Read this when you're feeling down

Erinor wrote:You're always welcome!

Hugs.

You are anything but horrid.

Erinor wrote:I could be reading you wrong thanks to the internet, but you sound depressed and I think you should talk to someone about whatever might be upsetting you. If that's someone here, through TGs or Discord, I'm happy to listen, but it would be better to speak to someone in RL if possible, especially as it may help to give technology a wider berth than usual.

In the meantime, you aren't worthless or horrible, however you might feel. Every human is uniquely valuable and this community wouldn't be the same without you in it. :)

It just has been so sad lately. I've always had an overly judging conscience, that guilt-trips me at least once a week with flashbacks of assorted mistakes I've done ever since my long-term memory was implemented. This, coupled with my emotional nature and high levels of introversion and social anxiety makes me very regretting of past actions that have caused offence or negative feelings towards other people, even minor ones. Furthermore, my father has been hospitalised recently which has caused some worry in my family. Negative interactions on NS have escalated as of late as well, making me feel like a bad person in each subsequent apathy or condemnation towards my comments, even if they come from disputable people. The suppression incident yesterday increased those emotions ten-fold, making the gloomy feeling stronger. I had a decent night's sleep, but the mood returned to its state when I felt guilty of not being helpful enough at home. All this just knocked me into the wall.

I appreciate any concern that you have shown me, despite the fact that I am just a stranger. (。•́‿•̀。)

Pencil Sharpeners 2 wrote:You're not a stranger; you're our friend and we care about you!
*Hugs*

Erinor wrote:Okay, I'm not a psychiatrist, but I have been reading up on anxiety and depression a lot recently and you definitely sound like you are suffering from depression with an added anxiety disorder, especially since you are being overly self-critical (the supression incident was exceedingly minor and, even if it hadn't been, it doesn't really matter). That's not just sadness, but a condition you can get help to recover from.

Based on what you're saying you might find the modules on this site about self-compassion (and many others besides) helpful (this was recommended to me by an NHS mental health professional):

Other than that, I hope your father feels better soon. I'll add him into my prayers.
