HOW TO PLAY NATIONSTATES

NationStates is a multiplayer political simulation game that you can play in many ways (We will talk more about them). The most common way to play is to "answer issues". This is the only way you can develop and mold your nation to your liking. Every day, your nation will face certain issues about the economy, society, politics, diplomacy, wars,... Your job as a leader is to decide how to solve these issues...

Although issue answering is the main way to play the game, most people who stick around find joys in roleplays, regional politics, writing and debating World Assembly (The equivalent of the United Nations) resolutions, military gameplay (invading and defending regions).

WHAT IS A REGION AND WHAT IS THE SOUTH PACIFIC

A region is basically a group of nations. You are free to move your nation to any region you like by finding one (Click on <The World> on the left to find one), opening its page, then clicking <Move [your nation name] to [region]> (Example: Move Bigtopia to the North Pacific). The region you probably are in right now is the South Pacific (check the [Region] area on your nation page). The South Pacific is one of the five feeder regions that new nations automatically spawn into so you probably came here by chance!

The South Pacific, full name is the Coalition of the South Pacific is one of NationStates's largest and most active regions. We are the home of over [nation number] nations. Aside from being big, we are also one of NationStates's oldest democracies. The community of thousands of nations is governed by a democratic republican government (not roleplay, a real government which has real power) in which any citizen can take parts. We offer a variety of activities ranging from just bantering on the Regional Message Board (RMB) to roleplaying, writing newspapers, collecting endorsements, invading and defending other regions from being invaded, making laws that govern the entire region,...

WHERE DO I START IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC

• Chat with fellow regional nations on the Regional Message Board (RMB)! Make sure you read the Guideline first though to know the rules.

• Participate in the Southern World Assembly Initiative: This is the best way to gather endorsements, influence for your nation and help our region more secure and powerful.

• Join our forum: Most of the activities of the government along with formal roleplays and journalism happen on our forum so get on it is a must if you are interested in real politics!

• Join our Discord chat: This is where majority of chats about daily life subjects and informal discussions about government matters and NationStates happen. Also, this is the easiest place to receive help and get in touch with government officials so join it if you haven't already!

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

• Actively chat and engage with other nations on the RMB: This is the path you will want to take if you like to interact with people, build friendships, and run for seats in the Local Council, our gameside government. Our gameside discussions on the RMB range from fun banters to talks about real-life issues so there are a lot to do here!

• Become a Legislator: If you like hard politics and like to write laws or do work that makes the region better then you should join the forum-side government (Our equivalent of the federal/national government). Becoming a Legislator is the easiest and fastest way to get involved in politics as you can write, debate, vote on laws that govern our region, and vote for government officials, run for elections,...

• Work for the government: If you don't like politics but still want to help the region and gather experience working in a government then you can sign up for a job(s) at a Ministry about writing newspapers, welcoming and instructing newbies, organizing events and festivals, carrying out diplomacy with other regions, doing military operations,...

• Roleplaying: You can roleplay about wars, trades, or everything else about your nation with other nations on gameside using Nowhere or on our forum if you want things to be more formal. Roleplaying is awesome if you like writing, creating stories, and do not like the limits on creativity that issue answering imposes. Please read this dispatch on how and where to roleplay.

• Enlist in the Military: The South Pacific Special Forces is the region's small but elite military force that can carry out military operations such as invasions and defenses on other regions ranging from small scale for-fun to complex high-stake missions with our friends and allies. If you like something fast-paced and require strategic thinking, the military is where you want!

• Establish organizations, newspapers, make discussions,...: There is nearly no limit on what you can do in our region. You can create communities, newspapers, discussion groups, political parties,... in our region on gameside or on the forum to build more activity for the region and gain more experience for yourself.
  

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING?

You can know what is happening on gameside and forumside of our region by reading one of the following:

• Cabinet Twitters: These are short and concise updates from the Cabinet that show what they have done, what is the current status of the region's government,..

• <regularly published news service/.: This is our frequently published newspaper which summarizes everything that has happened in the region in the past month/weeks. The <> presents both news about politics, foreign affairs, regional affairs, gameside events,... and analysis/commentary on some special occasions.

• Private newspapers: These are private newspapers maintained by our citizens. They offer news that are independent and about more subjects than the above.

• Read the forum and the RMB: Don't like news? Reading the forum or the RMB by yourself is the best way to know what is happening without bias and in great details. Here is a guide on how to navigate the forum.

• Ask others: You can ask other players via the RMB, telegrams, or Discord to know more about various matters. It is recommended to ask senior members of the region and government officials if you want the best and most accurate answer.
