The Great and Free Land of Ambrella

Hundreds of years ago, a man named David Dinklefink migrated with his family to a new land, east of the continent to the south of the Motherland, where he saw the opportunity to manufacture inexpensive umbrellas and market them abroad. He encouraged family, friends, and neighbors to make the move with him, promising riches. A small community formed, founding what would become the Capital city, Unionville d'Ambrella. The name was intended to be "Unionville d'Umbrella," but due to an unfortunate typo by the city's founder on the paperwork, the name "Ambrella" has been solidified in history.

The community grew, and the umbrellas of Ambrella became known throughout NationStates as true, quality umbrellas. As the population grew and spread out, a central government was formed in Unionville d'Ambrella, with the first elections being dominated by Dustin Dinklefink ,the CEO of Ambrella Umbrellas, grandson of David Dinklefink. He had a large part in installing the Constitution of Ambrella, centered around the values of Allerb'ma, a money-centric religion which worships Monsieur Monopolie, the god of money. The Constitution insures a strong economy in Ambrella and the rightful dominance of those blessed with wealth. Outside of business, the government has few cares. In almost all cases, the people are permitted to do whatever they like, whenever they like, making Ambrella an ideal haven for wealthy libertarians. The poor are largely ignored, encouraged to work either until they acquire wealth or until they die the most noble death, one caused by pursuit of wealth.

Ambrella continues to grow, attracting many wealthy immigrants, and keeping the lower class too impoverished to immigrate. The current President, Sopo Sopopopolis, is beloved by all those who can afford the phones required to answer the official surveys. He is currently serving his fifth consecutive 8-year term as President, meaning he will have served as President for 40 years at the end of his reign. He will not be eligible for re-election due to term limits.
