Dawtania's Senatorial Campaign Manifesto (December 2018)

Hello comrades :) My name is Dawtania, and I am throwing my hat in the ring for this month's senatorial election. Although I am new to this region, I wish to become more involved in The Leftist Assembly, and I feel this is a good place to start. I have perused the Constitution and the code of laws and have found a few things I wish to add/amend. My proposals are the following:

Minister of Entertainment/Culture
If elected, I will propose an amendment to either the Minister Responsibilities Act or Article III of the Constitution creating a Minister of Entertainment/Culture. Their duties would be to organize regional events, conduct regional polls, etc.

Shortened terms
I will also propose shortening the length of General Assembly (GA) members’ terms from three months to two months, and have GA elections occur every other month. This will ensure that our government remains active, bring more fresh faces into the government, and require government officials to listen to residents’ demands more often.

Increased government transparency
Additionally, I will propose multiple measures to increase government transparency. For example, I will propose an amendment to the Legislature Conduct Act requiring all GA votes to be public. This will increase government transparency and make sure residents know where each GA member stands on the issues.

Amend process of removing GA members from office
I will introduce a constitutional amendment amending Article IV of the Constitution providing a method for GA members to be removed without the express support of two GA members. Instead, regular residents would be able to petition for a vote to remove a GA member.

Require that a regional poll be posted for all legislation proposals
I will propose that a poll be posted for each legislation proposal to see how much support a proposal has among residents. If more than 60% of residents oppose a proposal, the GA vote on the proposal will be stalled until opposition to the proposal drops below 60%, or the poll closes with more than 60% of residents opposing the proposal, in which case the proposal will be defeated. This will ensure that unpopular bills do not become law.
