Violence, weapons, community

People hurt others sometimes, but these issues are dealt with within the community most frequently. External threats aren't an issue because the surrounding geography is peaceful and cooperative. Weapons are infrequently used and generally disliked, but the populace understands the need to defend itself and so focuses on confounding adversaries with lengthy debates. In extreme cases, the friendly pirates offshore willingly lend a hand in the fight against outside forces. This is very infrequently an issue, however.
