sciences thrived. Rapid discoveries greatly improved the quality of life in the Mirum Confederation. Many great mathematicians, scientists, philosophists, painters, and sculptors including Geometres, Physicus, Sapiens, Pictor, and Caelator made their mark during this era. The people were governed by a republic, in which they elected representatives from each of the 27 provinces to serve in the Solium, the chamber of representatives. The people were highly knowledgeable, as new ideas were constantly being spread throughout the empire. Furthermore, the Mirum Confederation had very good relations with other nations at the time, strengthening bonds through trade. Explorers brought back exotic items from the distant lands of North and South Osea, Usonea, Fusea, and Verusa. At the time, the present-day region of East Anea was among the most highly advanced in the world. It was an economic powerhouse as well as an intellectual hub that rivaled the rest of the world. However, these great times came to an end due to the barbaric Impius tribes. These fierce warriors invaded the Mirum Confederation from the south around 17,000 years ago, and slaughtered almost a tenth of the people. This greatly changed the attitude of society, which prompted the empire to become more militaristic. As their thirst for revenge grew, they left behind their books and started taking up arms instead. A civil war immediately resulted in the rise of a new leader, Bellator the Great. All of the individuals who had once been pillars of society were now left behind, as a new era had just begun.

The area once known as the Mirum Confederation had now become the Bellum Empire, under Bellator the Great. Being a brave, valiant warrior, he easily subdued the surrounding lands under his empire with his vast armies and the help of his faithful allies in the Moisen Empire. The barbaric tribes of the Anean Desert were completely wiped out by the military might of the Bellum Empire. At one point, the lands of the empire stretched all the way from present-day Pinkies-Oranger all the way down to Isobania. He made laws for his people, and his people loved him for it. It is believed that Bellator's approval rating exceeded that of Miruman rulers today. The Bellum Empire was the military power of East Anea at the time. Bellator was the founder of the Regnum Dynasty, which would go on uninterrupted for almost 2,000 years. It is one of the longest-ruling dynasties in history. Unlike many other empires, which rose and fell very quickly, the Bellum Empire maintained its large military all the way until the end of the Regnum Dynasty. Although it didn't expand its own borders even further, it helped its allies do so. It united many nations on the continent of Anea in what was one of the most powerful military alliances in history: the NEEDS A NAME Alliance. This alliance covered most of Anea, as many leaders joined for protection against their enemies. The alliance is seen by many historians as a peacemaking one instead of a warmongering one. Instead of turning nations against one another, it made former enemies into friends, as most of them joined the alliance for protection against one another. Since they were in the same alliance, they could not attack each other, which eventually made them friends. Just like the Mirum Confederation, the influence of the Bellum Empire is still shown today in many parts of the world. It made alliances with several of the military giants of Strangereal, even those on different continents. Also, it had a tight grip on the nations of the NEEDS A NAME Alliance.

The Regnum Dynasty who has once cared about the people and had an ear for their every need had now become very corrupt. The rulers has no consideration for improving the lives of their subjects; instead, they taxed and exploited the poor to gain more wealth and property. This inspired the people to rise up against the king, Corrumpere the Terrible.
