Defensive Capabilities Boosted with New Starships

The government has today unveiled several massive new starships designed to help the Lunar United States defend itself from foreign aggression. Two new Starcarriers, the Freedom-class carriers LUSS Independence and LUSS Liberty were launched. these types of ships are the first of their kind and have been seen as a symbol of Lunarian innovation at its best. Each ship carries 20 Space Launches to land troops directly into battle, and 60 SF-35 Starfighters. Two Wishangton-class Starcruisers, the LUSS Jeffery Tomson and the LUSS Wishangton, were also launched today. These ships boast state-of-the-art tractor beams and plasma-weaponry and have been specifically designed to engage other ships in interstellar combat.

This investment in the military has been seen as necessary by many analysts as the vulnerability of the LUS to major powers such as the Empire of Dogetopia and Pingu armada has been exposed with heightened tensions. The new ships will provide a major boost for the Lunar Navy, which has so far had to rely on ships left over from the Dogetopian fleet after the Wars for Independence.
