United Deiliog Army

Ensign

Pictured here, the ensign of the United Deiliog Army (UDA) captures the collective contributions of the three tribes to the defense and preservation of Deiliog. The field of green signifies the land and territory of Deiliog, collectively defended by the three tribes. Three separate swords unified under one shield symbolize the common purpose and aspiration of three formerly divided armed forces.

The three snakes at the base of the escutcheon, also correlated to the three tribes, refer to a long-standing traditional association between the snake and strategic warfare. Given the nature of Deiliog's terrain and the technological limitations inherent to a prior age, guerilla warfare became the standard method of engagement between tribes or rival factions relatively early in Deiliog's history. As such, the snake quickly rose as a metaphorical example of military strategy: concealing itself among roots and undergrowth while awaiting the ideal moment for a critical strike.

The tree, which dominates the escutcheon, is representative not only of the vegetation which continues to dominate the land, serving as cover for fighters as well as literal snakes, but also of the army's ability to cover and shelter Deiliogan territory from threats.
