Overview

Roendavar, officially The Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavari States (Roendavarian: i Iralarcath elea Verunael cia Roendavareil Thescalinen) is a nation located in the Gael Region on the Western Isles. It has a population of approximately 7.3 million as of 2018. The capital of the country is Dociara City, located in the middle of the country, and is considered as one of the oldest cities in the Western Isles. It is bordered by the nations of Dormill and Stiura to the east, the nation of Balnik to the south, and Alteran republics to the west.

Roendavar is a confederation of numerous political entities under the Union of the Roendavari Crown. Of these, the main four, known as the Thescalinen, include the Grand Duchy of Andavar, the largest and most populous state, mostly lies on the heavily forested Araventia Plains which dominates the center of the country and the Draculenea Mountains. Its Thronai is chosen via election of the people amongst Andavar's eight ducal families, known as the Helathcanen. The Alliance of the Mercantile City-States of Sudever, the second-largest, is located on the Valia Peninsula. Sudever is a collection of cities under the rule of the Mercantile Guild, known as the Stharoara, which is a democratically elected body. Its Thronai is elected amongst the Stharoara. It is separated from Andavar by Constantiara City, the state capital, and the Oriclos Canal. The Domain of Tillianan, the smallest state, is located in the south-westernmost of the country and is completely surrounded by the Great Lorason Forest. Its Thronai is elected and serves as the Ithoraugoros of Tillanora, the head of the Temple of Loras, the Nature God. The fourth state, the Republic of Vastaros, is located in the northeast bordering Dormill and Stiura. It fashions itself as a republic with its own democratically elected Thronai that serves one five to ten year terms. Aside from the four Thescalinen, numerous political entities called the Cornathen, are represented in the Roendavareil government. These include the two Free Communes of Laerath and Nelavathon, the Government of the Earth, the Human Council or the Afaril, the Arveimeion, and the People's Will.

Roendavar is considered to be one of the fathers of civilization in the east. The early kingdoms of Avathon, Speron, and Ilerius became the foundation of Roendavarian identity and influenced much of Roendavar's history even after they collapsed around 900 B.C.E. From the 8th century B.C.E., the ancient Davari people were organized into numerous city-states which dominated the lands of present-day Roendavar. The five of these city-states: Ariethos, Vartas, Thespos, Lerios, and Entarinth, dominated the Roendavarian lands and would eventually form the Thesara Alliance. After the War of the Vines and the collapse of the Thesara Alliance, Aragonus the Great united the city-states and established the Empire of Corinthus in the early two-hundredth century B.C.E. He would eventually conquer much of Gael, Argus, and the Eastern Seas, and through the empire's later years, expand further to establish cities as far as the Four Passages. The collapse of the empire in 523 C.E. created a power vacuum that fractured the territories of the empire, creating feudal kingdoms. The half-century-long War of the Roses soon began, with rivaling kingdoms vying for the leadership of the Davari people. In 1069, the Rose Kings allied with each other and defeated the Ivy Alliance, uniting the once warring kingdoms into the Empire of Daciara. The empire lasted until 1725 where the Empire once again fractured, this time into four independent political states: Andavar, Sudever, Vastaros, and Tillianan. The states declined in power throughout the century due to the Dandelion Revolution, which would eventually establish the two Communes of Laerath and Nelavathon, and continued unrest. Modern Roendavar was formed after the four states of Andavar, Sudever, Tillianan, and Vastaros, along with the numerous political entities in Roendavar, signed the Clover Treaty after the thirteenth Afaril, forming the modern nation of the Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavarian States. The Hemlock Revolution, fueled by the Great Gael War and headed by Arkhail Micheno, forced the monarchy into exile in 1911 and declared the Roendavarian Republic, committing massacres and purging dissidents. Arkhail was eventually overthrown in 1921 and the monarchy was reinstated. The subsequent larger Imperial War between 1945-(insert date) would solidify Roendavar's place in the international community despite its lagging economy and growing income inequality. The two Hyacinth Cries eventually resulted significant changes in Roendavarian society. At the beginning of the early 1990s, the economy started to boom and propelled the Roendavarian economy into one of the richest in the Western Isles.

Roendavar is a confederation of numerous states under a parliamentary system headed by a semi-absolute monarchy. The country is considered to be one of the most economically and socially developed countries in The Western Isles. Roendavarians enjoy a high standard of living and the country highly ranks in international standings on education, healthcare, protection of civil liberties, democratic governance, environmentalism, prosperity, and human development. The country ranks as having the world's highest social mobility, a high level of income equality, is among the countries with the lowest perceived levels of corruption in the world, one of the most developed in the world, has one of the world's highest per capita incomes, and one of the world's highest personal income tax rates.

Etymology

The full title of the country, the Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavarian States, comes from the Nascion, a defining piece of Roendavarian literature. In Chapter 1, the main character, Erenalus, describes a 'Utopian Kingdom' or Iralarcath as the goal of all people. Hence, the term was adopted to serve as an aspiration for the country to achieve what it has promised to do.

The name of the country, Roendavar, is a compound of two words, Roenar and Davaren. Roenar means peace in Roendavarian and it came from the Protacist Goddess of Peace and Time, Ranaria. Davaren is the Protacist God of Space and Reality. The two Gods are regarded highly in the Protacism and are often celebrated in the country.

Andavar, the largest state, was named after the Grand Duchy of Andavar. "Andavar" came from "An-davari", meaning "Those After the Davari" which connects the root of the Andavareil to the ancient Davari people who once ruled the Roendavarian lands during the City-State Period. Sudever is a shortened form of its complete name, the Mercantile Alliance of the City-States of Sudever. The principality's name was derived from the name of the Mercantile Alliance of the City-States of Sudever. Sudever, in turn, was named after Sudera, the God of Seafaring and Waves. Tillianan is named after the Protacist God of Medicine and Plants, Tillianor, which used to be the patron Protacist God of the ancient city-state of Entarinth. Vastaros was named after the Roendavarian word of "Vasarosti" meaning "beyond". It was named this way because the Davari believed that Vastaros was located at the edge of Athropolia, the land of the gods, and all lands beyond it belonged to the Valirien.

History

Prehistory and the Three Great Druidos Civilizations

The oldest human remains found in Roendavar were in the Viorath Cave System, which was dated to around 160,000 B.C.E. Roendavar is known as the birthplace of one of the advanced civilizations of the ancient era and is considered to be the cradle of civilization of the east. These early people were known as the Druidos. Around 3400 BCE, the Druidos eventually established loose agricultural communities that began to dominate the Roendavarian lands. These era was known as the Thirosi Period. During this period, significant scientific progress, the beginnings of an early language family, and the foundations of the modern Roendavarian society began to take shape. Around 3,000 BCE, three civilizations took shape in different parts of the Roendavarian lands.

The Kingdom of Avathon was the greatest and oldest of the three great Druidos Civlizations which lasted from 3,000 B.C.E. to 900 B.C.E. The Avathoni built the first city, which bore the same name as the kingdom, at the foot of Mount Maciesti in the Lacsandarieth Peninsula. The kingdom expanded around 2,300 B.C.E. and encompassed much of the Lacasandarieth Peninsula and established three other major cities: Thelmor, Feiler, and Gasciern. The Kingdom of Avathon would be the source of most of modern Roendavar's social values and traditions. Around 900 B.C.E., the volcano of Maciesti erupted, destroying the city of Avathon and wiped out the people that lived in it. The three cities of Thelmor, Felier, and Gasciern, managed to hold out, however, their population dwindled as they fled for better lands, eventually settling with the Darcalin and would create the foundations of the city-state of Ariethos.

The second great civilization, the Kingdom of Speron, was proclaimed on the Acranos Peninsula near present-day Speron around 2,300 B.C.E. According to the city's numerous records, the Avathoni Peulumenoth, Xelionus, incited a rebellion during a mission to fight the Varosti. Proclaiming independence, he stabbed his right eye and threw it on the ground, declaring the land to belong to him and the worthy few. The Kingdom of Speron would rival Avathon in dominance of the Roendavarian lands, matching its power and scientific progress. After the eruption of Maciesti, Speron was hit hard by famines. Speron broke its treaty with the Varosti people and launched an invasion of nearby lands but it was defeated and Speron would be plunged into a political crisis that would last until the kingdom's dissolution and the establishment of the city-state of Vartas.

The third great civilization, the Kingdom of Ilerius, was founded around 2,400 B.C.E. on the banks of the river Perlos inside the Thasmon Line. Contrary to Avathon and Speron, the Ileriusiel mostly kept to their own. Few visitors were allowed inside its borders, as such, very little information was known of it. Stories about Ilerius, which were mostly written by outsiders, described it as a "very free place", with social norms and traditions more libertarian than its counterparts. With the eruption of Maciesti and the subsequent famines, the Kingdom of Ilerius finally closed itself off to the outside world around 890 BCE. The following year, its populace mysteriously vanished, leaving behind an untouched and pristined ruined kingdom. Today, no one knows the reason as to the fall of Ilerius, with some speculating it was a case of mass hysteria and delirium.

The Early City State Era / Era of Germination

In 798 B.C.E., the Druidos atop Mount Athalymos, both Darcalin and Avathoni, elected the first Celion, Valirius Ianthrail Coenarthas, and established the first the city-state of Ariethos around the Tree of Ilamarius, which exists still to this day. It was built between the two lakes of Olemas and Lacus at the center of the Draculenea Mountains. Today, much of its architecture and ruins can still be found in Dociara, the capital of Roendavar. The City-State of Ariethos inherited culture from both Avathon and the Darcalin, incorporating both the proto-Roendavarian language and Protacism. It transformed into an economic, cultural, and political powerhouse not just in the Roendavarian lands, but also in the rest of Gael, with its influence stretching to the far corners of the world. Under the leadership of Valirius Ianthrail Coenarthas, the first of the Oriferostia, a series of expeditions across the world, was conducted, spreading Ariethosi culture and influence all throughout Gael. The Oriferostia also added to the immense knowledge that the Ariethosi held, recording and compiling them, leading the city-state to also become the center of science, knowledge, and innovation, pushing it forward faster than any earlier political entity within Gael. Ariethos would establish the Pilonas, the first university in The Western Isles, and the Thiscandion Library and Workshop, a massive complex dedicated to the pursuit of science.

City State of Ariethos

Vartas, the second city-state in the Roendavarian Isles, was established at the tip of the Viliornus Peninsula by Niles Alizenthron Ionarcavin after uniting the fractured Speroni. The city-state became the military powerhouse of the Roendavarian lands, owing to its militaristic experience from constant warfare with the Varosti. The first and second of the Varosti Wars would prove successful, propelling Vartas to dominate the eastern half of the Roendavarian lands, rivaling even the city-state of Ariethos. The Varosti Wars would also incorporate the Varosti as a permenant people of the Roendavarian lands and were welcomed as citizens in Vartas, the only city-state to do so.

In 698 B.C.E., a century after the first city-state of Ariethos was founded, then Celion Renaris Olarfiel Vanthroisil would die without an heir. This prompted the Ariethosi to transition into a elective monarchy and began toying with the ideas of democracy, the first state to do so. The first of the Celionen to be elected this way, Carlan Iriusil Threscanas, would introduce reforms to the city-state of Ariethos, incorporating the ideas of Nascion and forming the early foundations of a welfare system. This was opposed by the rich families of Ariethos, and their continued reluctance would anger the populace who demanded a fairer society, sparking the Thistle Revolt in 696 B.C.E. A denouncement of the reforms was released by the families, which drew the populace of Ariethos into a deep rage, sacking and looting the Filson District. The rich families were forced to flee Ariethos without their belongings and settle on the Aesilas Isthmus.

The third city-state, Thespos, was established in 696 B.C.E. by the rich noble families who fled Ariethos. The event would eventually be known as Lactariethos. Thespos, through its early years, grew significantly due to its ideal position in the Aesilas Isthmus. This did not go unnoticed and caught the attention of Ariethos, which at first refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of Thespos. As a sign of goodwill, Ariethos promised reparations to the families, and the funds would be used to build the foundations of the Oriclos Canal, one of the earliest in the Western Isles. The City-State of Thespos became a center of the production of pottery and other luxury goods, coupled with its massive port and ideal location, quickly became the center of trade in the Roendavarian Lands. Its wares were traded all across Gael, with Thesposi pottery being spotted in numerous countries all around the Western Isles.

The city-states of Lerios and Entarinth were founded at the same time in 673 B.C.E. during the journey of Valnarius Elenthrin Estapor. Tasked with expanding Ariethosi influence, Valnarius led settlers and diplomats to the southwest. When they reached the mouth of the Melis River, a Protacist Augorous named Anforius Casgerius claimed to have heard the call of the nature god Loras to the south, splitting the expedition into two. Those who stayed with Valnarius established the agriculturally rich city-state of Lerios at the mouth of Melis River. The city-state of Lerios was a monarchy and grew prosperous from the open flat plains that were eventually cultivated with crops of all kinds. Those who followed the call to the south, together with Anforius, crossed the Great Lorason Forest and established the city-state of Entarinth deep within the forests at the banks of the Heiras River, which became a center of medicine and religion for the city-States as it would eventually be the home of the Lorasalthacin, the Temple of the Nature God Loras, and the Oriclori, the Reader of the Future.

Numerous city-states would eventually be formed during the late 600s BCE, varying in size and political influence. These minor city-states were usually under the protection of one of the major city-states and would regularly form alliances depending on the need. The most well-known of these city-states was Larasthrai, which would become the center of sports and physical activities in the Roendavarian lands and would establish the Larasthril Games around 624 BCE, Another well-known city-state was Vinius, which would become known for its festivities and revelries. Other minor city-states include Narvis, Iolaereil, Harnath, and Theriolin. Collectively, the people of the city-states of the Roendavarian Islands were called the Davari, after the Protacist God of Reality and Space, Davaren.

The Classical City State Period / Era of Growth

The Formaliularos

The Davari City-States quickly grew to prominence, establishing its influence and spreading its culture throughout the known world. The city-states' wealth eventually attracted numerous people throughout the nearby lands, most notably the Ipachi. The Ipachi, discontent with their treatment, gathered and established their city-state at the mouth of the Faris River between Ariethos and Vartas named Renthorus in 588 B.C.E. Renthorus, despite being underdeveloped, had a larger population than Ariethos and Vartas combined as it attracted the nearby Varosti who dreamt of a city-state of their own. The threat was immediately recognized by Celion Finaeus Aianuril Prescilis of Ariethos and led the Ariethosi army to combat the threat. It would be known as the Renthoralciulon. The Battle of the Eulas Plains resulted in an Ariethosi defeat when the army was met with a massive Renthorusi force. The Ariethosi were overwhelmed and had to quickly retreat to Ariethos. With Ariethos suffering their first defeat and the threat going further than anyone had realized, Celion Finaeus Aianuril Prescilis of Ariethos, together with Celion Sorius Vioranth Renvithon of Vartas and Celion Trius Carlanicae Ovilius of Thespos, formed the Thesara Alliance. The combined forces of the Thesara Alliance razed the city-state of Renthorus to the ground, killing much of its population and forcing the remaining survivors to exile. Lerios would join the Thesara Alliance soon after.

A series of misfortunes and violence soon struck the Davari City-states. The first of these was the Crisis of Thespos in 476 B.C.E. when the city of Thelmor declared itself independent from Thesposi influence and establish its own city-state. A battle between Thespos and Thelmor resulted in the destruction of Thespos' port and a quarter of the city-state burning to the ground. The Crisis of Thespos would only end after the leader of the Thelmori, Feros Iolavin Nintheia, was killed conquering the last Druidos city, Gasciern. In 456 B.C.E., the Valcriosi Revolt in Entarinth would erupt after the Valcriosi, those who worship the God of Chaos, Valcrios, were expelled from the city. The Valcriosi would burn Entarinth to the ground and escape to the woods. As a consequence, Entarinth was forced to join the Thesara Alliance. A combined Davari army would crush the revolt in 450 B.C.E. after a series of battles within the caves of the Draculenea Mountains. The fourth and final Varosti War in 412 B.C.E. would result in the defeat of Vartas and its Celion executed by the Varosti. Meanwhile, Ariethos continued to grow, surpassing the power and wealth of the city-states combined experienced a boom in technological advancement, with the invention of the Heliosara Contraption in 388 B.C.E. and the perfection of siege weapons, along with significant strides in physics, geometry, etc.

The Thespos Plague in 296 B.C.E. would bring about the greatest decline to the powers of Vartas, Lerios, Thespos, and Entarinth. It would begin after merchants from Argus arrived in Thespos and exhibited symptoms of a disease today known as Typhus. It spread quickly throughout the Davari city-states. Ariethos, under the recommendation of scholars from the Pilonas, closed the borders and started improving hygiene in the city-state. Because of this, Ariethos would suffer minimally from the plague. The other city-states would succumb to the plague, losing as low as 18% to as high as 47% of their populations to the plague. Due to the severity of the plague, the Davari city-states would be caught off-guard by the sudden invasion of an Ipachi army in 273 B.C.E. as retribution for the destruction of Renthorus.

A combined Ipachi army of 100,000, along with a massive navy, landed on the shores of the Acranos Peninsula near Vartas. Vartas went on the defensive, with the first battle happening on the cliffs of Moscai. The Vartanil, under the leadership of Celion Sterius Ciluestheron Axailmen, strategically repelled the invaders by setting fire to the massive field of red lilies, which was sacred to the War God Alciul, earning the war its name. The Ipachi army split into two and another half sieged the Iundaionen, or the Long Walls of Ariethos. The Ipachi pillaged and looted the lands between Vartas and Ariethos, quickly conquering much of the land. With Ariethos and Vartas defending, the unguarded city-state of Thespos was attacked by the Ipachi, forcing the city's population to flee through the Great Lorason Forest. In 271 B.C.E., the combined forces of the Thesara Alliance launched a coordinated attack against the massive Ipachi army outside Ariethos. It was an overwhelming Davari victory and the Ipachi were forced back to their ships. The navies of the Thesara Alliance met with the Ipachi navy at the Battle of the Gulf of Docus, also known to the Ariethosi scholars as the Formaliularos. It was the largest naval battle in Ancient History. The War of the Flaming Lilies would end in 270 B.C.E. after the Ipachi defeat at the Gulf of Docus.

The Corinthusi Period / The Period of Bloom

In 232 B.C.E., Celion Theos Valcarius Reliason of Ariethos left his eight-year-old son Aragonus next in line for the throne. Disillusioned by the Ilestris Decree and Ariethosi dominance, when Aragonus turned 18, the Celionen of Vartas, Thespos, and Lerios ordered his assassination. During the festivities the night before his coronation, Aragonus defeated the assassins and presented their severed heads to the Celionen of Vartas, Thespos, and Lerios. The next day, he ascended the Ariethosi throne, and launched the War of the Vines in 232 B.C.E. The Battle of the Isthmus between Ariethos and the combined army of Lerios and Thespos resulted in an Ariethosi victory. Both city-states surrendered and were incorporated into the empire. In a separate move, Vartas besieged the city of Ariethos. In 231 B.C.E., the Ariethosi army charged the Vartasi army outside of Ariethos. With Aragonus leading the charge, the Vartasi were defeated. The subsequent invasion of Vartas ended the War of the Vines. Entarinth would also willingly surrender in the same year. Aragonus was crowned Athelaai Aragonus the Great by Ithoraugoros Ilanthe Vaelin Thermelis at the peak of Mount Athalymos, marking the beginning of one of the largest empires in The Western Isles.

Aragonus accepting the surrender of Vendriothos

The new Empire of Corinthus, under the leadership of Aragonus the Great, launched a series of invasions, named the Petal Expansions, of nearby lands. The First Petal Expansion saw much of Southern Gael and Central Argus submitting to the Corinthusi hegemony. The First Petal Expansion would also be one of the most violent when the Corinthusi army had to defeat several Ipachi nations in present-day Athara magarat. The Second Petal Expansion would see much of Gael conquered. The Third Petal Expansion resulted in the subjugation of Northern Argus and the Argaean Sea. The Fourth Petal Expansion, which was also the final one, would put the Eterna, Southern, and Kavju Seas under the Corinthusi Hegemony. At its peak after the Petal Expansions, it spread from [INSERT NATION] to the North, [INSERT NATION] to the South, and [INSERT NATION] to [INSERT NATION] from East to West, respectively. The invasions brought Corinthusi culture, as well as the religion of Protacism, to far lands. Aragonus returned to Ariethos and split the empire into six Thronus, independent administrative regions under the Empire of Corinthus: Athropolia (Roendavar), Formarinth (Eterna, Southern, and Kavju Seas), Loarien (Eastern Gael), Lorathunos (Western Gael), Vendriothos (Central Argus), and Dragalfien (Northern Argus and the Argaean Sea). Aragonus would also order the construction of a grand capital at the tip of the Valia Peninsula, calling it Aragonoth. Aragonus died in 181 B.C.E. of a slow fever that lasted six months.

Subsequent emperors further brought prosperity to the empire. After Aragonus died, the empire stopped expanding its borders in favor of improving its current holdings. In 165 B.C.E., the grand capital of Dociara, named after the Vampire King Docus, was finished. At its height, Dociara was one of the largest cities in the ancient world. Massive gardens, temple complexes, universities, theaters, and other buildings were constructed out of white marble mined throughout the Corinthusi Empire. Socially, the Empire of Corinthus instituted reforms and brought their culture with them. The Empire of Corinthus outlawed slavery throughout its holdings and pursued the policy of Nascion. The empire's policy shifted inward, strengthening its borders and securing trade routes to bring economic prosperity to the empire. Because of this, Davari culture took hold in much of Argus and Gael and is still prominent up to this day. This led to the Empire of Corinthus being the most powerful economic, cultural, political, and military force in the world of its time. The Davari legacy has deeply influenced civilization, shaping much of the modern world. Among the many legacies of Davari dominance are the widespread use of its architecture, polytheistic religion, and scientific advancements.

In 520 C.E., Mount Maciesti once again showed signs of an eruption. The current Corinthusi emperor at the time, Athelaai Iasmonos Naselias Virius, visited the city of Thasmon in order to help organize the evacuation and aid for the city. Out of nowhere, the volcano erupted with the force greater than the eruption that wiped out Avathon. The volcano fractured and burst open and, coupled with the severe rainstorm, sent fire, rock, and ash hurtling towards the city. The city of Thasmon, along with the emperor, was killed. It was also felt globally, resulting in the world-wide lowering of temperatures, which led to mass crop failures and famine. With the heir too young to ascend the throne, the Lathericia, an early parliament, imposed strict rationing throughout the empire. In the span of a year, the Empire weakened as citizens grew discontent over the famines and widespread economic failure. Anger would soon boil over and would spark the Daffodil Riots in 521 C.E.

The citizens of Aragonoth, led by the second heir Iuneii Alecsandros Theros Iralethias, overthrew the Lathericia and forced the newly crowned emperor Athelaai Venis Orelios Creionon to exile. However, despite the reforms, the empire faced several threats both inward and outward. Several of the Thronus, sensing the weakening of the Empire, allied with each other, and the empire fractured into independent alliances. The subsequent war would be called the Wisteria Wars in 523 C.E. and would spell the end of the empire. In Athropolia (Roendavar), the ducal families descended into infighting, starting the War of the Roses. Both Vendriothos (Central Argus) and Formarinth (Eterna, Southern, and Kavju Seas) waged a bloody war with the Empire of Corinthus. Despite the empire's victory, the Empire of Corinthus would be dissolved in 524 C.E. as the Corinthusi hegemony dimmed, leaving the empire's holdings without governance.

The Second Eruption of Maciesti and the Doom of Thelmor

The War of the Roses / The Thorns Period

The Night of Ergothoniendir

Under the rule of the Empire of Corinthus, the lands of Athropolia were split between eight ducal families: Ilonthria, Anieril, Vilerion, Thescamon, Naiselis, Desmethon, Eleias, and Ofestin. The Wisteria Wars would wane Corinthusi influence in Athropolia, and as a result, a struggle for power put the ducal families against each other. In 523 C.E., the Thronai of Athropolia, Thronai Alecia Senescil Thilias, called for a meeting between the ducal families in order to resolve the infighting. They gathered in Vilthein Manor at the first day of the Feast of Yralia. Unbeknownst to the Thronai and the other ducal families, the ducal families of Ilonthria, Anieria, Vilerion, and Ofestin had already formed the Ivy Alliance. According to stories, during the dinner, the duke of Ilonthria, Caliesti Vilanus Ianus Ilonthria, stood up and flung a blackberry at the Thronai. In Protacist mythology, the throwing of a blackberry symbolizes separation as the god of thunder and lightning, Precthin, divorced his wife Eina, the goddess of fruits, with the same act. Immediately, Ivy soldiers revealed themselves and killed the Caliesten of Thescamon, Naiselis, Desmothon, and Eleias. They tied the Thronai to her chair and ordered the remaining Corinthusi officials to stay in the room as they began to set fire to the manor. It would be known as the Night of Ergothoniendir.

With Athropolia's future uncertain, the eight ducal families declared their independence. When Alecsandros Theros Iralethias, now without a title, learned of this, he declared war on the eight ducal families and took control of Dociara, starting the War of the Roses. Immediately, Caliesti Averus Lecsemon Eleias submitted to Alecsandros and proclaimed him as the Golden Rose King. In return, Celion Averus was named the Black Rose King. Both of them would be the foundation of the Rose Kings. The Celion of Thescamon, Desmothon, and Naiselis soon joined the Rose Kings, earning the titles of the Green Rose King, Purple Rose King, and the Red Rose King respectively. Together, the Rose Kings would wage war on the Ivy Alliance for half a century.

Despite the proclamations of war by the Kingdoms, the first 2 centuries of the period spanning from 530 C.E. - 748 C.E. were relatively marked with peace. The kingdoms slowly regained their economies and even restored the former glory of the empire of Corinthus. In 748 C.E., resumptions of hostilities began with the Perlos River Incident when Vilerioni soldiers attacked Naiseli soldiers after crossing the river. Both armies responded with the continuation of war and met at the Battle of Perlos River which resulted in a stalemate. Much of the fighting was concentrated around the Ionicos Valley, Argierunth Forests, and Thrase Lake. The most notable of these battles was the Battle of the Oak where opposing forces fought in the dense Great Lorason Forest.

In 1067, then Celion of Daciara, Celion Ion Theilas Iralethias, together with the forces of the Rose Alliance launched a siege on the city of Ilonthria. Despite the Ivy Alliance's overwhelming forces and advantages, the Rose forces eventually broke through their defenses and seized the city. Ilonthria and Aniera would withdraw from the Ivy Alliance and surrender to the Rose Alliance. The kingdoms of Ofestin and Vilerion would continue to resist the Rose Alliance. Months after, Ofestin and Vilerion were defeated at the Battle of Mount Moscai. The remaining two kingdoms surrendered and their lands were split among the Rose Kings. In 1069, the Rose Kings gave up their crowns and proclaimed Celion Ion Theilas Iralethias as emperor of the new Empire of Daciara, uniting the Roendavarian Lands once more under a single crown.

The Empire of Daciara / The Rose Period

The era of the Empire of Daciara would be one of the greatest eras of the Roendavarian lands. During the reign of Athelaai Ion Theilas Iralethias, he embarked on several projects that revived the ancient architecture of the past Empire of Corinthus. He rebuilt the Great Navy and reestablished Davari dominance in mainland Gael. He died in 1102 from old age. During the rule of the second emperor, Athelaai Hectrus in 1124, the Thasmon Line was established, prohibiting human action beyond its confines. Today, the Thasmon Line still stands, preserving the environment within its borders.

Amfetros Ion I in Dociara

The reign of the seventeenth Empress of Daciara, Athelaai Eleina Thermonis Iralethias, would be known as the peak of the Empire of Daciara. Born in 1573, Athelaai Eleina assumed the throne when she was 13 years old. At a young age, she would dream of restoring the Corinthusi Empire. Known as the Emerald of the North, many would court her, although, none would succeed. She would exert Daciaran influence throughout the Western Isles either through diplomacy or war. She would also establish the Agents of the Rose, a network of spies and assassins that operate throughout the Western Isles that did espionage and assassinations of the empire's enemies.

1724-1787 BEING REWRITTEN

The Four States Period / The Wilting Period

1787-1800s BEING REWRITTEN

The beginning of the 1800s brought a lot of ideas to the four political states. The time between 1802-1873 would be known as the Drought, a series of events that would erode the peace and continue hostilities and unrest between the four Roendavarian states. The Dandelion Revolution, influenced by early ideas of Communism and Anarchism, spread throughout the four Thescalinen. The revolution would prove successful with their political victories against the four Thescalinen, eventually establishing the two Communes of Laerath and Nelavathon. The Peony Movement, revitalized by Vastarosi funding, brought violence to the three political states of Andavar, Sudever, and Tillianan for a decade. They were silenced and defeated after massive purges in 1821. The Drought pushed the independent political states to further chaos, and on May 18, 1873, the Mandrake Crisis erupted. There were widespread civil unrest throughout Roendavar and riots eventually managed to directly threaten the governments of the four Thescalinen. Despite the crackdown, fighting and looting continued for months. In response, the thirteenth Afaril was convened and it was decided by a unanimous vote that the only way for peace was to unite. Representatives from all the political entities in Roendavar signed the Clover Treaty, the Eternal Treaty, and Caliesti of Andavar, Alecsander Ithariel Iralethias, was proclaimed as the Celion of the new Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavarian States.

The Modern Period / The Faltharon Era

Roendavar joins the Great Gael War

The Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavarian States was proclaimed on January 11, 1874. The unification of the four rich Thescalinen, along with the numerous political entities of the Roendavarian lands, boosted the kingdom once again into one of the most significant countries in the region. Political unrest declined and peace started to returned to Roendavar once more. Immediately after the unification, Roendavar was involved in war once more, this time, in the Second Central Argus War and the War of the Khas-Kirat Succession. Significant advances in industry and trade propelled the country into becoming a major economic powerhouse in the early 1900s. The country was one of the leading countries in the Great Gael War, also known as the Third Central Argus War. In 1911, Roendavar was one of the first countries to declare war on the Triumvirate. The Roendavarian Navy blockaded the Blaxland Strait, the Argaean Sea, and the Kavju Sea.

Roendavar's role in the war would become more significant in 1913 when Arkhail Micheno, a Vastarosi revolutionary discontent with the monarchy's constant involvement in the war, published the Manifesto of the Forgotten, also called as the Thilmoros elea Ileinimen. Arkhail Micheno, sensing the growing backlash against the Roendavarian government, led a revolution outside the walls of Dociara City. The revolution would be known as the Hemlock Revolution. The rebels managed to defeat the Royal Guards and stormed the Palace of the Royals on March 17, 1913. The two princes, Cornelius Decebal and Nicu Leontius managed to escape to Ainslie along with the rest of the royal family except for the ruling king. Celion Lerius Yrenos Iralethias, along with the four Thronainil and sympathizers within the Roendavarian government, were arrested and beheaded using the guillotine. The short-lived Republic of Roendavar was declared on March 19, 1913, with Arkhail Micheno as its Crolon.

There were many atrocities under the leadership of Arkhail Micheno as a way to suppress counter-revolutionaries across the Roendavar. Sudever, Andavar, and Tillianan resisted the rule of Arkhail, turning to the Cricenxinosinil, or the cults of Protacism, to form rebel groups. One such cult was the Anthraxinon, followers of the God of Seafaring, Anthraxin. Members of the cult managed to assassinate Cristos Aresci, Arkhail Micheno’s closest friend and right-hand man in the government during festivities in Alexandros. In a fit of rage, Arkhail declared a purge, starting one of the bloodiest purges in history. Around a million were killed either by the government forces or disease from tight prison camps. The war, coupled with violent treatment and constant purging of political enemies in Roendavar, inflicted a heavy blow on the country. By the end of 1923, only 6.1 million people were left.

On November 1, 1923, during the Festival of the Death God Vladiros, the Vladironthis, a bomb exploded at the stage where Arkhail Micheno was seated. Arkhail survived, however, the crowd erupted into riots, attacking the soldiers. The Velvet Cry swung into full force across several cities in Roendavar. There was constant fighting in the streets as government buildings were set on fire and pillaged. Arkhail and loyalist forces barricaded themselves in the High Council Building. When news of the Velvet Cry reached the royal family, they immediately returned to Roendavar. On November 7, the crowd successfully stormed the High Council Building. Arkhail Micheno was dragged through the streets and was found guilty of crimes against humanity. He was executed by being impaled with deer horns. The Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavarian States was reinstated on November 8, 1923. The kingdom also withdrew from the Great Gael War at the same time.

Revolutionaries during the Second Hyacinth Cry

Peace would not last as the first Imperial War forced Roendavar to once again reconsider participating in war. As countries nearby swore allegiance to the Neo-Imperialists, the Roendavarian government saw it as a threat to Roendavarian independence. At the spark of the first Imperial War in 1941, Roendavar declared neutrality, a guise concocted by the Roendavarian government. In secret, Roendavar used the Agents of the Rose to conduct sabotage and espionage missions in Neo-Imperalist countries. On the other hand, Roendavar secretly helped the Free Powers, offering food and medicine disguised as 'humanitarian relief'. This would not last as increasing tensions between Roendavar and the Neo-Imperialsts would continue to boil throughout the war. Roendavar would officially declare war on the Neo-Imperialists on July 16, 1945, and would side with the Free Powers.

Roendavar slowly started to rebuild itself after the end of the first Imperial War. As a response to the Manifesto of the Forgotten, and to forget the atrocities of war and revolution, the Roendavarian Army was abolished in 1958. The nation slowly shifted to a more pacifist stance with the same progressive values it has maintained throughout its history. Around the early 1960s, due to liberal economic policies instated by the international community, there was a significant income gap between the rich and poor in Roendavar. Before it could be solved, however, Celion Cornelius Decebal Iralethias died on August 13, 1969. The Peony Movement took advantage of the Treiorevicos and launched several terrorist attacks across Roendavar. The 1969 Treiorevicos killed around 1,278 people. This period of unrest would continue until the December of 1969 and Athriticus Ivarius Iralethias was crowned Celion.

The coronation of a younger king emboldened the populace. This would lead to the first of the Hyacinth Cries. On July 14, 1973, students from the Royal University of Roendavar infiltrated the radio stations all across the country and broadcasted a message to address injustices in society. They instigated rallies in the streets of Dociara and demanded an audience with the king. Celion Athriticus opened the doors of the Palace of the Royals to the students and began a series of talks. This would lead to the establishment of the strong welfare policies the country still has today. The Gael Economic Crisis, along with concerns regarding the environment, in the 1980s decimated the economy of Roendavar. The country was forced to enact austerity measures and the previous welfare policies were almost abolished. Around 2 million Roendavarians marched to Dociara, starting the second Hyacinth Cry on November 2, 1989. Roendavarians clamored for a new economic, political, and cultural system, one that was based on Roendavarian identity. Because of this, Celion Athriticus foregone liberal policies and restructured Roendavar into a new state, one that was based on Nascion.

The period between the 1990s and the early 2000s was known as the Blooming Decade as Roendavar rebounded from its economic troubles. Policies instated in the aftermath of the Second Hyacinth Cry transformed Roendavar into a rich and diverse state. The country restored its status as one of the most peaceful countries. Celion Athriticus died on November 25, 2018. He was replaced by his son, Celion Faunus Eleos Caenalren Irelthias.

Geography

Draculenea Mountains near Vernial

Roendavar is located in Western Gael facing the Argean Sea. The country is mountainous as the Draculenea Mountains dominate the Roendavarian landscape, stretching from the tip of the Valia Peninsula and eventually joining with the mountain ranges of Gael in the mainland. The tallest mountain in Roendavar is located deep within the mountain ranges of Gael, Mount Athalymos, which is also believed by the Roendavarians to be the home of the gods, Athropolia. The country's second tallest mountain, Mount Velesthys, is located 5 kilometers from Mount Athalymos. Roendavar's land area is comprised of 75% mountains with wide and hilly plains that can be found in the middle of the country in Andavar, much of Vastaros, and the coastlines of Valia Peninsula.

Roendavar is geologically active with numerous volcanoes dotting the western coastline of the country. The most notable is Maciesti Volcano, the tallest volcano in Roendavar and is responsible for two of the strongest eruptions in history, destroying parts of Valia Peninsula, wiping out the Kingdom of Avathon, and to an extent, the Druidos Civilization, and the trigger that would start the descent of the Empire of Corinthus. Other volcanoes include Mount Hesfeschil and Mount Rexilis, which are both located in Sudever.

The country has the most amount of rivers in the continent of Gael, with 7 large rivers and 21 minor rivers scattered throughout the country. The largest and longest of the rivers, the River Perlos, stretches deep within the Great Lorason Forest and Draculenea Mountains, joins with the Olemas Lake, crosses Andavar and Vastaros, and eventually emptying in the Argean Sea while forming one of the largest river deltas in the region, the Valcisiath Delta, where the city of Manzhesta lies. Meanwhile, marshes dominate Southern Tillianan, creating the Alimeni Gap where all roads and rails cut off due to its dense forests, regularly flooded ground, and inhospitable conditions.

One of the defining features of Roendavar is the Thasmon Line, a boundary stretching diagonally from the Alimeni Gap to the Orvesti Gap. The Thasmon Line serves as a boundary that splits Roendavar into two parts, where human activity is allowed, called the Filcesiara, and where human activity is illegal and not monitored, called the Lorathelciara. Because of this, tens of thousands of square meters of forest and wildlife remain untouched for centuries. The only signs of human activity within the Thasmon Line are the Athropolis Road, a stone highway traversing from Dociara City to Mount Athalymos, and the Acorn Defense Network.

Roendavar's northernmost point is Northus' Dagger, a small peninsula in the northern portion of the city of Alevandros in Sudever. The southernmost point is Sorius Rock located deep within the Alimeni Gap. The westernmost point is Westrie's Pillar, a pillar of volcanic rock located in the western part of Amesti Island and is believed to be the edge of Athropolia. The easternmost point is Eikos Rock in the eastern part of the Great Lorason Forest beyond the Thasmon Line and is one of the few defining features of the Dormill and Stiura-Roendavar border.

Roendavar has one of the largest undisturbed forests in the world, the Great Lorason Forest, which covers 82% of the country's land area. Around 78% of the forest is protected land. It stretches from the Draculenea Mountains beyond the Thasmon Line and eventually spreads throughout the country. Some 3,700 plant species have been identified in the country, from which to date 23 have been declared natural monuments. The second-largest forest in Roendavar, the Valaeus Forest, comprises most of the northern part of the Valia Peninsula and contains the ruins of Aragonoth within it.

Climate

Roendavar has a continental climate, characterized by mild winters, with mean temperatures in January of 1.5 °C (34.7 °F), and cool summers, with a mean temperature in August of 17.2 °C (63.0 °F). The most extreme temperatures recorded in Roendavar, since 1821 when recordings began, was 36.4 °C (97.5 °F) in 1975 and −31.2 °C (−24.2 °F) in 1982. Roendavar has an average of 179 days per year with precipitation, on average receiving a total of 765 millimeters (30 in) per year; autumn is the wettest season and spring the driest. The position between a continent and an ocean means that weather often changes.

Due to the country's geographic position, despite its latitude, it has a more temperate climate than other northern countries. This is due to warm air that enters its western side, resulting in heavy precipitation that gets lower the further east it gets. This phenomenon is what gives the country its numerous rivers and vast forests, as well as good agricultural land.

Environment

Entrance to the Valaathloraith in Lantis

The country has historically and consistently adopted a progressive stance on environmental preservation. This was due to their natural affinity to the environment and the influence of the ancient religion of Protacism. To mitigate environmental damage, the country imposes strict regulations on industry, urban development, agriculture, and many others. The country has one of the toughest environmental laws in The Western Isles. Despite the tough environmental laws, Roendavar's ecological footprint is higher than most countries at 4.2 gha/person. However, the country also ranks high on environmental tables. This is because of the extensive measures the country employs to regulate its demands. The country also maintains a carbon tax on all human activities, thus, limiting the environmental damage of Roendavar's continued growth.

Roendavar has the highest percentage of nature parks to territory with almost 77% of the total land area of the country. The two largest of these, the Geat Lorason Forest, which covers most of the country, to the Lacsandarieth Peninsula Nature Reserve, which includes much of the Lacsandarieth's interior, occupy arround 45% of the country. The high amount of nature parks restrict development in the country, still, the country is finding ways how to incorporate development with the environment. Ethona District in Seonlil is being developed as the first "floating" settlement with most of the people living and working in treehouses located high above the forest canopies. Because of this, Roendavar has one of the highest percentages of the population living in urban areas.

The Thasmon Line, a boundary defined by the Lavinian Amendment of the Lorathreilin Decree of 1126 as "a line strectching from the fork of Liestis... to the banks of the Stenon River, is one of the only places in the Western Isles that strictly prohibits human activity, even entering. It was a culmination of treaties delineating Roenavar's boundaries as well as the protection of native and indigenous species susceptible to modern diseases within the boundary. Today, it is one of the largest and most protected nature reserves in the Western Isles.

Demographics

The population of Roendavar is at 7,309,934 according to the Roendavarian Ministry of Humans in 2018. The median age is 24, with 1.97 males per female. Roendavar's population is ranked as one of the happiest in the world.

Roendavar is a homogenous nation despite local attitudes. However, because of its open and pacifist policies, immigrants have begun to compromise a significant part of the population. Most of the immigrants come from nearby Gael countries such as Balnik, Ainslie, and Aruia. There are also significant percentages from Athara magarat and other nations near Roendavar. The Roendavarians are regarded to be the only ethnic race that lived in the lands for thousands of years. As such, their physical features are different from their mainland and neighboring people. As for foreign ethnic groups, the Ipachi comprises of 33% of the non-Roendavarian population while Aprosians comprise around 31%.

Language

The national language of Roendavar is Roendavarian, also known Calaathrendil. It is spoken by a majority of the population and is the default language in everyday life in Roendavar. Roendavarian, in its modern form, is one of many languages under the Roendavarian language family. The modern form of Roendavarian has its roots on the standardized language enforced by the Empire of Corinthus in 120 B.C.E., making it one of the oldest languages in the Western Isles. Roendavarian has one of the strictest lingustic rules in the Western Isles, with the Starlasthin Symposium meeting every year to translate new words into Roendavarian, and the Ilesthrin Decree which requires all foreign publication and media to be translated into Roendavarian before being available to the public.

Roendavar used to have its own script called the Branch Script because it resembled branches and leaves. The country eventually switched to the Latin Alphabet after unifying in order to promote trade with its neighboring countries. Today, there is a high clamor for the return of the Branch Script. Numerous signs, websites, and documents already use the Branch Script and the country plans to make it the national script is on the talks with the High Council.

The other two official languages of Roendavar are English and Vandrarn. English was adopted as an official language and a second language after the unification of the country in order to enter international markets. Vandrarn, on the other hand, is one of the many languages under the Roendavarian language family. It is classified as critically endangered and is mostly spoken in Vastaros. Today, English and Vadrarn is taught in school. Ahnslen, the language used by Roendavar's biggest ally and trading partner, remains a major elective subject in high school in universities.

Roendavar is a secular state, and such, a majority of the population classifies as non-religious. 51% of the population identifies itself as Atheist. 45% of the population identifies as Protacism. The remaining 3% is composed of Islam and other religions.

Protacism is the largest religion in Roendavar, comprising about 45% of the Roendavarian population. It is an ancient religion created by the Druidos, dating back to the Kingdom of Avathon. It is a collection of legends, myths, and stories. Despite its age, Protacism remains a major religion in Roendavar due to its connections in the Roendavarian identity. Festivals, names, and even the language have Protacist influences within them. It is composed of three sects: Secular, Conservative, and Unorthodox. Secular Protacism is the largest of the sects and it focuses on a more modern following of Protacism. Most Atheists in Roendavar even consider themselves under Secular Protacism, around 28% of the total Atheist population. Conservative Protacism preserves the rituals and procedures from ancient times and is the second-largest sect. Unorthodox Protacism is an umbrella term for the Protacist cults that exist within the country. They have a more radical view on Protacism and are often secret organizations that exist underground.

Government

The High Council in Dociara

The Government of Roendavar is a complex system. It is a Confederation under a Parliamentary Semi-Absolute Monarchy. The government is split into three branches: the Executive, the Legislative, and the Judiciary. The Executive is headed by the Celion, or Monarch, and the four Thronainil, representing the four Roendavarian Thescalinen: Andavar, Sudever, Vastaros, and Tillianan. The current royal family of the country is the Iralethias which traces its roots to the Golden Rose King Celion Ion Theilas Iralethias as far as 1069. The succession of the royal title is by choice of the monarch. The monarch shares power with the Thronainil, elected representatives of the four Roendavarian states of Andavar, Sudever, Vastaros, and Tillianan. They are elected in accordance with their respective political systems.

Much of the country's Legislative powers lie in the hands of the Asaalientiri, also known as the High Council. The High Council is comprised of 70 representatives shared among the four states of Roendavar. Of this, Andavar gets 21, Vastaros gets 19, Sudever gets 17, and Tillianan gets 13. Representatives are chosen respective to representative parties with regard to their total votes. Since the foundation of the modern Roendavarian state, the High Council has consistently been ruled by the Green Coalition, which is regarded as progressive leftist.

Local administration is split between state and local. Each Roendavarian state gets its own Council, headed by their Thronai. The Laslienitri is responsible for state administration and policy. State Councils are split into two: the High and the Low. The High State Council is appointed by the Thronai and is responsible for executive administration. The Low State Council, made up of 17 representatives, is elected by popular vote. They are responsible for local legislation and directives.

There are several separate ruling entities that exist in Roendavar besides the state government. These are the Human Council or the Afaril, the Council of Earth, and the two Communes of Laerath and Nelavathon, the Arveimeion, and the People's Will. They are known in Roendavar as the Aelmonlienitri, Maralienitri, and the Nascolon Theschilain respectively. The Human Council or the Afaril, is a special council under the jurisdiction of the monarchy, however, acts independently. They are mostly responsible for the affairs of the Crown while maintaining the stability of the Roendavarian state. The Council of Earth is a separate government in Roendavar representing the environment, which includes the flora and fauna. It is responsible for 'representing nature', a task which has been blurry ever since its conception. The Communes of Laerath and Nelavathon are two communes located on the Heiras River and the middle of the Lacsandarieth Peninsula respectively. They style themselves in accordance to the principles of Anarcho-Communism and are without official leaders. The Arveimeion, or the 13 vessels, are a group of 13 entities that are regarded as vessels for the 13 Arveim. They have immense political influence in Roendavar and are usually located in high positions. The most well-known of the Arveimeion is the Arveimeion of Iralia, which is the current reigning monarch of Roendavar. These political entities, along with several groups in Roendavar, convene at the Hall of the People in Dociara, which represent the People's Will, a separate political entity.

Foreign Relations and Military

Roendavar pursues a pacifist stance as per the Thorian Decree of 1958. Because of this, the country does not have an active military force. Much of the defense of the country is reliant on the Agents of the Rose, also known as the HEI. It is a secretive spy agency under the direct control of the monarchy and the Roendavarian government and is one of the largest espionage operations in The Western Isles. It is responsible not only for espionage, but for counterterrorism, civil crimes, safety concerns, research and development, and the maintenance of Operation Acorn, a series of defensive systems and bunkers throughout Roendavar. A small elite force, known as the Roendavarian Royal Guard, serves as the personal defense of the Union and is comprised of 208 personnel as of 2019.

Roendavar is a supporter of international peacekeeping. It is vocal in many international organizations, most notably, the Gael Four and the League. The country cannot join any wars, which is why they enter conflicts under the reasons for peacekeeping and relief for those affected. The country is one of the largest providers of international aid. It is home to two government-owned peace forces and numerous non-governmental organizations aimed at preserving peace.

Economy

Roendavarian Caviar

The Roendavarian economy has a developed mixed economy and is classified as high-income. This is due to liberal and social policies enacted during the first and second Hyacinth Cries. It ranks highest in gross national income (PPP) per capita and in nominal GNI per capita in the Western Isles. It is also one of the most competitive countries in the world and is considered as having a free economy. The country’s egalitarian values have made it into one of the most equal countries in the Western Isles in terms of economic and wage equality.

Roendavar has long been diverse in its economy. It engaged in several economic sectors to bolster its economy throughout the country's history and it stays true to this day. 15% of the country's economy is reliant on agriculture. Much of the country's agricultural land is located in Andavar, Sudever, and Tillianan while orchards are found in all four states. Roendavar is also a leading producer in seaweed. Seaweed farming has been attractive to Roendavarians and numerous farms have sprung up in Sudever. The raising of livestock such as pig, chicken, cows, and other animals is limited in Roendavar due to strict environmental laws, and thus, it relies on imports for meat. However, fish is an exception as Roendavar is one of the leading producers of fish, most notably, salmon and tuna.

Industry and Manufacturing make up 21% of the Roendavarian economy. The largest of these comes from the pharmaceutical industry. Companies such as Verafen account for 3.7% of the country's total GDP and are a significant player in the economic landscape of Roendavar. Another notable industry in Roendavar is its paper and wood. Others sectors in services include sea transport, public transportation, healthcare, education, and other services.

Roendavar is known for its artisan goods market. These include cheese, wine, fashion, jewelry, and caviar. Strict laws concerning the raising of cows have dwindled their population and limited farmers from producing more. Thus, most cows are relegated to cheese making, and Roendavar has become one of the well-known places for cheese. Both the Methron and Ilethon types of cheeses are the most expensive artisan cheeses in the world and are exported in limited quantities. Wine is a major export of Roendavar and is mainly produced in select companies in Roendavar. Roendavarian wine could cost up to thousands of dollars for a single bottle. Vineyards and orchards are scattered throughout the country and make up a significant portion of the country's agricultural sector. Roendavar is known as one of the fashion centers of the Western Isles and large fashion companies are based in Dociara. Roendavarian caviar is, perhaps, the country's most recognizable export. Roendavar is one of the most active countries in the pursuit of science. Today, it is involved in numerous high-profile scientific researches in The Western Isles, most of it concentrated on environmental science. Roendavar is one of the leading countries in life and environmental science. The Roendavar-based The Western Isles Environmental Research and Conservatory (TWI-ERC), or i Ialthieforinil Lorasthiril Althora then Aefulintharios, oversees the environment around the world and works with various governments and NGOs to help and protect the biosphere. It is also responsible for the study of animals and plants and is the leading authority in wildlife preservation. It has many satellite offices around The Western Isles and works closely with other environmental agencies and groups.

Much of the country's energy is reliant on renewable energy. Most of the country's renewable energy is from wind power, contributing almost 84% to the country's overall production of electricity. The largest of these wind farms, the Athmenos Eiros Wind Farm, is located in Silcea City and supplies almost 75% of Sudever’s electricity needs. Solar power is also favored in Roendavar and is mostly installed in individual homes and residences. There are only three solar farms in Roendavar, two of which are located in Andavar. The country also uses geothermal energy, specifically in Sudever near the Maciesti Volcano. Hydrothermal energy is not suitable in Roendavar and is not favored by the government due to its effects on the overall landscape and environment. The country's second-largest producer of energy is nuclear power, which serves the state of Vastaros and Andavar. Coal and Oil power plants have long been discontinued in Roendavar as per the amendments to the Amended Electricity Production Law of 2000.

Culture

Marian Erethinos Mirascu

Due to its strong cultural identity, Roendavar has maintained a culture separate from its neighbors and retained it through the centuries. Roendavarians think and operate on a system they call "Nascion". It does not have a direct translation but it has a significant impact on Roendavar's very identity. Nascion is a set of ideologies and philosophies that emphasize equality, environmentalism, progressivism, and libertarianism. It has been described as a form of green socialism. The Nascion, which was written by the Ariethosi Philosopher Carathriel Andaelarin Viegarath during the foundation of Ariethos, has then become a foundation of Roendavarian society. Roendavar's largest political party and head of the majority coalition, the Nascion Party, have essentially remained in power for 2 centuries. Through this, Roendavar has always been one of the most progressive countries in the world. It did not partake in slavery at any point during its history, acknowledged the difference between sex and gender, and adopted a secular policy even during the Era of the Roendavarian City-States. It has legalized homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia, drug use, assisted suicide, pornography, prostitution, gender-neutral marriage, and divorce among many others. This has earned the country's title amongst the international community as the "Sin of the North", especially when describing the capital city of Dociara. Social equality is a relevant part of Roendavarian culture.

In international terms, some may describe Roendavar as "conservatively progressive". The country's progressiveness and libertarian attitudes are an effect of its long-standing culture and history that has persisted uniquely amongs its neighbors throughout millennia. Afathracai is a term that has become synonym with Roendavarian attitude. Loosely, it means "to exude elegance and grace and to hide your evil". Roendavarians have been taught that there is a time for emotions, and one must know how to quickly switch between these two states. This concept has been the main reason of the concept of "above, below" in Roendavarian society, especially in the city of Dociara. Roendavar, along with its citizens, maintain an image of itself that is most appealing while hiding its deepest desires and emotions underneath. Roendavarian festivals and the Underground most know this word as it heralds a time of unbounded revelry and ecstacy, with most unspeakable acts being done once this word is uttered. Although overexaggerated throughout the years, it remains to this day and is one of the reasons why foreigners visit the country. This concept also defines Roendavarian traits, which is best descrived as "chaotically graceful". Roendavarians are well-spoken, elegant, and idealistic, however, they are also described as snobbish, haughty, and dramatic.

The country is well-known for its contributions to art and literature. The mythologies of Protacism and the epics written during the Era of the City-States are recognized around the world. Most notable of these epics were the Prosad, a story of the Elven King Anarien, and his adventures throughout Erinia. The short stories of Cristian Aegiscilus Thielron, the philosophical essays of Marian Erethinos Mirascu, and Ylena Firia Ionuci, the plays of Gabriel Oneus Nastracos, and the poetries of Nicolos Orestros Thaegon and Alexandrina Zhesteron are also well-known and play a significant role in Roendavarian culture.

Roendavar is recognized for its music and cinema. The country's national anthem, The Life God's Lament, is a classical piece lasting for around 2 hours and 24 minutes that describes the aspirations of Roendavar and the history of its founding. A shorter, sung version is performed as the original version is only played during special events. The country is known for its orchestral complex music that is mostly centered around different instruments. Roendavar also engages in modern music and is known for artists such as Lucas Hierthon Verticus. Roendavarian cinema is regarded as an important part of Roendavarian culture, and thus, the government subsidizes the creation of original films. Plays, musicals, and opera are still popular in Roendavar and are also fully subsidized by the government, making it free for the public to watch and are usually opulent affairs in Roendavar. The boom of the entertainment industry in Roendavar have also given rise to the video-game industry.

A significant feature of Roendavarian culture is its connection to its ancient religion of Protacism. Despite the country's secular policies, Protacism is deeply rooted in the very identity of Roendavar. An example of these is the numerous festivals that are celebrated throughout Roendavar at different points of the year. There are ten Protacist Festivals celebrated in a year and all of them are regarded as important days to Roendavarians regardless of their religion. The Roendavarian monarchs, the very rulers of Roendavar, claim their descent from the Life God Iralia, however, in present times, this is only regarded as a myth but is still a treasured notion in the country. Life and death are two ideas hold in high regard in Roendavar. Roendavar's two patron gods, Iralia and Vladiras, are the God of Life and the God of Death respectively. As such, life and death are highly celebrated and carry a huge weight in Roendavarian consciousness. In death, Roendavarians believe that your essence becomes a part of everyone and everything. Almost all Roendavarians choose a natural burial, buried under a sapling that will eventually grow into a tree and absorb the decomposing corpse. This fulfills the belief that you become one with the world. Because of this, valdicaloralae, or "forest graveyards", are widespread in Roendavar. The largest of these, the Vladacantheron, located in Vladivesti City, is home to almost thirty-five thousand individual trees that hold the corpses of humans.
