Etymology

Weeb Cult name originates in the land were it was founded, the north pacific region. The smittens who lived there named it after the ways food grew there, it is unknown what food though. The name Weeb Cult came into use after the Empire annexed it and had to find a way to communicate with them. The old Malay name for Weeb Cult, Web, was borrowed from a southern coastal Japanese dialect and encountered by Portuguese traders in Southeast Region who brought the word to Europe in the early 16th century. The first version of the name in English appears in books, which spelled the name as Web Cult in a translation of a Portuguese letter.
The standard way to refer to a citizen of Weeb Cult is as a "Smitten."

History

The beginning of weeb cult dates back to centuries, it was part of an bigger empire that conquered ant nation in its path. Bringing may lands under their rule, weeb cult was one of those colonies. The smittens were oppressed not being able to do daily activities like eating bread or driving cars. But despite this Weeb Cult became one of the most successful colonies with their economy consisting of chocolates and luxury good times. Since standards of living were increasing the life there was soon becoming better, the government controlling Weeb Cult saw the rising nation and decided to give the smittens more freedoms in life.

The Empire meanwhile had been silent and had not responded to their declaration. So Weeb Cult began consolidating power in the colony, taking back the goods factories once taken from them.

The Empire was fighting a civil war at the time Weeb Cult declared independence and was losing against its other colonies. The royal family of the Empires government had to decide on what to do if they loss. Most of the other colonies were either collapsing or at war with the Empire, expect one. The newly established government of Weeb Cult received a surprising message from the Empire stating that the Empires collapse was near and the royal family had to be evaluated to Weeb Cult. They welcomed the royals after being offered all the chocolates and food they had taken from them.

The people of Weeb Cult are very compassionate, with high standards of living. Having public services for almost anything, this has lead Weeb Cult to have one of the best healthcare services in the worlds. Weeb Cult has a population of 125.7 million, of which 123.2 million are Smitten nationals. A small population of foreign residents makes up the remainder. In 2019, 52% of the total Smitten population lived in rural areas.
