Lucedeia

Lucedeia, or the Syncretic Union of Lucedeia, is a country in North Osea. Lucedeia is bordered by the Exalted Tsardom of Omaskar to the north, the Commonwealth of Otaevieo to the west, the Republic of Kuznetov to the south. Its capital and largest city is Kushana.

The Sakanese form the largest ethnic group of the country's twenty eight million people, followed by significant populations of Yerogurs, Savlaqhs, Dardins, and others. Tokhari is the sole official language, although minority languages are recognized by the country's constitution.

Lucedeia's history spans a variety of cultures and nations. Strategically located, Lucedeia has been at the crossroads of many great civilizations as part of the ancient fur and silk trade routes along with other commercial maritime routes. Inhabited by a succession of tribes, city states, and petty kingdoms, Lucedeia was both politically and culturally divided for much of its history. It was first established as the Shulian-Dardin city states during the early 5th century AE, and later followed by many Sakanese principalities. During the early 10th century the Yerogurs arrived from the north and formed a joint Yerogur-Sakanese kingdom. Lucedeia was conquered by the Joghundais briefly during the early 13th century; it later went through a period of anarchy known as the Warring Khanates Period, until the First Lucedeian Khanate was formed in 1385 AE. After the fall of the Commonwealth of Savlaqha, its vassal, the Voivodeship of Volchova was annexed and became an integral part of Second Lucedeian Khanate. In the early 1800s, the Khanate was abolished and the Lucedeian Empire was formed, and in 1922 AE the Socialist People's Republic of Lucedeia was formed after the Empire was overthrown during the Red Falx Rebellion. In 1991 AE the Khanate was restored after the peaceful Lotus Revolution.

After the restoration of the Khanate, Lucedeia was officially a constitutional monarchy, and after a series of democratic reforms in 2020 it became a unitary parliamentary republic and the khanate was overthrown again. During that period, it gradually developed an executive president and was governed as a semi-presidential republic before becoming a full presidential republic in 2022. Throughout its existence, the country has continued to endure transitional governments, political conflicts, and shifting of alliances.

Lucedeia is a member of the Orginization of Neutral Nations, and was a member of Hotel Lala, later it joined OSEAN, and then Pax Havenica, it joined ICPJ briefly before suspending its membership. It is a developing country with a medium-high Human Development Index. The country's transitional economy is heavily dependent on extracting raw materials such as, uranium, petrol, copper, gold, timber, fish, furs, leather, and others.

Etymology

Luced is derived from the Old Tokhari word for "Crossroad", believed to refer to the constant influx of various people and cultures and the region's centre position in the ancient trade routes. -eia is a suffix in Old Kashari meaning "place of".
