The Republic of
For thousands of years the Uroborosan people were isolated from the rest of the world by their impassable mountain ranges. Uroborosa developed a strong warrior culture, with many small clans holding dominion over areas of the country. The Mountain Gate, the only way into Uroborosa from the mainland, the one mountain trail passable by traders and armies, was always well-defended and never once fell despite attempts from the Romans and Mongols. War was infrequent, but always trained for, and the nation blossomed throughout the medieval period. However, during the Renaissance gunpowder was brought to bear, and for the first time in the history of our nation the Mountain Gate fell. Uroborosa was in the process of being conquered when a group of leaders from small tribes on the coast (now the site of our capital city) began uniting the clans under one banner. The locals merged into a great fighting force, fighting with guerilla warfare tactics in order to slow the progress of the invaders until our nation gained their same technological capabilities. Once at our capital the enemy was met with our own gunfire, and pushed back through the Gate. Such was how Uroborosa came to be, cementing our nation as one people with a proud democratic tradition while pushing us to begin our own intensive scientific research in order to keep up with the rest of the world. We began to advance, and push trade and culture beyond our borders, never by violence. Now Uroborosa stands as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with people coming from all over to visit our beautiful country. We also stand as one of the technological leaders, having learnt from our past mistakes and now always striving for excellence in research for our protection but also for the good of our people - to make life easier.
