Declaration of the Rights of Sapients

Written by the National Council and Approved by President Ikuzmo Yatoma in response to international Proclamations.

1. Though most signed the Conventions on Humane Modern War, and follow international regulations to defend the natural rights of all intelligent beings, it has been shown that some do not follow these rules to protect the rights of all.

2. As a result of violations of the natural rights, we find it necessary to define natural rights as rights under the themes of life, liberty, equality, and sufferage.

3. These rights are universal for every sapient species, man-made or biological, and are naturally given regardless of gender, ethnicity, or class.

The following articles define the rights of all sapients and the responsibilities of all sapient intelligences.

Article I
All sapient beings hold the same rights, regardless of biological or social factors.

Article II
All sapient beings must be seen as equal before the law, and must receive equal economic possibilities.

Article III
The legitimacy of a government relies on both it’s defense of all natural rights for all, and it’s democratic nature. A government that fails at either fails to complete its purpose and it is the duty of everyone to reform or revolt against said governments.

Article IV
All sapient beings are to be treated equally under the law.

Article V
As punishment as a form of crime deterrence is inhumane and removes natural rights, prisons and corporal punishment are to be outlawed, replaced with facilities to provide help and care to law-breakers to turn them into productive members of society.

Article VI
Any and all nations should come to the defense of these rights both internally and externally.

Article VII
All religious worship and the lack thereof is to be allowed in all nations, all faiths are equal under the law and until they infringe on the rights of others, must be protected.

Article VIII
In the increasingly digital age, the rights to free access of information and anonymity must be protected at an international scale.
